Well, this it it! Our final chance to get the van in some sort of order before we take it on its first trip up to Scotland with all the BPM crew! In the last episode we only managed to finish the front, but with no bed arrangements in place we had to give it one final push to get it finished enough that we could take it on its first trip! Tjay also tried to tidy up the outside of the van to mak...

MINI COOPER S R53 BUDGET TRACK CAR BUILD! IN 2 MINUTES!!
8 months late but have just finished the series, and its made me want to do some track focused mods to my r53, as it stands it has 17% reduced pulley, airtec top mount intercooler induction kit and scorpion non res cat-back, not had the car long and i love it. would love to see more content like this in the future!
Nice! They are the best cars for the money! Yeah we definitely need to get back into the Mini! Which we will be after Christmas! We got side tracked by a camper build and various other things but digging the Mini out is number 1 priority now!
Still hanging out my fat arse from this trip. Class though! Roll on the track day! 👀👀
😂 Top Cameraman! - We are going to have to get one booked aren’t we! 👊🏻
Go on the boys!!!!
Banging video, fairplay. What plans for the Mini next year?
Thanks Rich! Plans for the mini at the moment are, give it a good service, skim the brakes with new pads and then we will be jumping on another track day, but that’s for the next video 👀
Does anyone know where he go the gauge pod or where you can buy them from Cheers.
We aren’t too sure ourselves, best bet would be the performance Mini specialists, Lohan, Orrange, Mod a Mini etc. or try on the Facebook R53 owners group as we’ve seen people who make similar things and sell them on there, hope this helps!
anyone know where to find the "supercharged" badge? i can not find it anywhere
We aren’t 100% ourselves, possibly Mod a Mini sell them or we have seen people who make similar things and sell them on the Facebook owners group. Hope this helps!
What is the tightening torque for the ball joint on the wishbone ? Thanks.
We’re not actually 100% sure as we couldn’t find anything whilst doing the job, so we just went tight 😂 it’s very unlikely to come loose once all bolted up as it come upwards. If you find out, let us know for next time! Cheers
@@BPMDevelopments Thank you. I couldn't find it in the Twingo RS Service manual. I asked the question on an Alpine forum, as the same ball joint is used on the A110 II for the lower front suspension wishbone, and nobody has found the torque yet. Bye
*Bump :)*
We will be putting a Mini vid on soon we promise 😂 Apologies it’s been a while!
To remove does it spin clockwise or anti clockwise
If you are looking at it from the bottom it is clockwise to remove it, as if you are tightening it!
It looks like you are not using MAP gas and it will help as it burns hotter. Also the M18 impact would have got that off easier. The M12 is good but not really powerful enough for something stuck like that. I have Milwaukee tools and know what they are good at.
Yeah absolutely, probably why it took a us a few attempts! But at least it come off in the end with the M12, shows how good it is for a small gun really!
Could mapp gas melt the control arm if you leave it on too long. I used mapp , but no cold shock.. M18 impact , and the 4prong sockets pretty much demolished the ball joint holes... One last try I guess 😅😅 just don't wanna overheat it.. only gave it about 2 or 3 mins heat , about 2 or 3 separate times. Not 10 mins 😂
Yeah ... Yeah
😂😂 So many yeah’s.. And that’s with some cut out 🙃🤣
Looking great guy's
Cheers Anthony! Getting there slowly!
Nice, was expecting Gareth to pop out the back!! 😂
Looking forward to the next episode boys! 👌🏻
How would you rate these compared to powerflex? Is the quality difference in line with the price difference?
In our opinion, performance wise, they are just as good as power flex and have held up absolutely perfectly on our track car, the quality aspect is more the aesthetics, for instance it has rough edges which when we asked the bloke that owns the company he said it is because they don’t get them finished and sanded in order to keep the cost down but it doesn’t affect the performance of the product. The only thing limiting godflex was the range of products but we’re not sure if that’s till the case or not. When it comes to saving £200 like it did on the Mini they’re definitely worth it. Hope that helps bud!
would you recommend it as a daily drive? i’m about to get one with 80k km engine and a complete engine tuning
Yeah, we’ve all daily driven them in the past! It depends what you need. I struggled with space, but I did have a new born at the time 😅 Fuel economy is not too bad when you aren’t thrashing it everywhere, and I found that they are fairly reliable if servicing etc is kept on top of. Most of all you’ll enjoy every moment & every drive you take!
