I am very curious if this is typical experience. I am in a class i am told I cannot have my dog on a half led. She has to be entirely lose leashed. Goes against my experience as a dog owner.
I feel like that sometimes falls more into the realm of a service dog than a therapy dog, where they need specific training to deal with the symptoms a person experiences (i.e. psychotic episodes, anxiety breakdowns).

Before this course I guess it is very beneficial to create a strong bond with a dog, so a dog will pay all attention to you and do things sincerely

Wonder if these dogs would be able to handle someone who was not mentally stable? Perhaps that's too tough for a therapy dog?
