A Flood of Information (errata up front)
Believers from a scientific background often struggle with what man says about creation and history and what the scriptures say. But regardless, something collects around 4000 years ago. Could one verse about the flood in Noah's time reveal something? Is a pteradactyl allowed to fly?
There is a correction video at the front about some misinformation with regards to C14 dating and where the data points collect and how they spread out when you go back beyond 4000 years. I prepended that up front so when you get to that part, you'll go "yep, he said it backwards"... and I did. Sorry.

Work Out Your Own Salvation

Sometimes we doubt. I'd argue, because it's too much to believe. The good news is that Jesus will reveal Himself so that we can believe. So, do be a "doubting Thomas", if that's what it takes. So you can say, "My Lord and my God!"
I hope it doesn't rain today.

Fear, love, and glory
มุมมอง 15หลายเดือนก่อน
We hear a lot about fear and truthfully, we feel afraid about many things, especially uncertainties from our own perspective. But there's also a good "fear", a fear that is more like amazement and being overwhelmed by a truth that is so much bigger than we ever imagined. If we can get a glimpse of it, it might just cast out the bad fears we have. Right?

Foundation Choice: Thoughts and Prayers vs. the Pyramids of the Dead

Jesus is the firm foundation. But sometimes we think we're above all of that. And what we end up doing are great structures that house the dead. What we need to do is rely on the Lord and His Holy Spirit. Foolishness to man.... Babel, pyramids, Jacob's Ladder and better, his pillow.... learning about ourselves and about our Lord.

Older video, but still relevant on my company's path to monitoring. Even today, when 3rd party vendor's visit us (e.g. support), they marvel at our security and monitoring. We now use the CEE version of Checkmk, but this video dates back to when we were using the free "raw" version. Also, Netdata project has changed a lot and their direction is much more "profit focused". Some of their changes ...
Creating remote VNC via an SSH tunnel

The ability to do remote control assistance to end users is a common requirement by many IT departments. This shows how to use ssh (remember openssh comes with Windows now) to create a local listening encrypted tunnel to an end user's desktop running VNC by using a jump host.

Bro you tslk too much useless overhead . Compress your information be mire efficient
Just found this and am very interested in setting this all up. Do you have a tutorial on how to get all this setup? thanks!
You can go to plex.tv to get started. To engage the Plex DVR feature you will need a supported tuner (I use a Hauppauge card) support.plex.tv/articles/225877427-supported-dvr-tuners-and-antennas/ and Plex Pass (which is available in a one time lifetime purchase option). The rest is a very easy setup, especially if you've used competing DVR products in the past. support.plex.tv/articles/225877347-live-tv-dvr/
@@cjcox awesome. One more question, how does the media server really do? Do I need one of all I want to do is record and watch on my PC? Or is that needed no matter what?
Hi, very interesting, do you have any guide on how to achieve this ? Thanks
You talk real stuff.
any experience of working with word and excel on 2530p? what OS is better to install on it, Linux Mint or Win 7? With Win7 there will be no access to the latest versions of browsers, but at least you can use it with the office 2010 ...
I have not tried a Windows VM on it, it's a bit too small footprint wise for that. I might give installing Office 2010 or later on it and let you know though. It will still be running Tumbleweed. Windows as the base OS on anything doesn't make sense to me anymore. Tumbleweed is a bleeding edge tested distribution of Linux. Doesn't concede (defeat) on anything.
Update, I did "try", but I mean the concept are "old" (trying to install old version of Office). Most of what I have on hand key wise is for the (now very very very old) concept of 64bit OS's. Anyway, all my attempts for 2013 and 2010 failed. I mean, I was able to use winetricks to successfully install the "online" download of 2013 for a 32bit wine, but, again, no key and even then, it seemed very unusable. YMMV with the following, but last time I did the "appearance" of a local 2013+ Office was using RDP applications, where the app was actually running on a Windows (somewhere). That sort of works ok, but with the limitations normally found with Window RDP (that being Windows is hampered arbitrarily on the desktop side to being a single user OS). Thus, if the Windows is being used, you can't just pop up an app somewhere else. You can argue the case that if the goal is to run "Windows only software", that maybe Windows has to be the OS of choice. Again, that's pretty backwards thinking, but valid for those stuck in the distant past. The idea of running very very very very very very very very old versions of Windows on anything is a really bad idea. So, apart from experimentation in isolation, I'd avoid it. So... I'm not necessarily "done" with trying the whole "MS "only" Office on Linux" in some sort of native manner thing.... but maybe I've got bigger fish to fry for now.
@@cjcox I replaced hdd with ssd via mini-sata to microsata adapter from ali-express and it works just fine with the cheapest ssd with a strange brand name Puskill 😀. Then I installed linux mint xcfe and now it can play full HD with no lags or freezes (which I experienced when installed windows 7). With big excel files 5 mb and bigger the laptop works slow - high latency and low responsiveness . But in general, you still can surf internet pretty comfortably if you don’t open many tabs.
@@cjcox i like its keyboard and a small lamp that lights on the keyboard at night.
Wonderful! Is possible virtualize windows 11 and GPU? Do you have any recommend tutorials or advice? grazie!!!!
No. This is OpenGL and sort of deprecated and without support for Windows or remote access. But still, it's fun to see this all working without partitioning of the GPU or dedication via passthru.
I am doing similar but with Jellyfin instead of Plex. Ripping station is my daily driver (laptop with attached DVD drive) Then, data copied to my miniPC with attached storage in cupboard (serves Jellyfin) Backed up an external hard drive plus to my network attached storage. I have only ripped DVDs so avg size per movies/programme is 1 GB. Going forward I may look into Blu-ray for modern higher quality programming.
Good point. I think everyone should consider what "works well for them". I know some say always store "native", but sometimes, you don't really need that. I compress as well. Only in very specific cases (and sometimes just for testing) will I store native.
I was looking for a deep dive on Plex DVR and this didn't disappoint. Thank you and great guide!
You're welcome. Of course, my video was mainly sticking to the Plex Pass feature of Plex DVR, but as far as OTA recording solutions with good EPG, it's the best out there right now and makes sense if you're already a person running a Plex server.
IT"S A BIG DEAL!!! 🤪🤪🤪

