Eh, if you were outside with plenty of sun, the OG GBA and 001 is fine (I played Boktai like this back in the day). But in any other environment, the 101 model is a million times better.

That is exactly why I wanted to make this video. This cable is super rare and was only able to make this video thanks to Patreon subscriber Anapan. He saw all my other link cable content and wanted me to make videos using the Micro so he sent me this cable. You are correct though. It is cheaper and more efficient to just buy another GBA and a standard link cable than trying to track one of these down.

@ZackGaz thats unfortunate,shorts covering the linking functionality of games are easier to make and less editing needes isnt it? One thing tough: will you finish the ngpc to dreamcast cable series? One more game left😃

@@ugarit5 Yes, Shorts take much less time to create. But I am happy with all the NGPC linking games I covered. Don't think I will make any more because they got so few views. And yes, at the time of this post, I only have one DC-to-NGPC linking game left. Funny you ask because I am playing through both games now... and holy cow are they awful. Unfortunately, the link mode in the NGPC game only becomes unlocked when you basically finish the game. Must admit, it has been rough to find this motivation because the NGPC is literally a slot machine simulator. You basically need to hit the jackpot many times, which is very random and requires hours of grinding. Already sank many hours into this slogfest and finding it very difficult to continue. And the music is driving me mad. There is a reason why no one has documented this link process before.

@@ZackGaz It must be a flag there that can be edited quickly using a hex editor. Unfortunately there are few ppl knowing ngpc code,if it was a gameboy game i couldve helped.

Oh nice. I missed out on this back in the day but would have liked the Game B mode. What other link cable games did you play with your bros?

@@ZackGaz Well Pokemon obviously, but we had a handful of them. Tetris, Monopoly and 3-player F-1 Race. We also used to a trade farm animals in Harvest Moon GB. Did you have many chances to play multiplayer GB while the system was current? Pokemon aside, multiplayer on Game Boy seemed like a secret only we knew about. Even today it isn't well appreciated, that's why I enjoy your series!

@@andrewpatton6194Gotcha, yeah, wanted to ask about which linking games you played so I can potentially cover them in future episodes. I have not gotten to Monopoly yet but have it on the list. I have not covered Tetris and Pokemon because these are the two games most likely played with a link cable and figured I should spend my time covering other games no one had a chance to play. And I covered F1 Race in my All 4p Compatible GB games video. Growing up, I played linking Tetris, Dr. Mario, Tecmo Bowl, Tennis, Faceball, and Blades of Steel with my brother/friends. The most difficult part was finding someone who had a second copy of the game and willing to play multiplayer. Options were very limited back then. Flash carts, the Analogue Pocket, and GC Gameboy Player make it easier to capture footage now.

Ah, thanks for the tip but I am not sure if it would work. Thing is, they have a GBA cart with a gyro sensor so you can play WarioWare Twisted. It doesn't say if it is backwards compatible with GBC games and Tilt Sensor games (not gyro sensor). Either way, wouldn't be able to use a GBA cart on a GBC (and wouldn't work in SP GBA models). Still, I wasn't aware of any tilt/gyro/motion flash carts. Maybe one day someone will make the ultimate flash cart with built-in gyro/rumble/speaker/infrared/solar sensor... but that would carry a heavy price tag.

@ they have a GBC one but it isn’t labeled as having a tilt sensor. It’s the pink 2MB MBC7 Flash Cart in their unique Gameboy carts section. But it looks like it’s out of stock right now

The opening theme to Metroid II is easily one of the best tunes on the original Gameboy.

If you wanted to save a few bucks, the Japanese version is way cheaper than the American version. You don't need to know Japanese to play it either.

Yeah, under utilized for sure. To be fair though, Rumble technology was still in its infancy.

@@cleothebirb7973 The N64DD, Gamecube mic, Transfer Pak, GB Camera/Printer, SNES Mouse, Super Scope, Zapper, PowerPad, Wii Balance Board, Rumble Carts, Motion Sensor games... Nintendo likes to develop really cool, innovated stuff, then immediately abandon it.

I hate Clu Clu Land. So much. Cannot stand the controls.

Yeah, would have been much cooler if it was 4p compatible.

The data transfer between DC and NGPC games is instantaneous because there is very little data being transferred between the two systems. I'd guess single digit kilobtyes at most. Whereas GC-to-GBA is much more data which is why it might take 5-10 seconds when linking Cube games. Thanks for watching!
