my old Yamaha YZF 125R 2016 top speed was 86 MPH and most days did over 80 easy miss it TBH miss the extra speed to help get out of trouble

@@newmwanderer they use the same engine just better areo dynamics. Iv been looking into a plug n play remapping device. It adjusts the timing, fueling and ups the rev limiter iv seen them talking about it on the forums apparently it'll do over 100 lol

My instructor taught to take up as much space as a car. In this situation for example, it is best to be as far left in the lane as a car would go. This is mainly for visibility, as well as avoiding potential debris.

@@sitokiaba5404 then you either have misunderstood or had a bad instructor... I'll explain... (I'll keep it simple so I apologise if it seems patronising) First, lets think of each individual lane as 5 mini lanes and call them positions 1 (far left) to 5 (far right). By taking position 1 you leave the outside space of you open for vehicles to try to over take you or to 'squeeze' you. It also reduces your reaction time and space for hazards such as a car pulling out or a pedestrian stepping off the curb.Taking up as much space as a car means riding as standard on a straight road with no hazards in position 4. That way you command the lane, you have more visibility and reaction time and space. When on bends, this position is fluid. For a right hand bend you take position 1 to distance yourself from traffic that may run wide and even on to your side of the road. It also gives you the maximum line of sight to look up the road for the next bend, hazards in the road such as drains, pot holes, debris or traffic up ahead. For a left hand bend it is the opposite, you take up position 5 for the same reasons. However and this is important... NEVER compromise SAFETY for position. This means that if there is oncoming traffic, do not stay in position 5 and take a more central position... 4 is OK, 3 is best but if there is grit, debris or other hazards in 3/4 then move further over to position 2. Similar if you are on a right hand bend, move further away from position 1 if there are drains, debris, etc... If on a straight section of road and there are junctions on either side of the road, drift to the opposite position... turning on the left, drift to position 4, junction on the right, drift to position 2. This really is the core backbone of advanced motorcycle riding as taught by the police, ROSPA or IAMs.

In the UK it is best practice to pass people on the right, as it is considered the fast lane. Generally people aren't expecting it, so its more dangerous. Its not illegal though, and if someone refuses to give up their position in the right lane (as the rider recording did), then cautiously passing on the left is fine.

What about the entire video (see road signs) was the approach to a roundabout and entering in the right lane was the right place to be for exit?

I don't think I make any assumptions (unlike others) and I dont think I make any judgements (unlike others) but very happy for you to point me to the specifics you have read in my posts? Certainly either would be entirely unintentional on my part. I've just watched the video. I dont know how long this motorcycle has been in lane 2. I can only form an opinion on the facts which is the posted video which shows the motorcycle in lane 2 and a roundabout sign on the left immediately the video starts. I dont think you'll find I am making any assumptions (unlike others). Delighted to be pointed to any assumptions you feel I have made? Neither am I judging anybody am I? Where's the judgement I'm making other than observing what the Highway Code says and noting what happens in the video? I am merely assessing the video and making observations based on that with a couple of IMHOs which aren't judgements, they are just opinions? Sorry, am I missing something? Have a super weekend. See reply to bensteelemusic. The entire video is shot on an approach to a roundabout as the road signs show from the beginning. IMHO entirely legitimate to be in the correct lane on roundabout approach preparing for exit. You can choose to be anything in life, so why not choose to be kind? As for the other motorcyclist, I think the Highway Code says no issue for that bike to be in nearside lane and pass on the inside on the approach to the roundabout. The issue then for debate is the move to lane 2 and the position and entry to the roundabout. Personally, I don't consider that driving without due care and attention, nor do I consider it dangerous driving. Others views may differ of course.
