As soon as I read the title, I instantly could remember this scene down to the dialogue where they break the sword. I never forgot that scene and never remembered another thing from the movie, always wondering where that scene came from. Thank you! I see from other comments that I'm not the only one it stuck with.

No CGI. No AI. No electronically-created music. Real actors. Real extras. Real sets. A real orchestra making the music. And seen in a beautiful theatre with an audience paying rapt attention with no light pollution or noise from cell phones. Technology has not improved the entertainment experience, it has diminished it.

A esas columnas le faltan dibujos , el piso no era nada liso en esa época, la vestimenta tampoco concuerdan con esa épocas , las paredes estaban cubiertas de dibujod. En esa época no existían las espadas , se empleaban lanzas, arcos y una especie de machete o típo macanas , la Po elicula no guarda concordancia con esa época, ni conocían el empleo del caballo y el camello( en etapa media recién se empezaron a emplear los caballos por influencia de los Hicsos ( los Hicsos empleaban caballos y carros de combate y espadas)

The Egyptian is probably my favourite historical novel, read it when I was a teenager. I knew there is a film adaptation but I never watched it fearing it will ruin the world and images I built with my imagination . I prefer to keep that one

After getting iron weapons, I can imagine some Egyptian soldier saying: "We need to go back to bronze. This new stuff rusts!"

Lots of problems with the vision for this production. Lamentations for the dead were a big part of Egyptian culture. A corpse was considered to be disrespected in death if no one mourned for it. Also, the big headpieces and black clothing in this scene would have been unheard of. Black clothing simply wasn't a thing in Egypt because of the climate(even in funerary scenes, mourners still wore white) and the headresses depicted in heiroglyphs were actually symbolic. No Egyptian crown has ever been discovered. Still, I give it credit for it respecting Egyptian culture and not being propaganda for Abrahamic or Roman ideals.

I saw this movie first time in the 80s in Germany, when I was at the university. They must have played it for two years or so in a small cinema next to where I lived and I have seen it often. It is my favorite movie. I am thrilled that I can pull it up and watch now with my husband. All these years I was not able to find it, but I remembered the name of the aria and I have listened to it often. Seeing Wilhelmina performing in her stunning white dress still gives me a chill. Thanks for uploading!

Again Hollywood, iron is not that much better than Bronze. But it is cheaper and easier to make. Bronze is an alloy of copper (east to find) and tin ( harder to find and imported). iron is one metal that is found in large amounts, also depending on method of forging can be impregnated with carbon to make a crude steel which is that much harder than bronze shown in the movie. But mostly wrong for time period shown!

True the Hittites did have iron swords, but not steel. While iron is more difficult to refine, it is much cheaper and more plentiful than is the case of tin and copper. Bronze likely makes a better sword. But there was some steel in the area. I think one or two might have been made from meteorites. The Hittites developed new techniques for using iron around 1500 BC. Up until this time, weapons were generally made from bronze. Bronze is harder and heavier than iron. The use of iron weapons, which remained unique to the Hittites, helped create successful military campaigns.
