Falsesymmetry notice! Turns out she didn't know about being in this and I accidentally let her know in a tweet 😅
I ❤this place! 😊 👍🏻
brings back memories lol
An incredible man behind an incredible game. Thank you, Alexey. :)
"Hey, Hamm. Look. I'm Picasso!"
Lauren Synger deserves the world ✨🖤😇🖤✨
Oh man, the nostalgia! Born in 1981, I get to play games from the "golden age" of computer/video games, and witness births of whole bunch of awesome future game series. My personal favorite game genre is "point & click adventure", and there for, my all time favorite game company is, or should I say "was": LucasArts. I mean C'mon! They put out the absolute best of "point & adventure" games, and for that, we should all say ; THANK YOU RON GILBERT!
I watched Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, and The Price is Right with multiple generations of my fanily. Both my grandmothers, my father, mother, etc.
Once Upon a Museum of Play - The Strong Museum Special Short
Know the jingle?
0:10 Ohhh Boom Shakalaka!
Once Upon a Museum of Play Description: Elmo and the entire Sesame Street gang gather everyone for an unforgettable group photo. Featuring the franchises of Sesame Street, TMNT, Doc McStuffins, Super Mario, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mixels and more!
It's so surreal that this guy's been with Nintendo since the day's of Donkey Kong...
0:05 - Man, I miss that old jingle and logo from old Capcom games.
Sega and Sonic Team really went above and beyond with this acceptance video, you don't see many other developers putting this much effort and fun into their acceptance videos whenever their games get inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.
From such humble beginnings, to a massive million-dollar franchise, it's incredible to think how far The Legend of Zelda series has come.
What a legend...
Tetris is about creating order out of chaos, huh? I feel like you could do a video essay about that.
Ultimas IV-VI were iconic in teaching virtues and values when all other games taught us to hack and slash our way to victory. Ultima was also the origin for the term "Avatar," which is still used today to refer to our in-software personas.
Yes Ultima 4 through six are iconic and do merit hall of fame worthiness but the museum has the habit of adding in the first game from franchises as a proxy for the whole franchise like what they did with the Oregon trial. Plus Sven, the director of Baldur’s Gate 3 used the Ultima series as inspiration for the game. The massive success of Baldur’s Gate 3 was likely a huge factor in Ultima’s induction
Obviously it's not just "his game", but John Romero was probably the only person the Strong Museum could get in contact with for comments on DOOM's inclusion in the Hall of Fame.
I wonder if Don James still works for Nintendo...

i dont think its just that they are relevant to pop culture, game shows are a reflection of the American spirit. We dont care if pro wrestling is fake because its a closed system. Game shows, arguably, are open to public participation, and so we had the reaction we did during the quiz show scandals of 1958. It's funny how the modern American game show producer is legally mandated to maintain a higher ethical standard than the modern American journalist. Thats not a slam on game shows, I just find it to be one of the hilarious little cosmic jokes the universe likes to pull on us.
My Winners prediction for the 2024 World Video Game Hall of Fame: First Inductee: Asteroids Second Inductee: Metroid Third Inductee: Either You Don't Know Jack or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Final Inductee: Guitar Hero
I would like to see Ultima make it in. It was a huge influence on many rpg’s including final fantasy, dragon quest, and most recently, Baldur’s Gate.
In an another video you should talk about how audio is produced in these games.
I have that Drive Master game in my collection. It’s so much fun!
"Punch it."
You can actually see the "Files", "Options", etc. at the top of the screen. Awkward...
I would have liked to have seen how this fight played out...
You know, there are people out there who say "Jumpman" is actually Mario's father.
Is there any more info on the PC Police Academy game that supposedly had live action segments?
Alright. It's Saturday night, I have no date, a 2 Liter bottle of Shasta, and my all Rush mixtape. Lets rock.
My left ear really liked listening to this video on headphones! :P
The Sims was definitely a wacky game.
My right ear really loved listening to this video while wearing headphones. :P
I think I played a version of this when I was younger at school, it had much better graphics, but I never got that far into it.
It's so strange looking back on this game, there literally was no game quite like it up until this point, even within the Grand Theft Auto series.
2016 was another incredibly strong selection of inductees. In fact, I think it was The Legend of Zelda's inclusion in the Hall of Fame, as reported in various gaming outlets and websites (particularly Nintendo ones), that are how I first learned about the World Video Game Hall of Fame! I'm glad to support this however I can!
WoW, indeed...
I heard you can play this game on anything...
Fascinating that they specifically inducted the Game Boy version of Tetris, as opposed to the NES or... really any other version of Tetris. I suppose it's because that's the most widely recognizable version of Tetris.
Is it just me, or do the versions of this game you play on Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Nintendo Switch Online have darker colors compared to this?
wakka-wakka-wakka-wakka
Man, I can only imagine how people reacted to this back in the 70's, their minds must have been BLOWN by this stuff!
You know, while there was certainly something special when it comes to recording the Induction live on stage (especially if you happened to be there), I think switching to prerecorded reveals was the better choice ultimately, since the do look more sleek and professional compared to this (no offense meant with that).
This is such a wonderful piece of history. I was blessed to grow up in Los Angeles and my mom was a teacher at the school associated with Operation Bootstrap. I often went to the factory and the JJ doll was my favorite. Later, I spent my teenage years at the Smith home and it's great to see Marva being excellent as always ✊🏿
I remember playing Computer Space at the Adventureland arcade on Long Island in the early 70s.
I love laserdisc lost media. Top Gear and Laser Grand Prix especially interest me.
