They have no money to improve anything. St Louis has a mass unemployment crisis, there's no jobs here. I spent the past 2 years looking for work. The only job I found was temporary at 10 to 15 hours a week, and my employer since went broke and I lost that job.

I highly disagree with your synopsis of diversification in stl. I'm in south county not far from you (Affton/Lemay area) and it's a fairly even mix of ethnicities in my area. I do hate stl though because the people are loud, rude, have overinflated egos, and are seriously belligerent. They're all in your business and mistreat others property as if it was their own. I've had people I do not know come onto my property and sit on my motorcycle when I'm sitting there watching them through an open sliding glass door. In your and my area cars are constantly being broken into. I've hit road debris and damaged my vehicle driving on main interstates in the area. The traffic is so dense you have no time to react. On the other end there are people from West county, Webster, Brentwood, and South county, Oakville, and mehlville. That work desk jobs and treat others like feces under their shoe. You speak of hockey but only people with money and high paying jobs can afford the ice time. So all in St. Louis sucks hard. You speak of diversification of ethnicity but the real issue stems from wealth inequality in the Stl area. Places like Oakville, Mehlville, Chesterfield, Wildwood, Eureka, Webster Groves, Brentwood, Clayton, etc.. They only cater to those families bringing home more than 180k annually. You wonder why people ask what high-school you went to, but more than likely judge others on different criteria that is money related. I'm not from stl but I have lived here now just shy of two decades. I lived in north county during the Ferguson riots over Brown's death. I've also lived in west county in an over priced POS of an apartment with a slumlord, lived in Alton for a few years, Soulard, and now south county. So I experienced a lot of the real stl. While some of your issues with the area seem legit others come off a hair pretentious for somebody living in the Oakville/Mehlville area that spends large sums of money for ice time and ice hockey equipment. I lived in the northeast and played on lakes and in school because it was free aside from skates and sticks. Once I moved to Missouri, I stopped after a year or two because it's not financially responsible. For myself icetime and the equipment were thousands of dollars annually. I'm not saying you're rich or wealthy. I am saying that you are speaking from a place of comfort and privilege that the majority of people in stl cannot understand or relate to.

The main reason the city of St.Louis sucks is that the city of St.Louis is indeed a hoodrat infested area, also as for mountains Missouri does have mountains and they're called the Ozark Mountains (if you go down to Branson) or the St.Francious Mountains in the Ozarks (if you go down to Johnson Shut N's or Taum Saulk Mountain (the highest point in Missouri coming in at 1,772 feet above sea level)).

Things to see downtown: The Arch. The Scott Joplin house. The Field house. The architecture. The Old Courthouse (now being remodeled). Busch Stadium. Enterprise Center (hockey). The Blues Museum. The Soldiers Memorial Museum (newly renovated). The Campbell House. The City Museum. Union Station and the new Aquarium. Ferris Wheel. These are things just off the top of my head. Most of these are family friendly. Of course the restaurant scene has deteriorated due to Covid, but it will return I hope. Also there are so many things to see in Forest Park and the Central West End, which aren't too far from Downtown.

Come on now, you don't understand why St. Louis is segregated? Do you think it just happened by accident? No it didn't. There were only certain areas of St. Louis where black people could live. When fair housing laws were enacted and African-Americans could move into more neighborhoods, whites purposely moved out. The realtors scared them into thinking the property values of their homes would decline (because of black people). They declined because every other white person was selling their home at the same time, not because of the color of the residents moving in. The whites who lived in North city, moved to North County. Then when black people moved to North County, now the whites are moving to St. Charles county. South County has to be one of the worse culprits of racial segregation. Don't think areas such as Oakville aren't majority white for a reason. The residents want to keep it that way, but they will not say that outright. St Louis is segregated because it wants to be, not by accident. Oh, and you mention Phoenix, Arizona. I used to live in Phoenix. Leaving there was one of the biggest mistakes of my life. At least out there, as long as you have the money, you can live where you want without there being any pushback from the neighborhood about the color of your skin. That is one of the reasons why Phoenix is growing and St. Louis isn't.

Our winters can be gloomy for a few days in a row, which can be rough, but we still get a decent amount of sunny days through winter. I hope that helps!
