But you can teach that without pushing or hitting and the only studies I have seen is being physically active not hurting others gives those benefits. So doing dance, yoga, and other things gives you that knowledge. Physically carrying and doing things give you that knowledge. You don't need to teach children physical violence or blur boundaries to get that knowledge. Hitting, kicking, etc other people is saying it's okay to do this things. It's a whole new reteaching you have to do when they get older or hit you in a sensitive area etc. This leads to the child becoming confused on what they did wrong and you will shut them down from physical interactions in general and/or break your trust as a parent.

Maybe I'm missing the context but it is weird that this is presented here without acknowledging the caveats of rough play or presenting developmentally appropriate companion lessons. Hopefully in the full they're not just leaning into simplistic boys just need to be boys. Honestly this comes across as rage bait

Well, brown rice has a ton of arsenic compared to white rice. Although some of it is lost when it's boiled and drained, there's still a lot left. If you're going to mention nutrients, you need to name them all - the good and the bad. It also has more lead and double the amount of cadmium than white rice. There's a reason why people took the time and trouble to remove the husk and germ. I don't eat rice of any colour - don't like to spike my insulin.

People did have adhd and autism when you grew up the diagnostic criteria was not recognized by parents or teachers because there wasn’t widespread awareness of symptoms. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders is updated every 10 to 15 years, which means the criteria for a diagnosis was different every decade. The push for mental health awareness and destigmatization helped many people get the resources they needed to be diagnosed. There was also a shift in parenting style that was originally “stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about” to “what are you feeling and how can I help you”. Parents are more in-tune with their children’s needs, can identify where their children are struggling, and as a result are getting the support they need. As a person who was diagnosed with ADHD in their early 20s and struggled as a child, I am very privileged to be able to get a diagnosis and get treatment, for it is life changing. I hope you understand that while I respect your opinion, there are many variables as to why more and more people are getting diagnosed.

    • @Courtney-Chaney

My thoughts would be yes, we are overwhelming our bandwidth with the small thoughts and decisions that it doesn’t allow us to put the proper attention to the big things we need to focus on.
