A Messina completamente all'opposto. A Catania è un'altra zona e fino a Siracusa.Nel Trapanese hanno altra cadenza e parole. Senza contare i dialetti gallo-italici e albanesi. Comunque sia, divertiti a imitare il "Siciliano".

OMG I finally found someone who realized this! When I went to Brazil, it was much easier for me to learn the language than in northern Italy (As a semi-Sicilian speaker). @@innertechnology7149 Def not a native speaker. Uhhh, hard to answer, I started learning at around 14-15 years old, didn't really make much progress for a long time, learned Italian, moved to Sicily to learn Sicilian and kind hit a road block in Palermo... Long answer is sorta 18 years, but short answer is less than a full year of solid study before making this video. We have way more resources available to us now than when I started studying!!!! Someone working consistently for 2 years could go from zero to comfortably fluent, and then should continue to improve from there. You never stop learning.

I witnessed the Problem #3 There is a pastor in Palermo who discourages me to study Sicilian He's actually from New York. He said that Sicilian is only spoken by the elders, which I do not believe. But because I'm in love with and I love Sicilian language, I continue to study, speak, and share it to my fellow Filippini, including my girlfriend!

NICK! Man, it's awesome to see you speaking your heritage language (et j'sais que tu le parles avec ton bébé comme moi)! And it's really helpful to see subtitles in Sicilian, Italian, and English. I probably told you this, but my mom's grandparents came from the Campobasso area in Isernia in the Southern half of the boot. A village called Sant'Angelo del Pesco. It's now in the region of Molise, but Molise didn't exist when they left. It was pretty much Southern Abruzzo when they left around 1910. So the area they're from, they would've spoken a dialect of Abruzzese, which I know is a Neapolitan language but is quite different from what they speak in Naples. I think there are even less resources for Abruzzese, but there's a decent amount for Napulitano. Both Italian and something closer to what my great-grandparents would've spoken are next on my list to learn. I've always loved how Sicilian sounded, though, so this is great. Even if I learn Italian first (which is more likely), I'd rather learn to speak with the accents of of the South rather than those of the North. Concerning the topic of the video, though, as I'm sure you know, the same debate exists among people wanting to learn Louisiana "Cajun" French (which is arguably distinct enough to be considered its own language separate from International French depending on the variety) and Louisiana Creole, a.k.a. Kouri-Vini (which is even more distinct from French, especially in its grammar, despite the fact that it is highly mutually intelligible--but sometimes asymmetrically intelligible--with French, but especially Louisiana French. My advice with these two varieties is it depends on your intentions. There are enough resources out there that, if your intention is to communicate with family members who still speak the language, there's no reason why you should feel like you need to "go through" standardized French in order to get to LF or LC. If you're of the attitude that you need to get "good enough" in French before you move on to either of Louisiana's French-based languages, all your loved ones who speak the language will die before you feel you can move on. But now, especially with Louisiana French, I don't see a problem with starting with International French IF Louisiana French is more of a hobby or casual interest and your main goal is to communicate with Francophones from all over the world first and foremost. With Louisiana Creole, though, it's a little different, and French just may be more of a distraction than it is an aid in learning Kouri-Vini. For Louisiana French, I will say that I was surrounded by the language growing up, so that helped a ton, but even then, I did supplement my learning of LF with some basic standardized French learning material. And that might be the reality of learning Sicilian. I really have no idea. I'd imagine you do also come across some Sicilian Italian in your journey learning actual Sicilian. Is that ever the case?
