    Your grading is fantastic. Do you mind if I ask the depth range for the turtle shots. I have a a6000 and A6500 was looking to experiment with my original a6000 in a seafrogs housing. I don’t know how the white balance would holdup at depth.

    excuse me, fixed lens for a6000 like 35 f1.8 are sharper than 16 50... is that still appreciable with the underwater housing or not? i speak for both photo and video

    Simply stated, your images are stunning! Your videos are amazing and you have done an excellent job in your presentation. Love also the selection of music you use. I have the same setup as you, using the Sony A6000, Meikon underwater housing and Sola video lights (up to 3800F w/ dome diffuser). While I have had the camera for yrs., I just acquired the housing last summer. I usually shoot using Sealife and GoPro but am looking to amp up my photography to get quality (like yours). So few questions: 1st do you have to add extra weight due to the buoyancy of the housing; 2nd do you shoot always raw thus never need to use white balance (I plan to shot Jpeg so will need WB); 3rd can you offer a basic beginner setting to help me get started. I will be taking a trip to Turks and Caicos next week, expect to do 25 dives so hopefully by the end of the trip will have 1 or 2 good photos. Thanks!

      I owe you a debt of gratitude! Thank You! I know you have worked hard on your videos and I have studied a number of them because you do an excellent job of taking the pics and helping others to learn. I very much like your favorite pic of the dotted blue stingray in black & white. Like you said, it was unexpected and although your buddy was having trouble equalizing, you got a fantastic shot out of the dive! So, after reading your response, I took your advice and went to a pool last night. Set the camera for RAW, set in Manual, set underwater auto, set auto ISO 100 - 800, set center button to focus area, and used the 35mm f/1.8 lens. I was in ~14' of H20 and had props to take pics of. Well, you were right! This pics turned out really decent and I have a better level of comfort for my upcoming trip. I was always intimidated w/ camera settings and shooting in RAW seemed out of my league but your advice and encouragement was exactly what I needed. I was working on adjusting the aperture and the focus area. I don't recall changing the shutter speed, but most were 90 - 200 range (will need to work on that). So, your long reply was so worth it to me and I very much appreciate you taking the time to respond. For my trip on Sat (April 14th), I plan to take the kit lens and 35mm to compare. I will mostly be trying to take stills. Keep the videos coming and Thank You again :)!!!!

      I sent you an invitation through Shutterfly (remember I am quite newby at this). I am also on Facebook. I took the a6000 to Turks and Caicos in April 2018 and experimented w/ the kit lens and 35mm. This was my 1st attempt shooting in RAW and manual mode in the ocean. I wasn't too disappointed, my favorite shots were of a shark w/ the 35mm lens and I noted the shutter speed on those were above 1/160, mostly 1/250. I checked out your website and FB page and was blown away by your pics of the kite boarders and surfers. However, your UW pics can't be beat, not only for the subject matter but composition as well. So, will follow you on FB!

      Thank You Very Much!!!! I appreciate you taking the time to view my photos and leave me comments. There is so much to learn and I will use your tip of using Flexible Spot for shooting w/ a wide open aperture. For this summer I will be shooting quarries, not the Best for pretty colorful photos but I will work on composition and learning more camera control. Thank You Again from one of your favorite fans :)!

    Great footage on comparing both cameras. You did a great job. This is by far one of the best footage caught on a Sony A6000. I have been contemplating the capability of the A6000, but after seeing your footage I am convinced that I should use it, since I have one already and much affordable than the a7r II. What was your settings taking the video with A6000? Was the Meikon Underwater Camera Housing had a flat or dome port? Thank you for sharing.

      Hi, Thank you for getting back to me. That is some great information. I will be getting the Sony A6000 40m/130ft Meikon Underwater Camera Housing since it's the most affordable housing out there on the market. I thought the Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens look good, but maybe I will have another closer look at your video if I can see the difference. I like the Sony E PZ 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS Lens to be able to take wider angle shots and to be able to zoom in. For macro maybe the Sony E 35mm f/1.8 OSS Lens and of course it is a faster lens. Hoping to be able to use the A6000 when I go to St. Croix USVI soon.

    I am surprised you have not had any comments on this! It's a wonderful little film! Very appropriate choice of music too because it compliments the way the surfers suddenly leap up into the air and bound across the choppy waves in such a darting frenzy (I am a singer-songwriter-composer). Music with a traditional edge always lends so much more class than the usual electronic garbage we get bombarded with these days! Such wonderfully vivid light in Israel down on that windy sea! The FZ300 is a great camera but it's the users skills that make it work and you have managed to capture the excitement of a sport I have never seen before! Bravo!

    • @henryframpton
      @henryframpton 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      P.S. I discovered your kite surfing video via your link in the youtube commentary of a review on the FZ300 at artoftheimage.com. I have been deliberating buying 3 of these FZ300 cameras to help shoot my own music videos. I will be waiting however to see what new cameras appear at Photokina next week before I buy. Still, from what I have read and seen the FZ300 is a marvellous little camera for the money. I just wish it shot full HD 4K rather than the cropped version. Did you shoot this in 4K ?

    • @henryframpton
      @henryframpton 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers!… for my own work I still have not decided what to get for a first 4K camera. The G85/80 is out now which would offer superior quality being a 4/3 sensor mirrorless design plus as it can use interchangeable lenses it would of course be the better investment. However I too am on a limited budget at the moment but am desperate to start shooting some footage for my music videos with something! I will of course need other cameras for different simultaneous angle shooting and as my camera collection grows I think even though it's "go to" roll will eventually be replaced by something like the G85/80 or possibly the forthcoming GH5, the FZ300 would be a decent starter 4K camera that could later become a "set and leave" tripod mounted B or C camera in a multi shoot situation. I also do a lot of road cycling and for years I used to carry a pocket point and shoot with me for taking stills. I miss that old Casio ZX750! I would actually prefer to buy a 4K pocket point and shoot (that can take more than the miserable 5 minutes of 4K that the Sony RX100 MkV can) also with a fully articulating screen but the ones I have read about still aren't available yet ( Panasonic Lx200, Nikon DL 24-85) ...Anyway, I'm digressing into techy land here! In the end it's what you do with the equipment you have that is important! Again your video here proves that! ...It's just that the technology has moved on so much since the last time I owned a camera that it seems futile not to get hold of it to give one the most flexibility to express ones creativity!
