1979 C30 SQUAREBODY CARBEURETOR REBUILD, TUNE.....FAIL!
Well, I'm finally getting some more work done on the 1979 C30 Chevy Squarebody that I drove home in the previous revival videos! In this video, I'm going to give the tried and true Rochester Quadrajet a thorough cleaning and rebuild, as well as change out the spark plugs and wires. Then, it's time for the first real test drive with everything properly tuned! Not to give away the ending, but it doesn't quite go as planned - you'll see what I mean. But we do get to hear that old small block 400 open up and run properly on the road! As always, thank you for watching! If you haven't checked out the revival videos on this old rig, be sure to do so. This rig has a great history, and an awesome restoration in it's future!

1975 Ford F600 Repair and Revival Part 2!
มุมมอง 2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Recently I got a message on Facebook from a local contractor asking if I could get this 1975 F600 dump truck he had purchased back on the road so that he could use it for his contracting business. Although my plan since starting this channel has been to take on more customer repair work and eventually do that full time, I didn't plan on doing so right away. But, when opportunity knocks you need...

1979 Chevy C30 Squarebody Revival Part 2!
มุมมอง 18K2 ปีที่แล้ว
8 years ago this C30 was parked in a field at my parent's place in Nebraska after blowing all of it's transmission fluid all over the highway while hauling cattle. My dad and my brother nursed it home and it's been sitting ever since. Now I'm going to attempt, in 2 days, to get it running and drive it 250 miles home to Wyoming so that I can put it back to work. I started this revival with no id...

Wyodak Mine Family Fun Day 2022
มุมมอง 3392 ปีที่แล้ว
Wyodak Mine is a coal mine in NE Wyoming that feeds multiple local power plants. This year marks Wyodak Mine's 100th anniversary! In this video my family and I are attending their annual employee and retiree appreciation event, where we got to check out some mining equipment and go for a ride in haul trucks and water trucks. I wanted to give those of you not familiar with coal mining operations...