Rofl yeah i had a crack at suse back in the day.
Wow thx for the trip down memory lane! I was a 3rd year student back in college back in '99, and well, the academic environment was quite anti-Microsoft back in the day, so Linux was quite popular. So we tried all Linux distros under the sun, as well as the different windows managers. Pretty sure i had this exact version of KDE at some point (perhaps with a darker theme, but still, all icons match what i remembered), and i'm also sure i used KDevelop for more than a couple of my course projects. Of course half the fun was finding out a graphics card that supported 16-bit color, otherwise you were stuck with very basic 256 (or was it even 16?) color mode. Which means this was probably before fbdev, or at least before it became popular. Fun times!
Usually that would have been more like mid-90's. As I mentioned by 1999, you may have had a Matrox and even doing some GLX, see a blast from my past here: www.ntlug.org/archive/tp/glx_ccox/glx.html
@cjcox ah indeed, fun stuff there :D I definitely remember GLX (edit: GLXGears, rather) being the "gold standard" (if you can call it that ) of the time to check if 3D acceleration was working under Linux :) I definitely recall reading about 3D gaming starting to be not only a possibility in Linux, but even being faster than windows (unsure if i read your article back then, or someone else pointing similar results, but i definitely remember it). I think by the early 2000s or so I was compiling Quake 2 from source after iD software released it, the Linux build was maintained by Icculus, if I recall? Nothing beat the feeling of playing Q2 under Linux back then :) For me personally, it was then that the switch flicked in my brain indicating "this is more than a toy, it's a real OS, and viable alternative to Windows" (queue the old memories of having to dual-boot into windows in order to perform certain tasks you couldn't reliably do otherwise)
Thanks Chris. It's worth noting that this demo shows the Tablo (1st Gen.) with an active subscription.
Correct, but should be for OG networked Tablos, not just the 1st gen of those. Apart from the "weird" one off Tablo devices, this does cover the "main" devices sold by Tablo prior to the Scripps acquisition.
How did you get a KDE 5 Desktop over x2go? For me that fails and I have to switch to xfce on the remote machine.
Custom Desktop -> /usr/bin/startplasma-x11
Piece of advice, DON'T - KDE will rearrange your desktop icons if you start up with a lower resolution with X2Go, it will happily PERMANENTLY rearrange your widgets to fit on the screen, sometimes even overlapping them and there's no way to prevent it so when you next startup KDE on the machine you remoted too, it's all screwed up. Stick with LXDE and XFCE - they aren't beautiful, but they're usable. You won't have any desktop effects with KDE either. I don't recommend trying with GNOME 3.0 either. Stick with a simple window manager. Remote desktop is for work anyhow and you can always throw up your X2GO session in one virtual desktop, and still have access to others on your local machine. Another thing you CAN do is on X2Go instead of selecting a desktop select "Single Application", and just startup a konsole, you might need to specify the full path on the local machine. From there you can launch anything from the command line. You might have varying luck with this. Once you close the konsole, all applications should also disconnect, and MAYBE you will be able to resume them on next connection. I've have varying degrees of luck with it.
Sounds cool!