21:10 proper rant 😂😂
😂😂 If there was an award for the shortest temper, Joel would definitely be a top nominee 😂
Bit of “shat-in black" 😂 tickled me that. Snuck that one in there 👌🏻
😂😂😂
No matter what you guys do it’s just a great watch……hopefully catch you in it at Oulton Park…..actually convinced me to look into getting a Cooper S for me and my daughter to track 🤞
Glad you enjoy it! We are currently just juggling a few things at the same time so aren’t uploading as much as we’d like, but we’ll be back to it properly as soon as we can! .. Go for it mate, you won’t regret it! Ours will be back out and on the channel soon! 👊🏻
@@BPMDevelopments I do have one question about the Mini…..I’ve never actually sat in a Cooper S, so I’m just wondering what it’s like for space inside with a bucket seat and cage. Not sure how big you guys are but I’m 6’4 and just need to know if I’d manage to fit in it…..bit of a random question for you guys I know
It’s not too bad, the tallest of us is 5ft10 so a little shorter and obviously we haven’t got a cage, but we have plenty of room to take the seat back, and with it being a bucket seat and less bulky than the standard seat, it goes back further! So I think you should be okay!
Miss my old railway transit, much better than the Citroen Dispatch they replaced them with
Yeah, great vans.. just getting a bit older now, but with a bit of work it’ll be a gooden!
Great VT , looking chic , BPM coffee at race tracks coming soon 🥲
Haha, cheers. And we would be lying if we said it hadn’t crossed our minds 😂
mine has just gone, it's a good thing you've done this cause the old forums say "take it to a truck garage to press it in" god knows how many people have butchered their arms taking that advice
Yeah we couldn’t find but info on TH-cam about them so we thought we’d make a quick video, at least the basics are covered!
You can tell your a weekend warrior with how much you was using
You can tell your the type of bloke that measures his lube out before slotting it up his cockatiel.
@@BPMDevelopments 100% I use the right amount too much and the whole dildo goes in
Top man 😂
very cool. subscribed
Cheers mate appreciate it!
Where can I buy the adapter for remove the ballpoint
You can find it on eBay, if you search Renault Ball Joint Removal tool, it’s the one with the 4 prongs as seen in the video. They are all the same. Hope that helps! 😊
Maybe get some round wheels......or just balance the tires....lol.
Haha, they were freshly fitted/ balanced before the track day, but it certainly felt like they weren’t round then on the brake’s 😅
Where would i get the vents that say supercharged on them?
I’m sure I saw someone selling them on the Facebook group R53 Owners Club, failing that maybe Mod a Mini or Orrange!
Tiago Ferreira '@CitroMini' (iirc)
Got a 2009 jcw mini s,had it for about 3 years still puts a huge smile on my face every time I'm in it.best car ever.
Nice!! Definitely one of the best cars a Mini for the driving experience! We love ours, just need to get out in it more!
I love the sc whine but it's very limited on hp output vs turbo. Sweet car!
Yeah your right, but just can’t beat that noise! 😍
Hi guys, love the channel and mini content, I have just purchased at R53 as my “toy” car for weekends and occasional track days! Can’t wait to give a track day a go!! Any advice of what upgrades are best for me? It will be just a weekend car for mini meets and then track on occasions when I can! Thank you!! Look forward to seeing more 😁
Hi Tom, cheers mate glad you’re enjoying! They’re a great little motor! Budget dependant obviously, we would suggest decent tyres, brakes even the R56 ones are an improvement, anti roll bars are supposed to be the best upgrade you can do to transform the handling but we haven’t done it, don’t cheap out on the coil overs as the budget Raceland’s we bought have reached their limits already really 😂. Hope you have fun with it! There should of been a Mini only track day at Cadwell park on 1st June that we were going to be filming but it’s been cancelled now 😭
@@BPMDevelopments will be on a budget as I have treated myself to a second car so just something for weekends and fun! But will definitely keep watching your videos and learning! That’s a shame! Will keep my eye out for another one like that 👌
How did you tighten the ball joint on the car with the driveshaft in the way?