Give thanks you reach home safe
Another LS swap huh. Monkey see monkey do..
I thought the whole idea to film these videos was for viewers to watch and learn, Not have you show us the problems then say it’s all been done,.
Time for some more videos
My barn find. 1983 C30, 2 wheel drive. Has a dump bed on it. Running great.
22 mins in you sound like me 😅😅
I hate autos throw a nv 4500 at her
Mine has an optimistic 100 mph on the speedo , 😂 might be possible if the load is heavy and the hill steep . I wouldn’t wanna be in it
The thing that usually caused these old trucks to get parked were the brakes needing repair. Finding replacement brake drums is nearly impossible and any leak in any wheel cylinder caused the entire system to fail. The old brake boosters have a tendency to rust and then loose engine vacuum. These trucks did not have tandem master cylinders either. Once the brakes fail then mother nature takes it toll on the coolant system and the fuel system. The ignition and electrical system slowly die as well. The engines were tough as nails but were not easily interchangeable with other Ford vehicles.
I recently resurrected a 1967 F600 and the adventure was so much fun and rewarding. Thanks for a couple of really great videos and good luck with your TH-cam channel.
I am becoming more and MORE impressed with these older trucks such as the FORD F600. Even more so if they're the rare 4wd conversions with Rockwell axles. But the skyrocketing costs of new trucks, SUVs and cars, even RVs is outrageous. And tires on light-duty trucks are $$$ since they went above 16" these days, cars too. Disc brakes although great, seem to fail due caliper design flaws (Dodge). But imagine this, buying up old heavy-duty rigs like this cheap online or from local farmers, and then rebuilding them into safe & reliable daily drivers mounted with new aluminum service bodies or flatbeds, or even remount bodies such as RV or ambulance bodies from high mileage doner vehicles that have blown (high tech) engines (the failed 6.0 & 6.4 Powerstroke). I foresee some VERY nice old rigs being saved, plus saving on yearly taxes and insurance on them versus the newer overpriced ones that require certified technicians or dealerships to repair lately. Great content!👍
Is this the 4 speed? Whats the top speed
It was a 4 speed with a two speed rearend. The FT engines had governors and max speed was around 50/55mph.
Steve dolsage how ever ya spell his last name loves Quadra jets
Can I please buy this truck from you? 🙏😭
love the fact you are fixing the truck for your dad.
What happened it's been 5 months
Are you going to order something for Christi and pick it up at the store?
These engines are great sounds great
What do expect it’s a Chevy truck 👍
Just need to be run and clean out the old gas out
She is nice truck square body
I have a 82 crew cab dually I love it it been parked for a while but planning to get it on the road Good luck
were did you buy the new gas tank/? and how do you bleed the brakes ? Thank Ya.
The tank was from Summit Racing, I believe manufactured by Tanks Unlimited if I remember correctly. To bleed the brakes I bled the master cylinder first, then I bled the slave cylinder (located under the cab, attached to the booster). Then I bled the individual wheel cylinders starting at the closest to the slave cylinder and working my way out.
@@sagebrushmechanic, Thank ya ppreciate Ya.👍
My 67 F000 had an fuel tank behind the seat. The cab was identical to the F100 and so was the fuel tank. The brakes bled at the wheel cylinders and at the booster (on the frame under the driver's seat). School busses had dual boosters.
Thanks 👍@@robertclark2714
Have you cleaned the inside of your car
Thanks for the vid, now I know how to do the brakes on my F600, btw the brakes will harden up the more you use them, I had the same issue when me and my buddy replaced the master cylinder
Awesome truck!!! Love the co-pilot.
Awesome! I'm considering purchasing a 1970 F600, going to look at it tomorrow..
That ole 1ton will.be sweet truck with a 6.0
I think so too, I can’t wait to get it in and get to work on it. Unfortunately I have a couple of things to finish up to make room for it lol. Thanks for watching!
That runs like sewing machine 👍
6.0s are dogs. LS engines have valvetrain problems, blow head gaskets and they leak everywhere. LS swaps are absolutely not as cheap and easy as everyone says they are. No need to do what everyone else is doing. The small block chevy is just fine. They love cam and head upgrades like every other engine does.
@@shootermcgavin2819 yeah your right dad put 340 thousand miles on an 05 chevy 2500
Re part 1 vid, do you recall if the rear brakes were 15" x 5"? Thank you!
Hey Mark! I never did measure the pads or drum, just based parts off of the axle code on the truck and confirmed that with the numbers stamped on the axle itself, then matched the new parts with the old. I do remember seeing that spec in the axle description, but I can’t confirm it with any measurements I took. Sorry I can’t be more helpful on that one. Thanks for watching!
@@sagebrushmechanic No worries. Just thought I'd throw the question out there as I'm looking at some donor/parts trucks for a drum for my 77 F600 4x4 and seeing if any of the 2wd models may have used the same. Thanks for your reply!
Do you recall if those were 15" drums with 5" wide shoes? Thanks for the informative vid.
Thanks for your reply on Part 2!
Nice job buddy, what did you do sell your dads truck and get a k5? Lol
Thanks! Lol, no I’ve had the K5 for 20+ years, it’s an ongoing project. Dad’s C30 is sitting in my driveway, have much bigger plans for it now! Just gotta finish up a couple of other things first. It’s all gonna be on the channel though.
Great video she's a beautiful ol' girl keep the videos coming I'll be subscribing
Thank you, and thanks for watching and subscribing! I’ll be pumping them out as fast as I can get the work done!
Would love to see some cold starts of all of your carbureted vehicles from inside of them showing us what you do with the gas pedal to get them started. During first starts too!
I’ll try to remember that and include some of it moving forward. Thanks for watching!
@@sagebrushmechanic thank you!!
Sweet square body! On a side note, any of those Peterbilts for sale? I’m digging that 359.
Thanks! And thanks for watching! Those are my dad’s trucks, at some point the 379 will probably be moving on, but I don’t think he’ll ever let the 359 go lol!
Hydraulic brakes are a simple system. If they don’t feel right, there’s something wrong and they WILL fail. Loaded that truck will be heavy requiring all you braking power. If it’s not right it’s extremely dangerous on the road. If it’s farm use only and doesn’t go on the road, you might be able to limp around with it. On the road, you never know when someone will pull out in front of you.
I don’t think anything was torqued properly. If you can get those lug nuts off with a cordless impact, they were not torqued.
Great job on what you have done! Get some rest and see you on the next video!
Thank you!
Nice
Thanks!
Put the seal on in front of the bad seal. Looks as if there is enough shaft on the shift shaft to seal the leak.
I laughed each time I seen your blue shirt start to look more and more the color of your pants. For me getting dirty escalates quickly.
ρяσмσѕм 😭
Any updates your content is great
Thank you and thanks for watching! Updates will be coming on the C30 as I get some more work done on it, I’ve been busy with some customer work lately which I’ll be putting up soon. This trucks future has changed a little bit, I’ll fill everyone in on that with the next video.
Wow. If you're going to start a channel how about try being original. You are not Derek from vice grip garage. Smdh
You went there with every intention of replacing the seals in the transmission case but didn’t bring a $6 seal puller or the shift shaft seal.
Awsome trip great video.
Thanks for watching!
That's really good old truck
Your cool but a little arrogant like others I know on here even my pops wtf is wrong with people
