How I built a tripod phone clip to film my projects
In this video I'm presenting you how I designed and 3D printed a phone clip that attaches to a tripod. I was planning to use it to film my projects.
It is not a step-by-step instructional video. But the STEP/STL files will be made available.
Soon I'm planning to release a training video on how I design my parts in FreeCAD. Stay tuned.

I've been looking for the best POV holder for my action camera for a long time now. And I might have finally found one. Well, not exactly "found" - designed and 3D-printed myself. See how I did it and what shots I get. STL files: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6683450 Music: pixabay.com/pl/music/miekki-dom-edm-electric-guitar-214437/
I might have improved an exhaust pipe coupling
มุมมอง 506 หลายเดือนก่อน
Last week I had my car kind of fail on me. I came up with an idea on how to protect from the consequences of exhaust pipe coupling failures. See how I improved an off-the-shelve coupling so it won't break if it burns through and becomes fail-safe. Disclaimer: I'm neither trained car mechanic nor I take responsibility for any actions presented in this video. You're doing it on your own responsib...

Dartmoor Stream - MTB platform pedals overhaul
มุมมอง 2K3 ปีที่แล้ว
After a long absence (fighting Covid) on this channel I've finally shot another garage movie. I recently got myself a set of platform pedals for my MTB - Dartmoor Stream. Out of the box those were not really usable - the spindles were kind of stuck. In this video I'm presenting the maintenance procedure that makes those pedals perform as they should.
Vitus 979 Duralinox - building my new Eroica bike, pt. 2
มุมมอง 7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Two months after the first part, another part of this video is live. It took me quite a while to source some new parts and tools. But what's more important, I did some voice-over on the assembly this time. I'm getting more and more accustomed with the video production. Another part will come much sooner than this one. Enjoy!
Vitus 979 Duralinox - building my new Eroica bike, pt. 1
มุมมอง 25K4 ปีที่แล้ว
My current Eroica bike, the 1934 Kaminski (built most likely with Japanese tubing) developed a substantial crack in the seatstay. I'm hoping this year's Eroica Limburg won't be cancelled thus I need another bike. I came across this Virus 979 frame, glued aluminium with inverse lugs, Campagnolo Triomphe groupsed (upgraded with monoplanair brake calipers) and FIR/Campagnolo wheels. Enjoy! Still t...
How I fixed an old Philishave 282
มุมมอง 4644 ปีที่แล้ว
I've found my old shaver. It appeared to be dead. With only couple of euros in parts (new NiMH battery) and a quarter of time I got it working again. In the past the equipment was either built to last or it was made to be fixed with standard replacement parts. I miss these features in modern stuff.
Replacing a cassette on a road bike
มุมมอง 955 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video on how to replace a cassette on a road bike. Required special tools: - chain whip (see my other movie on how to make one) - locknut remover (adapter) - torque wrench Other tools (24 mm spanner and 24 mm socket for the torque wrench) are pretty standard - i.e. one should have them in their shed.
Make a chain whip
มุมมอง 1325 ปีที่แล้ว
A short video on how to make a chain whip - a tool used for removing a bicycle cassette. I had some problems with my tools, hence the whole process took longer than it should, though shorter than I expected. All materials that I've used were leftovers or not suitable for their intended purpose. The chain, for example, is more than 50 years old, originally used on a (now vintage) 10 speed (2x5) ...

