@@dcsblessedbees yup they’ll take about a lb/hive in the Fall
Those feeders make great pollen feeders, I need to get me one. It doesn't grow mold on ya leaving it on, I wish I could do that I get to wet in Winter. Thanks for sharing, Blessed Days...
@@dcsblessedbeesyeah I’m happy with it, got buried in snow last winter and was still good. They are kinda pricey but I think worthwhile
Hi Justyn 👋 Great job on the pollen feeder
Looks like the bees found your buckets. I like to smoke the yard to, seems to help keep the others calmer. Thanks for sharing, Blessed Days...
@@dcsblessedbees Thanks, have a good day. Yeh they really like the syrup a little slower this year but nice and heavy
You'll be covering the hives soon?
@@michaelnight2496 just started this weekend, but could wait until end of Oct. just want to get it done before snow.
Extremely valuable skill that you have.
@@binloveds Thank you :)
This is so awesome!
That would definitely startle me a bit to come upon so many 🐝 bees swarming! 🌺
Oh wow! Why does this happen?
I can't believe how many more bees that you have in just a few years! 🌺🐝🌺
I find this to interesting! And I don't have to get stung! 🌸🐝🌸
@@starglitter1966 lol yeh
They like apples? Easy mite treatment. Impressive hives!
@@starglitter1966 Thanks
Excellent Justyn! That's amazing!! Like Christmas 🎄 🐝
@@starglitter1966 Thanks yeh it’s pretty cool
LOL that wasp got ya
Yeh they’ve stung me more than the bees this fall, got one in my nose a few nights ago 💀
How did you make the fum. Soup how much do you apply
@@brianmacinnis8245 hey sorry forgot to leave recipe. 1 cup syrup 2g fumagillin 3 times 7 days apart 1 cup to a hive 1/2 cup to a nuc
@@justyn5408 by syrup you mean sugar water ??
@@brianmacinnis8245 yes sugar water or HFCS whatever is available. The original recipe I got uses a thinner syrup like 1/1 but I doubt it makes a diference
Nice video ❤

SOME OF THE FAMOUS QUEEN MAKERS SAY THAT YOU SHOULD PUT THEM IN THE HIVE AFTER STARTING THEM AND DONT TOUCH THEM FOR 2 WEEKS

Still creeps me out the idea of handling bees 😮

I love your content and your work. Respectfully, please work on your audio. Looking forward to seeing more!❤
Thanks, yes I know the audio isn’t great. I have a mic just waiting for an adapter to use with my phone.
Swarm catching is my favorite job of beekeeping
beautiful how many give do you have ?
I have 40 colonies this year
I think this is scary
LOL 🥴
Saya sangat menyukainya...salam sukses selalu dari Indonesia
Thank You
Oh look my first swarm... 🤯😶🌫️
Lol
Check Phil the bee man. Honest take on using formic pro. He will never use again.
I might still try it on a few hives I bought a jug of 65% formic and some meat pads for a good deal. I’ve heard with formic pro 1 strip at a time is easier on the hives
nice ❤
Hey Justyn, did you find the api life var slowed brood rearing down or caused any queen loss? I have around 1000 colonies in MB and haven't tried it out before. I was thinking about using it soon, but don't want it to affect the winter nest too much, but I'd like to get away from apivar as I've been seeing resistance.
@@brendonh91 Wow a 1000 hives that’s cool, I just hit 40. Surprisingly I didn’t see any brood or queen issues I had some where it was right over top of brood and there was still all stages that looked normal. I got this treatment idea from the creators of Saskatraz. Next spring I want to switch from Apivar to oxalic acid vapour and maybe formic in June, we’ll see how it goes…
Nice! Do you use the local saskatraz queens? We had been running closer to 1500 colonies, but we had a terrible winter so we're looking to switch every queen to the local genetics saskatraz queens within the next couple of years so hopefully they workout better than the Italians have 🤞
@@brendonh91 I have a few local, and a bunch of the ones from California. This year I grafted my own again, my best hives have my own queens from last year. Next year I’ll make my own again and hopefully graft off a few local beekeepers hives to get some diversity.
Nice man
@@paulhurst6917 Thanks
Yeah they do burn a bit but they generally dont of you go slow as you did that was just unlikely. Bet they were warm
What are your tops made from? Concrete board? Looks easier to make than traditional
@@southie6033 yes lids are 3/4” form ply cut to dimensions of the super with 3/8” x 2 1/2” top entrance and a 2” hole for feeding

Thanks for the great video! I have not ventured into that realm yet of creating queens~ your video is a super introduction!
Thank you, I’m still fairly new to making my own queens but have been very happy with the results so far.
