This is the story of how the world sounds different because somebody-in fact, almost everybody-told Miles O’Malley that it couldn’t. Gifted with an inventor’s curiosity and an entrepreneur’s spirit, Miles ventured as a teenager into the world of instrument making with a healthy irreverence for tradition. And at every turn, he found himself discouraged by an industry utterly committed to the dub...

What a great Interview. Great Questions from you and great Answers and Information from one of my Sax Heroes. He is such a wonderful awesome Player and human being. His Sound is everything .
Here's my "very cool video" comment. So, ya, very cool & congratulations!
OH MY GOSH IM IN THIS VIDEO 😱😱😱
😀
That's some crazy drive man
I don’t know who you are, don’t know anything about music, but I love this story!
Why do you sound jaw like Dana white
Kirk Whalum is one of those who made me fall in love with the Tenor sax. He has a big, bold, smooth, and vibrant sound. He can adjust his sound to any genre of music. I had to find out the sax he played and bought a Keilwerth Tenor. Although Kirk Whalum now plays the P. Mauriat, I still enjoy listening to his albums.
Nice interview. I did not know about her dyslexia and compensating by developing a good ear, and admire how her mom kept her with it. My childhood violin teacher pushed me into sight reading which became exhausting, and burned me out by high school, rather than allowing me to play fun songs. Leaving the violin sent me into a different trajectory in life, but I can still produce rosin dust for fun! Glad to have seen this interview.
A really great human being, the world is lucky to have her❤️
Inspiring and motivating to see such passion for and commitment to a highly-valued craft and art!
Sweet all-around
Musicians - 10 arrangement - 10 video - 10 music eng/mix - Wtf happened?
This brother is so good and such a NICE guy.
Sounds great but reminds me of someone playing Trombone Hero hitting the notes perfectly 😀
beautiful 👏
Damn that's a wet sound! Love it
that first effect of the fluet sounds like a fart and its whacky....second effect very nice make the music good...but that First effect its a NO NO!
First!!
Fabulous Interview revealing the Multiplicity of Kirk's Spectacular Talents Blended In His Performace! 💖
Way way WAY too modest, dude! You awesome!
So glad to see the bean bending matrix in this!
Wow! Thank you so much for your video. This was very inspirational on many levels.
You are so welcome!
Who made the neck strap 🤔
☮️🎵🎶🎷
When did spike Lee learn to play the saxophone?😁
Stax is the coolest label ever.
How often are you confused with the Georgia O’Malley? Got a horn from them, cheap but what I needed, now I find your just 100 miles (no pun intended) down the road.
Hello Kirk. I'm sure you won't see this but my experience with you began in Houston 1980 at Steak and Ale and you guys were just starting. Todd Rick the Judge. Then Cody's, then the Roof. Several years later I saw you again at Baxters in Austin and I still remember when I walked in you bowed to me in the middle of a solo. Great times. Then another time at a private party we played ping pong at a house on Lake Travis. Saw you again at the Paramount with you and Larry Carlton. Every time I saw you and I asked you to sign something you always said God Loves You. I have the albums and pictures and cherish the moments. You are such a great musician. Oh yea I forgot the time I saw you at the Texas Union Center and you showed me some jewelry. A saxophone with 3 rubys. And you said Ruby Ruby Ruby. A song you wrote for your wife. I miss seeing you. Great interview. Take care and I hope you get this comment.
U seen him play with bob james too? LLivee?
Yo Miles, wanna make some mac n cheese?
very nice video and story. one piece of advice....you/he probably should make clear his company's name at least once and probably multiple times (unless i missed it somehow)
Thanks for the feedback. This short film was meant to just be about him and his passion. His company does have a logo in the credits. omalleyhorns.com
It's very inspiring to see someone given a gift from above and using it. Thank you
You are impressive. I'm an instrument maker myself and you have my respect. I wish you much success.
what a wonderful video!❤
this seems like the sort of thing my band teacher would show me, actually he might stumble upon this some day and show me lol. It's very cool
Miles, do you make large bore euphonium?
Miles, I just love your work and hopefully I can pay a visit to your workshop sometimes (BTW I live in Australia) 👍👍👍
Bravo to Miles, and to M&A for making this!
Loved this video, and I love Miles!
You’re doing a great service in making the whole horn, so good to see someone find and follow their passion.
