A Guitar that stands anywhere!
I've always been curios why guitars didn't have built in stands. I found one really cheap and decided to invent one!
I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it.

Making a metal roller for the shop (under $200)

My previous roller was cheap and broke the first time I used it. I decided that I needed to make a better one, so this was my attempt. I hope you like it!
Restoration: 1930's South Bend lathe steady rest
มุมมอง 763 หลายเดือนก่อน
I needed to get the steady rest for my South Bend lathe working again. I have another project coming up that will require it. So I made this quick video to show that process. Please let me know your thoughts in the comments and don't forget to like and subscribe!
Homemade Smokeless Stove (under $20)

I wanted a smokeless stove so I decided to make one. I also thought it would be fun to have a kerosene as the base for this project. Don't forget to like and subscribe!!
Fully Customized Drill Bit Organization
มุมมอง 8K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have a growing collection of drill bits that I use around the shop. Until I get enough to have a fully dedicated system, I needed a simple space to keep everything organized. Directly next to my drill press seemed like the right place for it.
Better Overhead Storage Solution (Drop-down Containers)
มุมมอง 2255 หลายเดือนก่อน
In small workshops, going vertical is necessary. Keeping things accessible is never easy. This is a solution I came up with for storage that can be pulled down as needed for different projects.

    how much weight does it add to the guitar?

      Honestly, not much. The legs were made from some old aluminum I had lying around. The steel rod and the hinge are both pretty light. If I had to guess, maybe a pound?

    Hey not a bad job in making a sheet roller . Im not gonna slate the welding as you have already replied in the comments , ive been hobby welding for about 40 years and recently swapped over to a newer and bigger set up and yeah finding the sweet spot takes a while its not an instant oh i need it set at this and that . And getting used to a different torch takes a while . Should be a great asset to your shop as said a handle will be fabricated at some point . Thanks for an enjoyable video

      The worst part is, I'm completely maxed out on electrical current to my house. So I can't upgrade any future without getting a second line run to the house. That carries a hefty price tag and I'm just not ready to do that. That means I'm stuck with a 120v mig for the foreseeable future. Might be cheaper to get solar. Haha!!

      @@drjonesbuilds I feel your angst on the lack of power resources, I'm UK based so I guess I'm lucky we have 240 as standard and 110 as a site option however we can get 3 phase supply with is a hefty 440v. But that is usually industrial or agricultural buildings not many homes actual have that .. I guess being in the states you have harbor freight as a cheaper option on tooling but I've heard a lot from the stateside TH-cam channels on the HTP range of welding equipment I'm not sure on the options available. I guess its basically going to depend on what future projects are in the pipeline and possible funding available to spend on equipment. Would getting a stand alone generator help ..or something along the lines of an inverter or some sorts .. just thoughts from this side of the pond .. looking forwards to more videos . Thanks

      @@garyyorke1080 actually, a standalone generator for certain projects is a good idea. I'll keep that in mind for further projects. Thank you Gary! 👍

    Your welding amperage is to low, and you need to get the tip closer to the material.

    • @drjonesbuilds
      @drjonesbuilds หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, DEFINITELY realize about half way through that the tip was too far away. I'm running on 120, is it possible to get my amperage higher with this? I'm pretty close to maxed out already.

    • @jamest3618
      @jamest3618 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @drjonesbuilds If you've only got 120v available, your best bet is to do a good bevel, pre heat with a torch and do multiple passes. A 220v welder would be better, but I know that's not always do able.

    great little project that roller will be a good addition to your workshop nice job well done. I think you need to check your welder settings looks like the burn back needs to be taken back it needs to be burning closer to your tip, wire speed probably needs to increase a bit and either your amperage or voltage needs turned turn up depending which control you have 🙂

    • @drjonesbuilds
      @drjonesbuilds หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah my welder is sort of a POS and I am terrible at finding the right settings. Little by little it's getting better but it still feels a lot like dark magic to me. I'll get there eventually. Thank you for the tip! 👍

    take some time and look at ur welders settings. your welds is not the worst I have seen, but you should try fiddling with the settings

    Excellent job, well organized. One feature that might be helpful is to add the decimal size along with the fractional.

    what material were you using for the dividers?

    • @drjonesbuilds
      @drjonesbuilds 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was black foam core. It works well for stuff like this. It's not a very permanent solution but it last a long while.
