England don't have a tactical identity. They just rely on the individual brilliance of their players, they hope that the top players in the perform the best like they do for their club. They lack a suitable style of play and chemistry with each other .

All UTD have turned into in the last decade has been a stain on a player's career. Some make it out of it and succeed after, others are buried there and never recover... Also there's always been a pattern at UTD even when fergie was still there but it was made more evident when he left..there has always been a scapegoat, a target to pin point & attack for all the bad things happening.. In 2014 is was Moyes In 2019 it was Mourinho In 2020 it was Pogba In 2022 it was Ronaldo & De Gea The fact is none of them were to blame..the club itself has created this dark shroud over them that they can't seem to shake this bad luck curse... All I know is alot of 🐍 still reside at Man Utd... If a cancer isn't cut out and killed off early it spreads to the point where nothing can be done.. that's kinda what position UTD are in.. Someone or something in that club is chaining them down in this hole of failure and they can't seem to get out of it. Although I will say the biggest shift we've had in the last decade was the Ronaldo Piers Morgan interview. That interview started a chain reaction that finally got Glazers in the hot seat and inevitably got them out of the club... Are INEOS any better? Well time will tell but if not for Ronaldo returning even if it was a panic buy from UTD in fear of CR7 going to City, Glazers would likely still be in charge cos nobody else would've had the balls to call them out. As a UTD fan I thank Ronaldo for his sacrifice...he got vilified but the UTD fans and everybody in the club and also his 2nd UTD stint became a stain on his iconic career but he started a movement that seems fingers crossed to be going up instead of down. Ironic how UTD started slowly going to shit in autumn 2009 just after Ronaldo left & it took him coming back and calling out UTD for the garbage it has become for something to change... But much work still needs to be done...UTD are miles away from top 6 contention let alone top 4 or even title contention.

Not difficult, in hindsight to understand. When SAF and Gill were there United had the best Manager and Executive who ran everything football. Once they left , the owners , wh had no idea about the football side , hired non football people to run the club. The rest is history. United started a carousel of Manager hired who’s style of football never fit the identity of rhe Club. Moyes, at that point , had a small club mentality that. Ever suited the personnel. Now, perhaps he could have grown into the Manchester United mentality but he never got that chance, which was a mistake. LVG and Mourihno were NAMES, but neither’s style of play suited United. LVG with his ball control and endless passing and Mourihno and his defensive tactics. United have always be a high tempo forward passing attacking team. None of those attributes were in LVG or Mourihno lockers. OGS, was the right Manager but lacked the strength and discipline of his predecessors. OGS had the best record of any of the Managers before and after but he was to friendly and supportive of his players who let him down. Since then , Rangnick , Ten Hag and now Amorim are all possession based high line high press, play out from the back sytle Managers and that’s not what the players are best suited to play. So here we are. Ignorant and Incompetent Ownership and incompetent executives and flawed ill suited Managers added all Tongans United are bang average at best.

Rooney was amazing, but not as amazing as the English folks made him out to be. He was in his prime when I was a kid and England went crazy over him but me as a non-Englishman, I got more exposure to the greatness of names such as the obligatory Messi/Ronaldo but also practically half of the Brazilian and Spanish national team at any given time. Even back then it felt like the only ones who saw Rooney as the next messiah were English themselves. Whoever else commented that the nation set way higher expectations to those players than would have been reasonable is spot on. Even today: There are plenty of great English players but the English hype for the '24 Euros once again was way over their actual value. As much as it might hurt the passionate supporter, England hasn't had a properly competitive line-up for several decades now and this still holds true in the current era.

Thing is, as another non-Englishman, I think if Rooney had come up in another country, they'd have used him better. He's a little too active, he does all the "graft" the English like to see. Maybe I caught the hype, but I do think somewhere else, he'd be greater.

I believe that it's Man U's self image that needs to change. The club was the pampered darling of English football for so long that it got stuck. Ten years down the line commentators still present Man U vs. Liverpool as "the greatest derby in club football" when everyone knows it's not. It's no use in blaming the players, either. Di Maria achieved a lot before and after Man U, but while there something was obviously wrong. If a player like that get benched, you should perhaps lift your gaze and ask how come. And it's not just di Maria. Now it's Bruno Fernandez, normally a fantastic player who struggles. And between di Maria and Fernandez there have been others. It's plain to see that the joy is gone. Man U has to accept that they are a mediocre club today who lives in the past. A club like Nottingham Forest has been able to do the necessary changes with far less money, so why not Man U? Start to accept what the club has become and admit that there's no way to buy oneself out of the predictament. Then take it from there.

As an Australian I’m only a casual soccer fan. But the way I see the man United situation is times have changed and so has the game and man United hasn’t been able to keep up with the evolution of the modern game. We have more “super teams” thanks to massive investments from billionaires, the game isn’t as physical and gritty as it was in United’s golden era and of course the club hasn’t been able to uphold its culture of proud hard working men amongst the new generation. As a casual I have to ask, what happened to United’s youth development programs? They used to have great grassroots development and lots of homegrown talent but now not so much. so what happened?
