    Every KLX comes geared WAY too high, at 14/43 OEM usually and thats why they seem so under powered. Thats 3-7teeth too high depending on if u ride street or offroad. U want these geared so you use all the rpm and gears up to 80mph, cuz thats all the motor will pull u to anyway. OEM gearing mine couldnt accelerate much in 6th gear. 13/45 and it was quick and powerful enough to wheelie and have fun. Aluminum sprocket, MX chain, and keep the rear tire 100-100-18 or lighter and it really revved out quicker. Slip on exhaust, snorkel off jetted/tune and the low end power bumped up a lot

    Perfectly honest review! I own that same bike and as you put it, "hell naw!" That about sums it up! It's an awesome little bike for back roads to single track, but after about 30 min on the highway I'm ready to be done and back on a side road!

    Good audio and video quality with sounds of engine too. Lower class rating for juvenile f bombs. Nice bike.

    Looking to pick one up maybe drive 2 hours the most rarely. Prob do a lot of 1hour drives tho. Think one of these would suit me or should I get a bigger bike

      It will do day trips just fine but stick to the back roads. It's a little brutal on the highway and the speed limit is the limit of the bike.

    I have the KLX-250S. I never had one that was stock. The previous owner did the Bill Blue overbore kit to 351cc. He also added the pumper carb, and good aftermarket exhaust. I added the adjustable CDI for computer controlled advance curve - along with adjustments for both soft and hard redline cut-out. At almost 60% more throttle response and horsepower it does just fine. I also have the larger fuel tank and soft bags. I much prefer it over my BMW R1100RT street/touring bike for around town, and it is fun on the light trails that I ride. It is due for some suspension upgrades - especially the front fork which has some serious dive with my 200 lbs on the original springs. With the upgrades - it is great for around the state with state park or national forest fire road off road camping destinations. I can always pack a couple of extra (soft) tanks of gas (2+ gallons each) into the soft saddle bags for 500 miles of total range before I need to find a gas station... That's if I pack it light and I don't hot rod it. :) Putt putt and it gets decent mileage... hit the pumper carb and hot rod it the mileage does down hill fast. advrider.com/f/threads/the-amazing-klx351.954209/ If I go on long trips out of state, or with a passenger strictly on paved roads then the Beemer is king.

      I've been eyeing different bikes recently for potential replacements. The crf 450L looks great although price is a little much for what I'd like to pay. I've thought about going with a big bore kit it sounds like it really take the bike from a great commuter to an awesome little dual sport. I'm just getting ready for spring riding as we speak ordering a new front and front fork guards that I broke last season. I think I may keep it for a little longer this summer and just see how things go. Sounds like you have quite the bike, Cheers !

      Hey, the boosters last quite awhile. I still use the same one and it's a great thing to have in your car, truck or bike!

    What is the top speed? I'm in the US so 110 km is not gonna cut it on our highways - average cruising speed is around 120 km, and need around 140 km available to safely pass in all conditions. Three suggestions for extended highway riding: 1. Get a full face street helmet. 2. Get a pad for your seat. 3. I saw a video where a guy made a fairing cut out of an old plastic trash can. You just zip tie it to the bike. All of that can be hidden in the bushes or easily strapped on the back when you get out to the trails, and put back on for the ride home.

      barking.dog.productions1776 it goes about 100mph at top speed.

      @barking.dog.productions1777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@schlinge-fling Thanks for the reply. I ended up picking up a 2006 KLX250 with the 351 kit, pumper carb, and FMF exhaust already done. There may be some tweaking left to do here and there such as jets, etc but all the major work is done already. It will do 70-80 mph on the freeway pretty easily which is plenty fast enough to get me out to the trails without cage drivers trying to push me down the road because I'm doing 10 mph under the limit.

      @@taekwoncrawfish9418 And, you live where? Apparently you are completely ignorant of the fact that on most USA highways the speed limit is 70 MPH, so a bike that only goes 60 mph is dangerous because cage drivers will tailgate you. Not only that but most drivers regularly go 5-10 mph over the limit - because the cops do give some leeway for speeding - so driving 10 mph under the limit pisses them off even more, and that if I need to pass a car on a 2 lane back highway I need to be able to go at least 15 mph faster than them to get around them quickly, and without taking a 1/2 mile to chug up to that speed. I have no idea why it is always the people who are the most ignorant of the actual ramifications of the conversation that always have to be the one to throw in their 2 cents, or smart ass comments???

    • @barking.dog.productions1777
      @barking.dog.productions1777 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@taekwoncrawfish9418 Because 70 mph is common not only on 4 lane interstate, but 2 lane back highways as well, and so here in the USA having a bike that barely does the speed limit is outright dangerous. The OP already answered my question and said that the bike would do close to 100 mph, and as I said, I already got a bike that will easily do over 100 mph with the big bore kit and other upgrades even with my 200 lb fat ass on it... That conversation concluded between 2 people 7 months ago, and everyone was respectful. What I don't understand is why you feel the need to start a flame war with me over a conversation that ended 7 months ago, and then act like I am the bad guy with this "peace" BS when all that you had to do was actually read the original thread to begin with??? No one wants to be trolled by some smart ass who can't even be bothered to read the VERY SHORT thread 7 months after the fact.

    I'm a cross country truck driver in the U.S. and I can confidently say that merging is one of the top things people do very poorly. They seem not to understand the point of longer merge lanes, which is to reach highway speeds to properly join in with the natural flow of traffic; although on a bike it's much more dangerous than in a truck or car. Just thought I'd share my two cents. Be safe and thanks for the video feedback.
