    Not sure if Passat would be the same as 2012 Jetta but its much easier to put the front end into Service Position or Mode. Crazy but it does work. Front clip unbolts from subframe, install two size 10 bolts 100mm long and front clip which includes headlights, radiator, bumper slides forward giving plenty of room to work in that area. first time takes a while but now I can do it in 1 hr maybe less. theres a good video on it. Look under alternator replace Jetta or service Mode

    Looks great, would love to DIY this - I paid someone to do it and the cost was insane. When they put mine in, they used a "slinky" - coil horizontally in a 2-3 ft trench to get more surface area contact with less digging. I think they also use HDPE, not pex, maybe thinner wall for better heat transfer?

  • @haskelswain1842
    @haskelswain1842 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Grest video. Just what I wanted. Hope this works. If the ground loop is 65 hopefully that can keep house at 70. That would be great. May have to run fan all day but cheaper than entire heat pump system. Also if you use your thermostat on the right and wire it differently you should be able to use it on cool mode. Wire only the 2 fan on wires to the cool side. Thats my plan anyway...and run circulation pump with thermostat also.

    • @createnbuild1809
      @createnbuild1809 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you know how I need to change the thermostat to run on cool mode? I only brought across power and fan wire from the first to the second. Don't know why the second only controls the fan on heat mode.

    Have been preparing to do this same project this year. Please keep updated on how it does on hot days.

    • @createnbuild1809
      @createnbuild1809 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Long term it is not working as well as the initial tests, a long hot spell has warmed the ground even as deep as I dug and now the water is at 65, which after all the losses is only giving relief of the very hot days. Need at least a 20-degree difference between inside air and water temp for it to work effectively. I had this earlier in the year and on the day I tested it since I had turned my main ac off and the house was at 85 and water at 59. If I was to do this again I would: 1) make sure both loops were greater then 8 ft down 2) put the heat exchanger in the return air not pressure side of air handler
