Can Graphene Sheet fix the slow and overheating NVME SSD on a Laptop?
NVME SSD now are real fast. But they also overheat and slows down when we push them to their limits.
Now let's see if a thin Graphene sheet can fix this problem!

how much will be the putty needed for this laptop you reckon? also have you ever tried replaced the putty with stiff thermal pad (e.g thermalright or thermalright pads)
@timothyunedo5642 For putty on the VRAMs I think about 5-10g is enough.. Haven't tried thermal pads because you need the exact thickness to fill the gaps. too thin will not make contact with heat pipe, and too thick will have effect on the contact of the heat pipe with other components like the GPU.
@georgesdelfosse4077 Yes I think its better to have a copper heat sink rather than this graphene sheet.
im using acer nitro v15 2023 model pwede ba sya dito? planning to all thermal pad sana pwd ba yun?
@darrensayo3071 Yes, pwede siya on any laptop. Specially sa mga budget gaming laptop like Acer Nitro series
Bro is this honeywell stuff good in Asus tuf F15 fx506LU? i previously use the krynaut extreme grizzly, but i think it only works good under 6 months.
@@5theye997 yes, it is ideal for laptop CPU.. It does not easily get pumped out like krynaut since it turns back to solid form when not in use.. Also, kryanut degrades at 85C.. Laptop CPU reaches 90-100C during High loads so krynaut will not really last at Laptop CPU..
@@PinoyTechEnthusiasthow is the performance now
Bub my brain is soooo active now! Another question for you! There are Double sided and single sided M.2s. Double sided means above and below the M.2 it has chips, single sided only have chips above it and its clear PCB underneath! If I have a single sided M.2 like the NM790 can I also put thermal pads and another heatsink below it? If this is possible. Will the heat dissipation be improved?
@GoodBoy-io6fd it will somehow help reduce heat as it will absorb the heat beneath the PCB board.
I have a question for you bub! I bought 2 4TBs Lexar NM790 PCI-E 4.0. I installed an 8mm graphene heatsink! Can I put on top of the heatsink this Dual Layer Copper foil graphene sticker expecting that it will help the heatsink to cool further the M.2?
@GoodBoy-io6fd I think the 8mm Heatsink is enough. Problem Jeyi thin graphene sheet Heatsink is that is has adhesive between the Chip and the heatsink. we do not know if the adhesive has a good thermal conductivity.
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Then I will use the Graphen Heat Dissipation Heat Sheet Sticker instead of the Jeyi Dual Layer Copper Foil!
Hey Bub Pinoy, GOOD VIDEO PRESENTATION, I LIKE IT EXCEPT YOUR VOICE IS LOW AND SOUNDS UGLY IT IS HARD TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE SAYIN WHEN YOU ARE EXPLAINING! Will you do this again in the future and compare it with a thermal pad graphene heatsink installed on the other M.2? I do like to see and very interested to know the comparison results of the temperature! I am sure the graphene heatsink will cool better than the Copper Foil one! Also Could you do a 0.5mm, 1mm up to 8mm heatsink comparison if installing a thicker heatsink will help your M.2 cool better than the thinner heatsink?!
@GoodBoy-io6fd Thank you, I will improve the audio next time. Unfortunately, I have been busy with other things in life lately that I was not able to make new videos.
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Mr.PinoyTechEnthusiast thanks a lot for answering my questions quickly! I feel that you are logged on here in youtube everyday! SIR I HIGHLY SUGGEST TO YOU THAT YOU FOLLOW MY SUGGESTION! Many are waiting for those test to be done by you! Sir if you have more money could you do a liquid cooling test and review on PC and modify the cooling of the laptop by adding some more graphene film sheets that you can cut into smaller sizes and shapes and installing thermal pads and copper shims?
The graphene should’ve be on both sides, copper has much less thermal conductivity than graphene, they wanted to use graphene as the heat sink, but what is the point if copper is the point of contact? And also no thermal paste so contact is probably VERY bad, use a few drops of kryonaut, “don’t use a lot” as long as it makes some contact, the heat can transfer to the graphene , and from the graphene, into some type of aluminum sink, or maybe a thin shimmy,
@jeffrey1296-rl1mi Is thermal paste good on SSD? I think you need pressure and very thin film of thermal paste for it to work.
Hey bub! When using Thermal Pads, Graphene Sheet Film, Heatsinks for M.2 and Dual Layer Graphene Copper Foil like this Jeyi, You do not apply thermal paste! It is only for processor and graphics card and other applications of heatsinks but not on an M.2. You will fry it faster than help to dissipate the heat!
How many months did it maintain its performance? Did you play games during this time? Did you push the device hard enough?
@abdulkadirozyurt Been playing Genshin Impact and Final Fantasy VII remake. The performance did not last long. I think after 3 months, it started to throttle too much. So I tried PTM7950 instead and it works really well and last long. you can check my video about it. th-cam.com/video/-HUqwx3UzSM/w-d-xo.html&t

