The Chobe national park in the northern part of Botswana has the highest population of elephants in the world. Its a common sight to see elephants in the river.I wanted to paint this bull elephant as part of a landscape which included the bow wave in the foreground as it walked though the water .I loved painting the reflection and sun sparkles on the surface of the water.

How to avoid creating bad art
มุมมอง 37728 วันที่ผ่านมา
When our art is called "bad," it can feel very personal and hurtful. We might feel disappointed or frustrated, especially if we worked hard on it. It can lead to self-doubt, making us question our skills or creativity. However one factor that could be contributing to us creating bad or poor quality art is related to our reference material.Join me as I go on a off road drive just outside Maun in...

Exploring the Okavango in a Canoe
มุมมอง 2226 หลายเดือนก่อน
As Artists we often find ourselves stuck in the comfort of our studios, surrounded by the same walls and tools day after day. However I think venturing into new and unfamiliar territories can be a profound way to break this routine and ignite the creative process. When artists step into the unknown, they challenge their senses and their perceptions, often encountering scenes and stories that th...

Waw waw good Job brother Congratulation God bless you
Thanks 👍👍
Beautiful 🎉❤...so realistic
Thank very much.
Very very beautiful painting i like that brother
Thank you 👍
Woooooow....that's amazing. As a painter myself, it was really a learning moment to see how you painted the water shine and droplets on the skin and the bucket. Especially all the color variation and patterns on the skin. Up close it looks jarring to have straight lines between colors, like the blue and red-brown on the next, but when we pull back it really has a wet affect. That's amazing. 😮 I also love how you did a wash glaze over the background, I paint in acrylics and I don't think that would have worked out so nicely, but with oils it's so smooth and seamless. Nice work! 👏👏👏
Thanks for your comment, yes its true up close it often looks rough but from a distance it always looks better,I actually think the glaze could work well with acrylics you just have to experiment with it.To create that atmospheric depth I mix a combination of blue and white and thin it down, after painting it on I smooth and wipe the excess paint off with a clean cloth or kitchen paper towel so that the layer is really thin, smooth ,and transparent.
Muy bueno su trabajo felicidades 👏
Thank you very much
Very nice and wonderful painting 😊😊❤❤
Thank you 🙂🙂
I'm incredibly impressed-well done!
Thanks 😀👍👍
🙏
Oh hooo.... Perfect painting brother. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇧🇩🇧🇩🐘🐘

I like the idea of stitching photos together and even overlaying them to build a good composition.
Incredible!! Love the colours and detail!
Thank you 😊

Thanks 😊
The painting is beautiful and the water reflections are amazing
Thanks 😊
that was cool!!!
Thanks had fun making it :)
Beautiful painting Roger, and true Segametsi is a common Setswana name for girls. Segametsi means "a container used for drawing/fetching water."
Thanks I thought the meaning of the name would be a good one for this painting :)
It's a good name for it, Segametsi carrying segametsi 😁😁 @@rogerbrownart

Loved this
Really great video, interesting subject and glad you found some elephants close by and that they finally got some water! Good composition photo - looking forward to more!
Thanks …yes they were thirsty …not sure how long the pools of water will last, hopefully the rains will be good
Love the baby elephant. Hope you get to paint them
Thanks yes the baby is cute.
Really amazing picture especially with the sun light on the water.
Many thanks
I love them all but definitely the last one
Thanks
Your pictures capture not only the wonderful people and animals of Botswana but they really fill you with emotion.
@@matthewmatthews113 Thank you
❤
Nice practical tutorial and an interesting use of oil paint over acrylic.
Thanks 🙂
I really enjoyed this tutorial!! And how you explain what tools you used for each step and then show exactly how to do it and why you did it that way. You had some really good tips in there! Nice relaxing music in the background too.
Thanks , I was hoping it would be useful for some :)
That bull elephant was in musth. You can see the temporal glands leaking on his head very clearly. It was wise to keep a good distance. They are extremely moody at that time. I absolutely feel the nervousness that it invoked in you!!
Never thought about tapering the edge of the frame away in order to give esge to edge artwork without lines. Really good tutorial. Thanks👌
Yes I only realised it myself after making some canvases without the taper and it was frustrating to see the mark showing thorough the final artwork.
you are very lucky to have that kind of talent
Thank you. I think anyone can have the same skills .It just comes from practice.
What would you like to see in the full youtube video of the creation of this painting?

Looks like an amazing adventure
Thanks it was fun .
I think I would have fallen out of the boat from the panic of paddling over that huge croc!! 😭😂 but it looked like a fun trip & very inspiring for creative minds
Fortunately this croc was very sleepy unlike some others I have seen, I think it was the cold water that kept him so docile.
Awesome! A very legitimate snapshot of simple memory exploring!
Work
Thanks