Pressing bearings into bicycle wheel
มุมมอง 98K7 ปีที่แล้ว
A howto on pressing cartridge bearings into a flip-flop bicycle wheel. No sophisticated tools needed, some DIY skills are however welcome. I get a lot of questions about the bearing size I used. It was 6000-2RS cartridge bearing, outside diameter 26 mm, inside diameter 10 mm, width 8 mm. But remember, there isn't any universal bearing size. Before purchasing check whether your wheel utilises th...
Let me know what would you like to see in my next video - the idea is how to start designing simple elements with FreeCAD
Tengo una con componentes campagnolo, es hermosa, modelito 80 jaja
3:20 - I had buy different two sets at Aliexpress with the name "Heat Set Insert Tips" for this standard Chinese soldering iron. One set for 2,19€ (there is one inset for the soldering iron and five little inlets for the melting tip) the other with five solder-iron inlets and each of them had an other diameter for m2, m3 m4 m5 m6 diameter. Right now I am printing a inlet for my Stem drilling machine, so that I can press the soldering iron straight down into the plastic.
Thanks for the idea. Once I find my other soldering iron, I'll surely get some tips for setting the heat inserts.
In FreeCAD. for parts like this I draw the mounting object first ( in this case the stem tube). Then convert it to a sub binder. Then add the necessary offsets. Use the sub binder to draw the part. This method words 99% of the time. You can even use the postion tool to play with it and see how it works. 😁👍
Thanks for the tip. I'll try this idea next time I'm designing some parts.
Amazing, I gotta make one. 😁👍
I've finally had a chance to use this mount during a longer trip. And the results are great! Have a look at the video on my other channel: th-cam.com/video/qJerMq2Q2TM/w-d-xo.html
Author of this video is genius!
Let me know if you prefer this tex-to-speech generated voice over or you'd rather hear my natural voice. And give thumbs up and share this video if you liked it - it's how TH-cam algorithm works. Thanks a lot!
Hi Mike! Generated voice is very good. I better understand english when it is used. Best regards👍

Keine Alu Bikes bei EROIKA😢 bis auf die vielen Kratzer am Alu Rahmen sehr schön❤
Yes, they are allowed as long as the tubes are not welded.
Hi I am interested on the headset brand what was it the one you install? Regards
It was StronLight, a French manufacturer. They are still making some bike components, unfortunately they stopped making those headsets with roller bearings.
I am building up a 979 myself. and I am having problems fitting the rear derailleur. I have tried to fit a modern Sensah deraiileur and a vintage Campagnolo derailleur. The mounting bolt does not seem to fit. Do the Vitus frames of that period use a different mounting bolt from the M10 x 1 that fits later bikes? I know I had to sand down a quill steam to fit the steerer tube for example. I am wondering if the the derailleur hanger bolt was unique for French bikes and more specifically the Vitus frames of that era. I have the same seat post binder arrangement for the seat post. That is an indication of a frame built between 1979 and 1986 I believe.
I don't suppose that the derailleur mounting thread is different than the standard one. I've simply used the bolt, that came together with the campa derailleur. And it fit without any problems.
Hello Mike Did you ever get to actually ride your Vitus bike in an Eroica event? The reason I ask is because I see a mention in the Eroica bike rules about the only aluminum bikes "allowed" are the Alan bikes. I too have some Vitus bikes and frames so I am curious whet ever happened with you and your bike.
Hi Jensen, Yes, I did. However, it was in Limburg, the Netherlands and there they are not that strict with following the rules as e.g. in California (that's what I heard). E.g. my rims are to deep by 5 mm I guess, yet nobody even noticed that. About your concerns - if you read into rule 6.1.a - Heroic bikes or vintage bikes HEROIC BIKES (or vintage bikes) are all road-racing bikes with racing handlebar, built up to and including 1987, both with and without gears, such as those built in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. These bicycles usually have a steel frame but rare aluminium frames are admitted as long as the tubes are screwed and glued (like ALAN type frames) and not welded. And Vitus tubes are glued and not welded. I'd say you could even get a carbon Vitus bike and have it approved as it is glued and period correct.
How did you clean and polish the frame?
As far as I can remember, I used a rag and some degreaser. I didn't polish it as it wasn't that damaged and I didn't want to ruin the aluminium coating.
Sir what is the bearing number and from where I can get this exhale so please let me know I am wating for your answer so please do the needful thankyou
6000-2RS, outside diameter 26 mm, inside diameter 10 mm, width 8 mm I bought those on www.lagerboer.nl (no affiliation) but check if your hub takes the same. As far as I know there aren't any "standard hub bearings".

