Garret Carrot vs DR Otek Pinpointer. Shocking Result!
มุมมอง 7892 หลายเดือนก่อน
In todays Metal Detecting video two Pinpointer metal detectors go head to head on a variety of Silver, Gold and coin targets to see which performs better and the results are shocking! The $50 DR Otek MT6 Pro really holds it own when going up against the Garret AT Pro Pointer which cost almost 5X as much and is renowned for being one of the best pinpointers ever made! I hope you enjoy and thanks...

มุมมอง 3724 หลายเดือนก่อน
In todays detecting video I head out to an old country reserve for a night hunt with a friend and boy did I hit it big, I went in with little expectation but in the end with the Equinox800 found my best ever Sterling Silver coin haul and my record 1800s haul with over a dozen coins from the 1800s! I hope you enjoy this detecting video and thanks for watching!
Can we find Silver Detecting in a hunted out park?
มุมมอง 825 หลายเดือนก่อน
In todays Metal Detecting video I head down with the Equinox800 to my local 1800s park that is said to be hunted out, I have 3 hours until sundown to see if I can strike silver in this park that is said to be devoid of targets! I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
Metal Detecting in a 1950s park with 1850s trees in NZ!
มุมมอง 8075 หลายเดือนก่อน
In todays detecting video with the Equinox800 I head down to a local park, this park had activity on the site and trees planted as early as 1850, however it was not regularly used until the 1950s. In the end we end up with a few finds with some possible age to it. I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Awesome test !!!
Gotta love British silver!
Definitely! Over the moon
The Garrett Pro Pinpointed is only $115 US retail all day long. The Minelab Pro-Find 40 actually has more sensitivity. Cheers, #SeattleRingHunter
Comparing it to a $250 pointer, yes it holds up to a $200 pinpointer, yes it stands ground with a $175 pinpointer
Spot on, cheers, thanks for watching.
@@DTDetecting lol I was just joking 😁
@@digginggopher Being less specific on prices this is more sensitive (not saying it’s better) than most mid priced $100-200 pinpointsrs I have tested personally. I would say it’s about neck and neck in overall performance to a Profind 15 or a Nokta Pointer.
@@DTDetecting did you do a speed test, one thing I noticed from a $200 pointer and a cheap $20 temu pointer, is you have to be WAY slower with the $20 pointer, I can swipe my MI4 across the ground at lightning speed and get a beep at a precise location, but with the cheap pointer, you have to swipe it slower because it takes a second to register the beep I've never used Dr otek stuff, but I know some of their detectors are lousy from videos I watched, you don't get a repeatable signal over some targets that better detectors would, but that otek pointer looks decent, but I prefer the XP pointer in pitch tones, I think it's way easier on the ears, although XP pointers seem to develope issues, I'm on my second one, and I seen some other TH-camrs have issues with em too
Great hunt mate! A trio of silvers. I'd be very happy with that. Cheers
Are you in north or South Island? And where would you recommend on where to get my first metal detector? And what kind would you recommend too? Great pod cast too 👍🏻☺️
South Island, however I have hunted a couple odd spots up north as well. Anywhere really, honestly your best bet for value is 100% second hand, you can get a detector for 2/3rds the price that works and functions the exact same as new. An Equinox 600/700/800/900 are great and what I use, but a Nokta Makro legend or Vanquish 340/440/540 can also be good cheaper starting options. Cheers thanks heaps
@@DTDetecting thank you ☺️
What years did you get????
@@papitohernandez4150 1877 and 1885 I believe.
Those will look great after a bit of a clean, shame there isn't more of the wallet left.
Wow! Magnetic silver! That’s a new element. Bravo. 👏
It’s not magnetic? This coin is half silver half manganese.
@@DTDetectingManganese is not magnetic
@@orangemanbad9989 I just said that, it’s not magnetic.
@@DTDetecting Good. Do you know what sarcasm is?
You asked, “It’s not magnetic?”
Fake
No it’s not fake, it’s a $5 coin and this was the 2nd I’ve ever found. How else would I get a hold of it? If I was faking it don’t you think I would’ve put a bigger more exciting coin, or some gold, or why would I have so many realistic videos were im only finding a little threepence. Because I only upload actual finds as I find them. Of course I don’t have footage of me scanning the target above ground because chances are as with anything you find detecting it’s rubbish before I dig it.
Wow old silver that’s not tarnished! 😂
Wow old silver that was in a clay based soil that doesn’t tarnish as much due to lack of moisture (and yes it was tarnished just primarily around the edges and touched of the brown manganese tarnishing around the centre. If you have ever metal detected you know often depending on soil you can find coins that have hardly tarnished at all. I know Ive found silver coins up to 150 years old that have little - no tarnishing at all and come out of the ground almost like the day they were dropped.
What an angry carrot you've got!
thought he was holding a carrot 🥕 at first
They call this pinpointer the garret carrot ironically ahaha.
@@DTDetecting haha helps you see i. the dark
Yeah ok
Good stuff my man!
I subscribed 🎉🎉🎉
And it's untarnished!
@@donaldjacobw There’s a tiny bit of brown coppery stuff coming through round the lion thing, but outside of that it’s in stunning condition indeed!
how does it handle the ground, a big difference between targets in the air and in the ground. Good results for a cheap unit though.
Cheers brother. I think I mentioned it in the video is it handles it surprisingly well however it is a bit harsher on the auto cancelling, particularly when there’s heavy interference I would say the on paper difference between the Garret and this one as you can see is 5-10%, but in the field it’s closer to 10-25%, if the interference is really bad maybe even up to 33%. It doesn’t handle it as well as a top end machine, but still shockingly well given the cost. Cheers
Growing up my parents used to put them in the Christmas pudding and buy them back to use them again the next year. Nice find.
Nice find.
Nice score. Cheers
Who the fck is Idwid the sivinth. And what is an ipick find
Edward the seventh Epic find He's a kiwi, it's not that hard to work out.
very nice!! guess someone is going to re-visit 🙂Great Finds!!!
Great video and wow what a haul of silvers. I wish we had spots around here as good as your one. Cheers
Great video. Do you mind me asking what area of NZ you detect? Cheers
Thanks heaps, glad you liked it. I mostly detect around Christchurch but also the odd other area like Nelson or Greymouth when I’m there.
@@DTDetecting Some great areas to search around from what I've heard. Cheers
are the 5,10 & 50cents still legal tender?
No they are not, however the reserve bank still takes them. Cheers
@@DTDetecting ok, got it. I got quite a few ones like that... See ya, b safe!!

2:30 very cool coin, I have not seen one of those before.
Watching from Alberta Canada nice hunt. Looks like you are the first person to detect that field
Cheers thank you! Yeah I reckon, the first recently anyway, I feel like most of it has been regrassed as there was just one patch of old stuff and the rest was all shallow and new. Thanks for watching

Weird he knew it was a coin before he dug it up
I saw the edge of the coin while digging the plug, jusd was yet to flip it out and wasn’t sure exactly what it was, just knew it was silver
Wasn't a bad day out tbh, will have alot more of these vids coming in near future 😇
