My father loved music and tried to become a musician. When it got too difficult, he switched to architecture, taking 15 years to qualify. Despite his efforts, he hasn't completed a single project.
This taught me an important lesson: you can fail at something you don’t want to do, so you might as well pursue what you truly desire. For me, it wasn’t about a specific job, but a lifestyle. Initially, I found starting an online business daunting, but it eventually provided the lifestyle I wanted.
Over time, I realized success is about continuous improvement, not necessarily liking every task. This transformation taught me that long-term joy comes from growth and improvement.

I was bodyboarding Tallebudgera on Saturday and I swear the waves were a solid 8 metres on the bigger sets, it took me 30 mins to paddle out and even then I only got out because of the biggest rip I've seen in my life. I went from near the palm beach reef and got out a solid 100 metres away from the seawall.

I’m in Noosa at the moment for a holiday and the beach I’m staying at only has about 3ft waves so I can hardly even surf them

the sweep was fucked
Walking over them rocks when the swell gets bigger can be a dangerous proposition.. if you get caught the water surge elevates you up and then on its retreat fn dumps you straight down like a sledge hammer. And on your back onto large sharp rocks is not pretty. The back could break and the head too. I been lacerated to pieces. Then you gotta clean the bloody blood all over your body somehow.. A pain.. Not fun them rocks. I seen grommets just walk over them so quick I don't know how they do it. And slippery too. The only positive encouragement I felt was a local seeing my blood and scars and saying Yep you havnt surfed burleigh till you been scraped across them rocks lol
I surfed it 9am that day, one of the hardest sweep currents ive witnessed at Burlz for a while. still a nice wave before LIONS AFL PREMIERSHIP !!!

Those calling out jet ski dudes have either never surfed Burleigh or any of the Gold Coast points when on the pump or are just jealous core lords. The sweep there is something else, on a solid swell coming from the south there's like a river flowing along the point, so even though the waves may not look that massive, it requires ridiculous amount of effort and top fitness to even stay in the lineup.
We did ok with it in the 60s with long boards and no leg ropes, no skis.we were tougher then than now….obviously.

I rode a boog at Burleigh for many years in the late 90's- 2000's on solid swells, at times it used to drain hollow on the inside point 6-8ft, sometimes more. We dealt with the heavy sweep that used to drag you down past the old shit pipe if you didn't keep up ya paddling. No skis those days, just solid fitness!

@@davidkooyman2359 like I’ve said on another persons comment. I’ve surfed Burleigh dozens of times 6-8ft over the yrs. The paddle out/sweep is what separates the kooks from the chargers. I can guarantee you those blokes towing wouldn’t be out in proper 6-8ft let alone pulling into stand ups. Gold Coast is a fucking joke as it is. And if u think it’s the right call then you’re part of the problem too.
@@dillonhall266 meh i surfed it that same day, 2 nice waves, 1.5hrs of paddling against the sweep. the jetskis werent really in the way and I was jealous every second as my arms were going to jelly. call me a kook but i would never screw that jump in at Burlz like these ones in the vid. It was just a really hard paddle day that day honestly

In the land of lefts, a right hand barrel is always going to the be the bell of the ball -- Nias, HT's, Keramas, Apocalypse, etc...
A secret spot known for over 25 years, with one (two?) surf camps...hardly secret, it was in the Indo Surf & Lingo 1998 edition. 😃

Not sure why anyone would go to the Hinako's anymore. Both waves there used to be barrels now they are sectiony and fat (post earthquake). At least Nias barrels and peels perfect.
And Nias got waaayyyy better after the earthquake!
Was way better before the earthquake. Made this wave not as good but made Nias better. Most of the waves around this area suffered especially Bawa.