Just with the ratchet spanner buddy
Very great job man! For your next driving videos, it could be possible to fix a camera on the pedalbox to film your footwork please? :)
Thanks for the feedback! Yes we will definitely get a foot cam and some more camera angles for our next track day video! Cheers 😊
@@BPMDevelopments Great, thank you very much man! :D As suggestion, for your driving videos, instead of having a "picture-in-picture" view with several angles at same time, you can make an edit with cuts simultaneously between the angles to have one angle on full screen in every moment.
Thanks, we will try and implement this way more in the future! Cheers for the suggestions!
What phone holder do you use?
Just a cheap one that you get off a tripod that we nut and bolted to the metal plate we made to cover the radio hole mate
First time watching. Do you have an Lsd installed. I have a Quaife diff def transform that beast
No mate still rocking the standard diff, looking at the “LSD” one off a chilli pack in the future or maybe something a bit spicier 🌶️
Great video. Have an r53 too ❤
Cheers mate! Good choice of car! 😉
great quick guide for beginners, good work lads... watching from Australia :)
Cheers mate! Glad you enjoyed! You have won our furthest away watcher award! 😉😂
Good little guide, great works as always.
Thanks Martin! We appreciate the feedback and glad you liked it!
Hi from Hawaii!
Hi John! 🤝
How do you find the stock intercooler? I track mine all the time and I run airtek but I hate the fitment so I have just gone back to stock intercooler def has more boost!
We’ve had absolutely no problems at all with intake temps and we’ve been hammering it constantly all day on track! The only thing is we’re not sure how it will fair when we do a cam and other engine mods, we may well change then! But we’ll see!
@@BPMDevelopments I have cam, injectors etc dynode 248 bhp I have gone back to stock intercooler I hate the fitment on the airtek I’m sure I will get some heat soak! Main thing i noticed it your oil temp will be insane without a oil cooler!
@@Jonathan-qz9kd We are far off them power figures currently! 😂 We’ve read online that the stock intercooler isn’t actually any worse than most aftermarket but never actually tried anything, apparently the JCW/GP1 one is the best option but getting up towards £1k for second hand 😂 Yeah the oil light came on for some reason, may well be the oil was too hot and starting to get funky, will be something we are looking into soon!
@@BPMDevelopments that or you cooked the sensor they do fail on the oil filter housing. I run a front mount oil cooler you can make your own up with kits off eBay if your handy!
Nice to watch your videos in the process myself of turning a standard R53 into a weekend track toy see you at cadwell my local track 👍🏻..oh keep up the good work !
Thanks Lee! Are you heading down on the Mini weekend there? Hopefully see you there! Cheers mate!
I'm building a r56 track car cadwell is my local track aswell
Sorry if I missed it but are you using standard rear trialing arms to get them alignment settings?
No mate we’ve got the R56 trail arms on and ebay special adjustable arms
That is 100% a warped disc so glad to hear you're getting them skimmed before the next outing. To stop it happening again I'd recommend cooling, just ripping out the front arch liners would help, but the JDH customs kit is what you really want. Also I think you're still 'road braking' and what I mean by that is you're holding the brakes on a constant pressure for quite a while. Fine on the road, but on track this can overheat the discs and warp them. What you want to get used to on track is absolutely stand on the brakes at first then try to get off the brakes as quickly and progressively as you can. So long as your ABS is working of course, I thought it was very brave doing a few laps without it. Overall though great video and good to show what handling mods can do for lap time. If any of your are free on the 26th April, come to Castle Combe and look for a red R53 race car ;)
Yeah we had to, was quite unnerving! We’ve cut a hole through the arch liner and removed the fog lights for abit of make do cooling but definitely want to do a spot of ducting in the future. To be fair we’re not sure if it’s road braking or maybe karting braking, we’ve all raced karts for 20 years so maybe the stamp on turn in approach isn’t helping, obviously a lot more weight to contend with than karts! We are looking to get an OBD reader for some more detailed telemetry! We were willing to give anything a try at that point! Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it! We wanted to see the difference in handling mods before we go adding more power, it will be interesting to see what combined power and handling will achieve! To be fair Castle Combe is only about 100 miles away so not to much of a journey!
Greetings lads..ever known someone put a roof on a soft top ? Im thinking about it ,lower it a bit ..
Hi bud, we have seen something online and it looks really cool! We have a convertible sat in the unit at the minute don’t go giving us ideas 😂😂
