Race cars and motorcycles in magic the gathering? What’s next, a professional sports themed set?

This new set doesn’t seem like magic to me anymore.

Convoke means you can tap creatures to pay its mana cost. Each creature can pay for a mana of one of the colour of themselves. For example, you can cast the wandering rescuer by tapping 2 white creatures and 3 whatever colour creatures

I’m 35 years old now but I had friends in middle school who played this game. They also played Final Fantasy games. I’m only getting into this game now for the same reason they were playing: strategy! I downloaded the app and for me that’s enough. Thanks!🧙‍♂️

I highly recommend going to a pre-release! It's a fun and casual environment where everyone is happy to try out the new cards and open some packs.

Hey man, quick question, is there some error with this clip? To me it says it's only available to members but it came up 2 days ago. And it seems only I have seen it. Am I missing something?

I'd prefer if most sets had only 2 commander decks with one major set (Bloomburrow for example) having 4 (Expansion sets like LOTR and Fallout still 4) but just over saturation with commander decks that are mid with a few standouts.

I have been in magic for 1 year. Things I would suggest if you want to GET IN GET IN to magic. Dry erase tokens. You can get them super cheap. But infinitokens is a cool brand. Would also recommend instead of a fancy deck box holder getting a stanley organizer. Can hold 12 decks or fewer and then extra space for other items like dice or other stuff.

Neon-colored TRON-like motorcycles in Magic? A checkered flag as a set symbol? I think this is a terrible development for Magic the Gathering... The setting of Magic has always been a world of magical creatures, alchemy and mysterious lands. All that pop culture has no place in Magic in my opinion. I recently got back into it again and I am actually thinking about dumping it again.

36 packs was the standard since they got rid of draft/set packs.

It looks and feels weird AF. I might buy useful singles, but probably no packs or bundles.

Thematically it doesn’t seem to fit Magic but maybe this is WotC’s attempt at faster gameplay (race to the finish line)?? I’ll wait wait for more info to see how the community responds before picking it up. The race art does look good. The foils should really pop! Thanks. 👍

I'm not excited about this set, but if my friends want to split the cost of the packs, we might do that. I'm mainly waiting for the Tarkir set coming after Atherdrift.

Oh and if I had to guess I’d imagine the finish line bundle is going to be like the duskmourn nightmare bundle. If that gives you any ideas of what it’ll be like.

Prerelease can be a lot of fun. You should try one or two and see ? Maybe get the Mrs to do so with you ? Usually they have alot of hype and give an over all good feeling. Just my opinion of course.

WotC just can't seem to make bad sets. I had zero excitement for Duskmourn and Bloomburrow, initially. Then I was seriously positively surprised. I feel the same about this set. Sounded way too strange and random, but I bet it will be very fun, thematic and with fun mechanics as usual. But I do hope I won't buy it, I have too many sets 😂 Gotta play with the old first. I think I must have 300+ unopened boosters Play booster boxes are cut, they used to have 36 boosters and now it will be 30 up ahead. They say price will be adjusted accordingly. But it do mean that those buying and needing those extra 6 packs will have to pay more overall. As buying booster boxes makes each pack cost less than other options

I am deeply enjoying Duskmourn on Magic: Arena. It's still a set with really amazing fun mechanics and things to play around with. The overlords and enchantment oriented things are my favorites (Eerie etc) JACKPOT token! "Everywhere" is one of the good ones worth a lot for a token! Convoke (Your creatures can help cast this spell. Each creature you tap while casting this spell pays for 1 or one mana of that creature's color.

You don’t know whether there will be a restock on this coming at any point do you?

I am new to the channel, new to tcg. My first tcg is lorcana. I downloaded the game for this tcg and I am actually enjoying it Your wife is a good sport. She's there with you. 😭

I assume these packs are just valid for nostalgia players. Seeing all these cards mixed together and drafting them bring back memories. And the wild and unpredictable experience having so many sets combined like this.

I think you're onto something at 23:50 ! Long time player here. You're absolutely right that boosters create situations where you have to spend a bunch of money just to get the cards you want. I don't think this is a problem with meld, but with booster packs. Most MTG players have a point in their journey when they realize that buying packs is a terrible way to collect. If you want to get the most out of the hobby, I'd highly recommend buying singles. This way you get the cards you want without the junk, and you end up paying WAY less (foundations play boosters, for example, cost $7 and on average contain $2.50-$3.00 worth of cards, which usually won't even be cards you want). If you want the experience of opening packs without flushing money down the toilet, I'd highly recommend trying the Draft format. In my opinion, this is what booster packs are good for. I think it's the best way to play the game.

Buy the foundations bundle box to go with your starter you got i even pulled a doubling season out of mine. Going to open two pre-release boxes with my son tonight see if we get anything cool.
