Dear Brother, After reviewing your entire setup, particularly the protection devices, I have a few observations for you to consider. It appears that the SPD (Surge Protection Device), which ideally contains Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs), is missing from your distribution boxes. These are ceramic-based components that adjust their resistance based on the voltage applied to them. As the voltage increases, their resistance decreases. Typically, these devices have a small window or indicator that is green, showing that the device is functional. They are directly connected to your AC/DC ground earthing. I didn’t notice these in any part of your setup, either next to your nitrox inverter or in the main house DB box, which recently burnt out and was replaced. Please take this matter seriously for the safety of your home and solar system by ensuring that both AC and DC SPDs are installed.What I observed in all your DB boxes are breakers and changeovers, but not SPDs. This could likely have been the reason for your recent electrical fire. A heavy surge from the grid can only be managed by an AC SPD, while a surge from the solar system requires a DC SPD. Furthermore, if you install AC and DC fuses together with the SPDs, it would offer comprehensive protection for your system and home appliances.Your voltage and current protection device (MORA) is adequate for additional protection. However, I strongly recommend installing both AC and DC SPDs with individual ground earthing, along with AC and DC fuses. I have extensive experience and practical knowledge of solar systems and have assisted people in installing systems not only in Pakistan but also in the Middle East and Australia. Unfortunately, many new or low-cost installers in Pakistan tend to neglect these additional protective measures, but they are critically important. Lastly, 6mm AC is capable of handling a full household load up to 9kw ideally. To give you an idea, note the followings. For a 6mm² copper wire, assuming it handles up to 40 amps and considering a typical 230V AC supply:Power (Watts) = Voltage (Volts) × Current (Amps)Power = 230V × 40A = 9,200 watts (or 9.2 kW).This means a 6mm² copper wire can safely handle an electrical load of up to 9.2 kW under ideal conditions.
