Why I've Been Failing On YouTube

In this video I talk about my journey being a content creator as well as speak about the main reason why I feel like I'm not growing (yes it's because I don't have a niche)

As we spend more time online it seems like 'the ordinary' is becoming less ordinary. Everyone seems to want to live a luxurious life and we tend to forget the beauty of everyday life. Today I decided to document an ordinary day of me working my web developer and content creator job just to look back on later in life. Sometimes we feel as if life is meaningless. The things that we do. The things that we're working towards. When all is said and done, will it even matter? Regardless of these thoughts, I think it's important to find meaning in everything that we are doing. So that we can stay motivated and find purpose within our lives. even if your vidoes are very random ppl will keep watching if they like you for you
Maybe it's cause of the upload "schedule" 😅😅
try to make a video that's not talking about yourself, make a video with a statement, and focus purely on that statement. best of luck mate! im also trying lol
Man this was a good video. I just started my channel on personal growth and I hope to be as successful as you.
If you need a video editor am here lol 😊
bro the truth is no one knows what will make you blow up on youtube
yeah that’s true to be fair. just gotta stay consistent and keep improving every video
Lesgoooooo :D
let’s goooo 😤
i think its important to collaborate with some people be it friends or other creators . Maybe you could also share and explain deep topics about certain things and how you understand they work or even just something as basic as drawing. honestly, it all depends if its actually *sustainable* for you to commit to doing for weeks straight so burnout which can be a major issue wouldn't catch you lacking
I agree, collaboration really helps especially with motivation and just makes the whole process more fun. Yeah i was thinking of ways where i can visually explain stuff better so i might have to get the pen and paper out haha. Thanks for the suggestions though I really appreciate it! Love your profile pic by the way, that movie was so good!
ive been thinking about making video diaries for various reasons but i worry about privacy 😭
yeah i feel like that's the main drawback about documenting your life 😭 but maybe if you can do it in a way where you don't reveal any sensitive information (where you live, job, etc) then i'd say go for it. it's been pretty fun making them and also i'm excited to watch them back when i'm older haha
Good shit man. I think you're doing a great job. I think that perhaps another thing to look into is marketing. I saw a video that spoke about how a lot of artists and stuff don't tend to do well not because they don't have good content, but they don't know how to market it. I'll also share another video about growing a business. It's a bit of a long watch but trust me, you'll be glad you watched it. It's very resourceful and well thought out. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours, I'll send the links as a reply!
I saw a video like that the other day too maybe we saw the same one haha. But yeah it’s true I need to work on being able to market and promote my videos more. I think I get so engrossed in the creative process but after posting I just leave the video there expecting it’ll just get views by itself. But you still gotta put in the work after you release something. Thank you though this means a lot and something for me to think about moving forward.
@@ItsPaolow that's what's up, I'd check out the second one since you've already seen the first. Doesn't have to be a straight up marathon if it's easier on you that way. Best of luck man, I'm looking forward to seeing your growth :)
Your vids are super clean! You shining! Keep going bro! 🌟
Ayy thank you so much, i appreciate it 🥲
@@ItsPaolow appreciate you!
No matter what you put out, I will still watch! I can't wait for future videos, whether its random vlogs, summoners war, ball, I am excited for you
Ayy I appreciate it bro <3 (summoners war vids soon 👀 jkjk)
focus is pointless, all that other stuff you mentioned is also pointless, the only question that matters is why would people watch you? If you aren't selling me a feeling, entertaining or educating me, why you and not the million other creators that are? the man you see in your head is not what others perceive, if you're not valuable they won't care to spend their attention on you.
Yeah that's a valid point, entertainment/educating is the most important thing in terms of creating but it's still important to have a certain theme/topic that your channel revolves around. If you watch other creators or shows in general they keep the same core themes throughout different videos so that even though the video subject may be different, their core audience is still able to be enjoy because it's still related to why they started watching in the first place. I appreciate the comment though you gave me something to think about
Focus is still important because it’s what drives viewers to visit your channel and what they expect to see from you. Let’s say, you focus on creating graphic design videos, a lot of us as viewers would expect to be educated or at least entertained about graphic design by you. Sure, you can post an Arduino tutorial for some reason, it’s educating sure, but why would I wanna watch this as a subscriber? I came here for design videos, idc about programming. It’s like when you open a laundromat and advertise your business as a laundromat. You would expect people to come in with dirty clothes, and people would expect to be able to clean their dirty clothes there. If you, for some reason, sell some power tools just because “well, people need power tools, right?”, that’s cool, but people are already acquainted with the fact that they’re gonna clean their clothes in your place. Don’t expect people to come into your shop to buy power tools, because your store is literally filled with washing machines, like your sign literally says “Laundromat”, why tf would I wanna come into a laundromat to get a wrench lol
Yes this is exactly it! Love the way you explained it haha
"hold on there BBUUUCK-a-roo"
hold on just a minute there buddy~
100% correct about the niches. TH-cam loves it when you make the same type of content over and over. Good video dude :)
Yeah it kind of sucks that it has to be that way since it feels repetitive but hey, we gotta do what we gotta do 😤
nice video! A question for maybe a video or thought. Do you worry people will not take your advice/creator advice seriously because "if you do not have a high sub count then you are not credible"? Is that something you worry about? Also loved the video! amazing editing and visuals <3
Thanks bro I appreciate it! I think a part of me worries about that but I guess that's why I'm focusing more on my journey/experiences and things I learn along the way. Since I'll be able to share my personal stories around those topics rather than giving advice that may not be as credible compared to hearing it from others who are more 'successful'. I appreciate the question though, I might speak about this one time
even if you don't get much views or what not, you inspire me to start documenting my life, like it's so much fun and you definitely bought back the passion i lost years ago! so don't give up and keep posting (its a sign of life that i know u arent deadge xD) if you are having fun then it is a win and a success in my book :)
thank you so much Em, that really means a lot :') glad i was able to help you start documenting, hopefully when you look back at the footage later on it'll bring back good memories!