ptm 7950 naman sir
@marcusgonzaga7632 You mean try to use PTM7950 on SSD?
same please sir gawa po kayo content with using ptm 7950 + copper heatsink in ssd
hello po, may kinalaman po ba yung nvlddmkm error kase my laptop shuts down with that error sa event viewer, and when I DDU'd my laptop still shuts down (yung shutdown niya po black screen bigla with sounds still on sabay lalakas po yung fans then shut down).
Other option is undervolt your CPU at GPU or lower the temperature limit of your CPU..
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Thank you po for taking your time to answer!
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Sir noted po, maraming salamat po ulit for taking your time and sharing advice! God Bless you po 🙏
So mas madali siya ma pump out VS noctua.. Noctua is better for long life.. pwede mo din try ung PTM7950.. Pero tingin ko mas mahal un..

you got counterfeit Upsiren Ux Pro, the fake one has computer system gr on the box, i got the information from snarks domain, search his channel
@raul1642 Really? I did not know.. Hopefully it will last long as the laptop is not with me anymore. Yeah, I also watch videos of snark domain but I haven’t watched his new contents.
I got this because its really the onky thing that will fit in my qiyida ed4 board.
@spectrex1839 that’s alright.. It’s better than no heatsink..
@PinoyTechEnthusiast plus it's 4x4 so it shouldn't heat up all that much.
Hello bro, is 20 g enough for single use ng putty?
@EngrJemarME Yes 20g is already enough bought a 20g and was able it more than 2 laptops..
Lift up the laptop so it can suck more air. There's glue on clip feet you can buy to do this. Undervolt + overclock your 3050 for an even larger boost to performance.
Already done those.. still it throttle.. maybe its design problem.. it needs more fans and heat pipes..
any program to subvolt i5 12500h? extreme utility intel does not work, neither does the Throttlestop software
@@elfurre nope, you're out of luck. get ptm7950 like this guy shows, raise the back of the laptop, and mess with power limits on throttlestop
@@elfurre unfortunately, starting from intel 12th gen CPU, they locked the capability to undervolt. Undervolt now only works with HX and HK CPU.. Best solution is replace the Thermal Paste with PTM7950.. I only Undervolt my GPU and reduce the TDP and thermal limit of the CPU..
Hi, did you buy 20g of thermal putty or 50? In amazon there is a considerable price difference between them and don't want to be short for the VRMs and VRAM of my laptop
@youtuvi7452 20g is plenty for a laptop..
It only thermal throttled at first because the PTM7950 had to melt and settle first. Running the same benchmark a week later and I bet your results will improve.
nag improve ba idle temps mo? can you give me the numbers?

Nice video can u compere with cheaper heatsink in market?
+@bagasdewangga12131 This is one of the cheapest in the market.. You can buy this one in my country for $3..

@bagasdewangga12131 Aluminum is good.. but Copper can transfer heat better..
No it’s your laptop not able to keep itself from overheating with the MX-6 thermal paste, mine runs at 40-60C
@joker40yearsagoupdated65 good for you that MX-6 works on your laptop. I live in a tropical country and the thermal design of my laptop is not that good that is why I need to find a way to prevent it from over heating.
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast using the GT500 laptop cooler it has high rpm would help you out with nice cool air and dust free since the laptop cooler has a filter on the bottom Also in the Nvidia control panel capping your fps to 60 would help a ton too
@joker40yearsagoupdated65 thanks for your suggestions. I already capped the FPS to 60.. For now I am using a simple laptop cooler so far it was able to keep the laptop temps.
Question... If the pad were better then the putty for the CPU and GPU why use puddy on the other chips instead of pads?
www.youtube.com/@jamesswan7695 Using pads on VRAMS is hard. You need to know the exact thickness needed to make the chip have the right contact with the heatsink. Too thin pads will not contact with the heatsink, and too thick pads may cause problem on the heatsink. But using putty, you just apply it on the chip and let the excess putty pushed out by pressure of the heatsink. I hope this helps!
Heatsink failure is a thing due to bad heat pipes. Did you consider replacing your heatsink
www.youtube.com/@ps3customgamer I did not consider the heat sink replacement as I do not have Idea where can I get a new one. Do you have idea where I can get replacement heat sink?

