Burny Mattinson Theater Dedication

On the 9th of September 2024, the main screening room at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California was renamed the Burny Mattinson Theater. Burny's family and friends were in attendance, with the proceedings overseen by Clark Spencer, President, Walt Disney Animation Studios; and Jennifer Lee, Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Inscription: "Burny Mattinson was an extraordinary artist, storyteller and filmmaker who dedicated 70 years of his life to bringing magic to the screen for Walt Disney Animation Studios. From his humble beginnings as an in-betweener on 1955's 'Lady and the Tramp,' to his artistic contributions to beloved classics such as 'The Jungle Book,' the 'Winnie the Pooh' films, 'The Rescuers' and 'The Lion King;' from his creative leadership on 'The Great Mouse Detective' to his direction on 'Mickey's Christmas Carol,' Burny did it all with grace, style, humor, and heart. Burny continues to inspire those who knew him and worked alongside him, as well as new generations of Disney storytellers."