You legit made me google this to find out what it meant haha. At least i learnt something new today
@@ItsPaolowthat’s great bro, it’s an odd topic but we do learn things everyday
Hmm, but what if this video will hit 1 million views in time? :) It's been 6 months since you posted this and it got suggested on my feed. Your content & editing style is really unique and I foresee a bright future.
Ayy who knows only time will tell 🤷♂️ Thank you so much though I appreciate it!
Hey Paolow , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
Another common paoloW, love the feel of this video, nice and cozy

haha thanks bro
soso ENTERTAINING!! p.s. ligit screamed when i saw ate on your lockscreen ahahha
hehehe thank you so much nic! obviously have to show off my girl 😤
Great work mate. Your videos are getting bigger and better each upload! Keep doing what you're doing I'm sure you'll get the recognition you deserve. Perhaps leaning into the software engineer videos might help a bit? I know Jed Cal started off like that and moved into traveling and startup vlogging.
Thank you so much for the kind words, I appreciate it! Ooo yes I love Jed’s videos. Yeah I’ve been thinking about making software engineering videos just to help build an audience but I feel like I’ll be an imposter since I’m not too into it. It’ll kind of just feel like I’m faking it. But yes you’re right though, I need to find a niche to focus on, just gotta find one that I fully enjoy 😅
5:40 Facts 🤣
we love and hate the process
sick video and that but how do I get into software engineering?!?!?!
Alright so basically what you’re gonna wanna do is choose one of the two options. Either go to university or learn by yourself. University is easier and helps you branch out and understand different areas/roles you can go into being a developer. But don’t tell my university this. It’s kinda a waste of money since you can learn everyday online. Learning by yourself takes more dedication but if you stay consistent and make a lot of projects then you’ll be more skilled than if you were to go to university. Just choose a language (any you find interesting since most of the programming knowledge is transferable) and learn the syntax and make projects. Thank you for listening to my TED talk 🤓

Just came across your channel! I’m much older but everything you shared resonates with me so much. I just started my 3rd channel and think I’m finally ready to commit lol. Best of luck, looks like you’re about to pop off 🚀
You got this! It’s time to full send it 😤 And thank you so much! Hope everything goes well in all you do too!
I don't know what your decision will be and infact I'm only a minute into this video and I'm hooked. I subscribed within the first five seconds because of the quality from the jump. Whatever your decision is I hope it involves both and also your fulfillment. All the best 💪🏾
Aww thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video! At the moment I think i’m going to keep making these type of videos. Been enjoying making them a lot recently and it’s always fulfilling seeing comments like these, helps keep me creating

Hey, Paolow. Be reminded you're not alone. I also just restarted creating content here again because I was burned out making content I don't really like that much. Now I will also create videos for myself, not just for other people.

I'm trying to organize my ideas, because there are a lot of things I want to share with you (and your audience). Given your age, it's not a big deal to "not have everything figured out yet". It sounds like a Gary Vee cliche, but it's so true: you're still going to live about 5 more lives. So, what if it doesn't work out the way you expected? Well, you can start all over again. And still have PLENTY of time. The other thing is, you must ask yourself: What does SUCCESS mean to YOU? Everyone has a different definition or idea of success. Seek fulfilment and improvement, not instant gratification. Take it from a 53 year old who has reinvented himself more than once. I'm at a point in my life where I don't take crap from anyone, and I don't seek to please others. I just want to follow my dreams, and my passions. If you constantly do something you love, chances are you will eventually get very good at it, and then you'll be "successful". I've learned that it's much more important to enjoy the process, than to enjoy the final destination. If streaming and gaming make you happy, then by all means go and do it. But don't just do it because you think you've perceived a certain degree of success. And by the way, I think you can combine both things: you can document your streaming journey, as part of your daily vlogs. I can't speak about streaming and gaming, cause I'm not familiar with those content creation areas. But I do know about making videos on TH-cam, and I can tell you that you're a very talented vlogger. Hope to have helped instead of adding to your confusion 😅
This is so true! I feel like we’re all just pressured to have everything figured out so early but in reality we all still have so much time to start something new and fail. Thank you though for this comment, it really means a lot and yes it helped a lot don’t you worry 😂 Hope everything goes well for you too as you chase your dreams!
