When partially removed oil sump differences occur between other similar models ie fiat punto mk1/2 and fiat 500.

I found taking the oil pick up off to get the old sump off best and then on the new one cut out a section in the baffle, only a small amount needed. Then re fit the oil pick up and the new one fits on easier with cut out to clear the oil pick up. Not a well though out job from fiats design and makes me appreciate Landrover defenders more. Haha Good luck.

Hi matt ,like video I took the sump off by cutting the exhaust just past the bend in the cat pipe and dropping the sump straight down ,then connecting the pipe with an inline connector, job done put the shrouds back .finished.

Whatever works for you Edwin 👍. Was definatly a bit more to it than I originally expected tbh.

Hi, I plan to do the same thing regarding cutting the exhaust pipe. I had planned to buy flexi joint to re-couple. Can I ask what type of connector you used? Thanks.

removing the exhaust is the easiest way to remove the sump but the bolts snapping in the manifold make it a really awkward job to get them out

What a total shitjob that is....I've had mine going rusty over the last 5yrs but just noticed today the sump is slightly wet so looks like I'll have to replace it in the coming weeks...I'm really NOT looking fwd to it

I'll chuck in my experience, recently done the lower arms so familiar with removing the bumper so went that route. Still a pig to get it past the exhaust, top tip from Stevanna_1888 on the oil strainer, just crack the back bolt and remove the front bolt and it'll swing round plenty to drop the sump off. Would be miles easier removing the exhaust but who's touching manifold bolts on a car where the oil pan has rusted through.

Did you get the sump back on without removing exhaust? Got this job to do on a 59 plate..removing manifold is something I want to avoid if possible

I just done 1 today an I did not remove front bumper nor the cross member arm , if u remove bolts around sump, an disconnect 2x t30 on oil strainer the sump will come out past subframe with a little bit of wiggling found it alot easier. Hope this helps 👍🏻

@@edwardrennick2417 thanks for reply. I did the job by removing manifold..just as well really as one of the studs was already broken. I'll remember your method for any future ford KAs/fiat 500 Sumps 👍👍