Sorry, this is not Promosm.. I personally bought the item. and if you watch the video, you will know that my conclusion is that improvement is not enough for heavy users like gamers and content creators..
How's the laptop after few months? Thx
youtube.com/@93xDmario Even after a few months, PTM7950 still works like a charm.
thanks you save me
No problem
it spent 4 minutes to transfer 16 GB of files because your files is not a single chunk but consisted of several smaller files
@Kagamiya yes, that is one factor.. but as seen in the video, transfer speed was somehow improved when the Graphene sheet was installed.. Transfer speed can still be improved, but we need to keep it cool.. NVME SSD slows down when it becomes hot..
PTM needs some time to "settle" on the first minutes on a fresh application, it seems very hot but the pad melts and becomes a very thin layer. You can run your nail, spatula, guitar pick over the edge of the excess PTM on the chip, this cuts the edge and makes peeling off alot easier. For putty i use TH-930 and U6 Pro (From Aliex, there is also recolored K5 Pro, Snarks Domain has a nice putty testing channel)
Thanks for your suggestion on peeling-off.. I will try those next time..
Are there any good alternatives to the upsiren ux pro? Unfortunately no one ships to Germany. The only thing I found is Jeyi 10w/mk.
@Reactx7 Some says K5 pro or Laird 607 are also good. You can check them if they are availble in your country.
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast k5 is the worst, dont use that. laird 607 is premium industrial level stuff so it wont be cheap as other putty, the cheap aliexpress pink putty is good enough for gddr6

@kiryujinfaizen1881 Thanks for your suggestion.. I chose the Upsiren UX ultra Pro because of its claimed 16.8W/mK thermal conductivity..
How much size is enough for both cpu and gpu
I bought a 30mm x 50mm that will be enough for 2 laptops.. You can buy 30mm x 20mm but that may be too small.. You better research the die sizes of the CPU and GPU of your laptop just to be sure. You can check on the video the die sizes of my laptop..
@@PinoyTechEnthusiastpad thickness 0.25mm or 0.2 mm
The one I got is 0.25mm based on the specs on the package.. you can see it @1:07 of the video..
@@PinoyTechEnthusiasti am gonna buy 0.2mm one which is better 0.25mm or 0.2mm
If you ask me, I think 0.2mm may perform better because it is thinner which makes heat conduction faster.. I saw a video once comparing them. but I'm not sure if it's accurate.. 0.2mm has a higher frame rate but runs hotter on the comparison. I find it sketchy since if the system does not thermal throttle, a better pad should have lower temp with same performance.. and if the system thermal throttles, temps should be the same, but performance should be better on the better pad..
Nice to see the improvement 👍It would be a good idea to do undevolting RTX 3050 yet. It could improve the performance not only of the GPU but also of the CPU by the fact that the heat pipes would have at least a little less temperature.
yes, I already tried undervolting.. Unfortunately, one fan is not enough to comepletely cooldown the CPU and GPU of my laptop.. Maybe I will make a video about undervolting next..

Your welcome
Did you apply new thermal putty as well?
Yes, you need thermal compound/putty to fill the gap between the cpu/gpu and the cooling pipes. I used Artic MX-6 as thermal compound on my Acer Swift x (2022)
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Im not talking about the thermal paste on the cpu/gpu. Im talking about the reddish stuff that you can see at 1:19. I can see later that you must have cleaned the red stuff off. Do you apply something where that red stuff was?
Yes, I also applied Artic MX-6 also on those.
@@PinoyTechEnthusiast Big mistake. Thermally conductive paste is not used to replace thermopads, it loses its thermally conductive properties at ~1mm thickness. Put Honeywell PTM7950 on the CPU, GPU and Upsiren UX Pro Ultra, Laird 607 or Honeywell HT10000 on the vrams and power section.
Thanks for the input, I will try those out..
