Can I use Pre mixed Joint Compound with Mesh Tape?
มุมมอง 54หลายเดือนก่อน
Always use Mesh tape with Hot Muds or Setting type compounds (QuickSet) 20-45-60-90 Ect. Do not use PRE-Mixed Muds as they are not strong enough to hold the mesh tape and will eventually crack from lack of strength. Looks great except the eaves, I imagine you would have had a better result if you would have used primer first because the wood is bleeding through the paint. Might have to do another coat yet.

      @@thehomefixer176 Oh sorry don't know how I missed that. You can however paint the aluminum if pressure washing doesn't clean it up enough. Five years ago we had a guy spray ours and it still looks great! Just a thought for you to consider.

    I know many people have patched them with epoxy fiberglass-type patches, but it's better just to take it out and redo it anyways - homes that still have the cast iron that stuff has been in service for the last 50-100 years - and it's been rusting from the inside out all that time, so most cast iron DWV is probably at the end of it's life or past it. I found it strange that your horizontal runs are sitting on the basement floor, do they have the correct fall/pitch?

    • @thehomefixer176
      @thehomefixer176 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes it pitches down into the dirt and under the concrete slab towards the main clay sewer pipe. Yea Clay sewer pipe which is probably older than the cast iron.