This guy knows something we didn't ❤
Now that's dedication. Love that you have UT2004 on the desktop there. Back when Epic cared and made both UT2k3 and UT2k4 for linux and ran better than on Windows - not surprisingly, and yet DirectX was already in its heyday then, so still impressive that they managed to do that at the time.
UT2004, still on my desktop, I still play. Looks and plays well in 2024 (20 YEARS later). Linux ftw!
Wow. Can you please tell is it specific to AMD graphics cards? Is there some wrapper/driver trickery?
It's not even current state of the art. No "magic" required. Plain ole RX 5700XT running the open source driver only, using virt-manager to define Display Spice -> Type: Spice server, Listen type: None OpenGL: checked (should fill in a path that looks something like, 0000:34:00:0 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Navi 10 [Radeon RX 5600 OEM/5600 XT / 5700/5700 XT] (render) ). Then define Video Virtio: (toggle 3D Acceleration). Guest VM was running Tumbleweed latest and host is running OpenSUSE Leap 15.5 (up to date). This only works when running the virt-manager VM console local to the host. But still, pretty awesome. There's work (I think) to get virtio gpu handling for Windows guests, but have not tried that (I don't think it's quite ready, well, I think it's at the "build it yourself" stage). Edit: Also I have tried some game through Steam. Older things like Half Life 2, Portal, but the controls are too "wonky"... so, it works graphically, but the controls need work. I did recently buy the Deponia bundle, and it works fine on the VM. Also, all is Plasma X11 (sorry Wayland proponents)
His voice is still awesome!!
I saw Atomic Opera at a show in Pocatello Idaho in the early 90's, they melted my face off! They were such an underrated band, I know that's a cliche thing to say. 🤘🏼
The Wayland way is probably to grab the framebuffer and encode it to a video and stream that over the network, like the game streaming services do already. Isn't it way inefficient? Yes, but with specialized hardware (GPUs) it may be doable on even mobile hardware. Windows RDP to Linux xfreedrp (Remmina) is probably the best experience for me right now. x11vnc is just crazy simple to get going when I need desktop access over SSH, but it is also not being maintained.
My point is that it's not a priority (at all) and the only thing is frame blasting which requires fat low latency pipes. FreeNX had different goals and had a different transport. Xvnc would actually be the Xrdp side by side equivalent, and it's maintained. But both are doing pretty much the same thing (VNC style underneath). Of course, we could argue that at the time, FreeNX's competition might not have been VNC so much as just plain old X Client, which was/is dog awful slow. Anyhow, posted this so I could attach in response to recent video here: th-cam.com/video/Ly22ZKPGxXs/w-d-xo.html and some where asking for a "better" demo.
The advantage of X2Go is that it's extremely fast, but I don't think it works in Wayland, and besides, I think Wayland is dead on arrival. I was real exited about it when it was announced, back in 2008, 15 years ago. Seemed silly to be using the loopback interface to communicate locally, well, X11 doesn't do that anymore, it bypasses it and uses a direct frame buffer, but it's maintained because some programs do direct access to the loopback interface. VNC doesn't even COMPARE to X2Go although I would not recommend using either GNome or KDE with it - they just don't tend to play well, use LXDE or some other simpler desktop. You won't have 3d desktop effects anyhow though X2Go. X2Go is on part with MSTSC (i.e. RDP) in terms of speed. When working on a LAN, you can't even tell you're on a remote machine unless you fire of a video player in full screen.
I had one in seoul back in 2008, riding on the subway with this!
Thanks for making this Chris. Definitely what I am looking for. I will test this integration out and provide my feedback. And you idea make perfect sense.

I have this cd...purchased way back when Frank Hart released it. Love this track 😎
I've been interested in making a fork of the open source version for awhile now that fixes a lot of my problems with the game, including the graphics. One road block I've hit is that the open source version uses only spheres for the characters, and not .obj, which leads to very bad results without having to recode quite a bit of the engine. So it's interesting to find out the first version of all things had what appears to be proper model support and therefore better looking ones.

@Cameronrs004 Hmmmm... not really enough info. If the A/V out is composite, then you can use a frame grabber... like a Hauppauge device. I use those to take old video to DVD (just as an example). I also use it in my own home grown PVR device, for watching standard def U-verse on my computer (and recording the show).
@GappkN I used Linux mencoder (part of mplayer)
do you know if this pmp supports subtitles in other languages? korean, russian, czech for example- anything without the standard english? normally players (mp classic etc.) on pc require a change in the default- so I'm not sure if the text would appear as it should or just rubbish Thanks for the upload