Bearing ka number kya hai

Just bought mine yesterday and that's the first thing I checked..and wow, very disappointed , coming from a three sealed bearing pedal user haha.. good thing I got it on a cheaper price.. I'll try that
I assume that at the factory they just tighten the axles without adjusting them. I've spent like half an hour adjusting those pedals but I guess one can halve that time if proper tools are used to lock the nuts. I have an idea of using a pipe wrench on the outer nut (the smaller one) and fabricating a half-round (half-hexagon in fact) tool to hold the inner nut (the larger one, with the race) in place while tightening. I'll try it out once I give an overhaul to those pedals. Anyway, good luck, once you adjust the bearings you'll be very happy with those. At least, I am.
Bearing size and shaft size kya hai
6000-2RS, outside diameter 26 mm, inside diameter 10 mm, width 8 mm, the axle is 8mm in the bearing faces. Check your wheel, they don't necessarily have to be the same.
Hola, ¿qué país fabrica estas bicicletas?
Hola, no hablo español. Vitus was and still is a French bike manufacturer. They started with aluminium frames in the late '70s. They still produce very nice bikes. I am not affiliated with them in any way.
Es una colaboración FrancoItaliana de Artesanos en bicicletas en Duraluminio (Aluminio aeronaútico). La Italiana es Marca ALAN, la Francesa es Marca VITUS. Creo es más linda la VITUS.
Mooie bike man 👌
Dank je. Hopelijk gaat Eroica dit jaar door, wordt daar gefietst.

Very👌 nice
Cool. Campagnolo Victory with first gen Athena brakes!
I have a bike that new, has campagnolo ergo shifters, derailleurs, hubs. Modolo brakes, Mavic headset, Dura Ace crankset, Thomson seatpost, Ritchey stem and Bontrager bars.
I read all of the comments. Nobody questioned you about oil on the BB threads? That is not that bad, there is a guy in France who is greasing the tapers of his crank arm. NOO00 Not oil on the taper.... The crank arm dust cap should be greased or oiled. They can get stuck. In the States Park Tools is the big manufacturer of bicycle specific tools. What is the manufacture of professional tools in the UK?
Nice and easy! Will try this but my pavers are sloping, what would you suggest to put under ?
Are those still a flat surface but sloping? Make sure your frame is level. If the whole area remains dry you can put some "legs" along the stringers every 50-60 cm. Or you can support the stringers on sort of "moleholes" made of concrete mix and some fine gravel.
@@polishTinkerer yeah, flat but on a slightly sloping gradient for drainage. Saw another video where they used window packers. We're putting a hot tub on it so I need something that only just helps it to level. Will look into the legs, I know which ones you mean, like the concrete braces but without the bit going to the concrete. Unfortunately it's brick pavers so dynabolting it likely won't be possible as they would probably crack having that much pressure on an individual brick. I only hope to get 6 months top out of as we're in Australia and are heading into summer here.
Buen trabajo, yo pondría unas ruedas con aros Mavic Open 4 CD. Más retro.
El cuadro es impresionante, dónde conseguir uno de ésos?

Hello bhai Sahab bearing ki sije bataiye
Some years ago I did what you are now doing with an old Tommasini - difference is - it has Modolo Simplex and Stronglight stuff ! Love your chain gauge tool and soldering cable ends - well done ! Guess you used NOS - as I did for components . I ended up with Pink brake lever rubbers ! Beautiful bike great skill and care shown .
Thanks Fergus, Soldering cable ends takes me twice that long as putting the cable cap - but I do it once and I have no issues when readjusting the component or taking it off for cleaning or servicing. And it looks cleaner - I do it on every bike I service. The groupset I've installed was cleaned thoroughly, unfortunately NOS is not yet within my budget range. I'd like to see your Tommasini, perhaps we'll meet on an Eroica ride somewhere. Stay safe and healthy!
Hi nice clean work which bearing no and shaft you got from. kindly share link
साइकिल के पहिया में कितने नंबर बैरिंग डालती है बताएं
Mike, the upper cone of the c record headset directly placed in the headtube (top side) was loose. The cone has open circles like super record. Does it need to be glued? or is this impossible because of the round openings?
Nothing was loose in my case, the first one (Shimano) had to be gently hammered out and the new one (Stronglight) had to be pressed in. They should not be loose as far as I know and you are not supposed to glue them in for the sake of later replacement. By the "open circles" you mean it is drilled through the part that slides into the head tube? It's for weight saving.
@@polishTinkerer yes Mike indeed. They are drilled out. There is a glue where you have the option permanent and a one so that you are able to remove it later. Ill get some assistent from the bike shop. in this case. thanks.
If you make grease nipple on the hub it will be very useful to lubricate both bearing with grease gun.
It will work only for cup and cone system. And you should get rid of the old grease before putting new one (old grease is not that thick and can contain debris). For the sealed bearings greasing them without taking the seals off is only a waste of grease.
