It's how the Roland U20 should have been. The U20 is way too complex for what it offers as a simple rompler. The Rhodes makes everything a lot easies.

The Roland Rhodes series came out in 1989/90 and this model 660 was like an upgraded U20 x4. Excellent for the gigging musician on stage or in the studio, as a master keyboard linked to analog, digital, sampler etc or on it's own. Sounds really cut through with punch for band situation! Semi-weighted keys were the best at it's time, similar to D70 :)

for something thats perhaps lived its entire lifecycle as a ROMpler song scratchpad, it has shown that its a powerful waveshaping synthesizer in the hands of wizards like you. Commendable work there and amazing patches.

I bought one in 1989 with a Q80 Kawai sequencer. I bought the orchestral winds and strings cards - they were awesome. I did the whole "Carnival of the Animals" on 6 tracks. My main problem was the keys that quit working. After opening it up a dozen times to clean off the contacts, I stopped counting. I replaced all the rubber key contacts and all the click switches (most of which have quit working again).

I too have a 01/Wfd, and I've written all my songs on it, but I don't know how to export (or transfer) all the MIDI information (from the sequencer) into my laptop. Do you have any experience in this?

I purchased a NEW one around 1985 and still have it, in excellent working condition. Strings, and brass and Vox sounding organ are way better than any new synth that I have had (at least 8 since then). Purchased a used one for $125 a few years ago and I will never sell them!

I had the Wersi MK-1 Stage Perform and also the Wersi MK-1 S2 Stage Performer, my favorite of my synthesizers.

I just love the sound of the Korg 01 Workstations! One of the most powerful sounding synths ever made, especially the waveshaping is very nice and unique sounding! <3

i had once a dedicated library/editor for the 01Wfd on floppy,.. but ofcourse, that floppy wont work anymore.. does anyone knows a good, standalone, dedicated editor for the 01Wfd?

How did you get the resonant filter sweep on the 01/W? This synthesizer does not have a resonant filter. Did you use Weve Shaping function to achieve the filter resonance effect?

The string patch at 1:33 is so lush. Amazing sound!!! And at 2:16 it sounds like Miami Vice's Evan. That's a square wave type of sound. Very nice. And yes, I fully agree with your statement about the synthesizer's presets. I would make an analogy to keyboard demo songs. An instrument is capable of more than just its demo songs. The owner should create the songs on the synthesizers. Same with the preset patches. They are only to demo patches of the synthesizer. The owner should create patches, not just using the presets. Using presets is nearly as compelling as pressing the song demo button and never bother to play the synthesizer.

This Kawai k11 is a monster synth if you edit the sounds with an editor ,holy smokes, this synth smokes man, you can get some killer evolving pads and monster bases. Just about any thing you can dream of..... And the 16 bit waves are so darn crisp and clean wow.. Way Underrated... People sometimes buy synths but dont explore them enuff and judge them by the preset sounds, but once you start digiing ito the programming parameters, WOW, you open a window to another side of that synth....you never knew existed...

Cool synthesizer! Hey, man, could you sample each preset and upload it to the Internet? Millions of musicians would be grateful to you :))

Hey guys, I have one of these...love it, but when I edit a sound in the Normal Mode, how do I save it on a bank button to recall in Performance Mode?

I agree, presets are kinda horrible and the limited memory doesn't help.
