I have the same mount from summit, I had no idea it was a repurposed bike holder lol. Nice way to save some $ going your route. Only thing I would do is replace the hardware with stainless steel, some of the bolts and screws are rusting on mine after a month.

Not bad for first time. Keep your rod tip down, right at the water height, line tight, and when the fish takes it, be patient, count 1 second and set to set the hook, strip it, don't bass set. You are pulling the popper right out of the fishes mouth, lol. A good start. Fly fishing is addictive as cocaine, just 2X as expensive!

Thinking of doing this for the back of a jon boat. The depth of the boat is around 2 ft. I troll for Crappie. I'm thinking about the handle of the trolling motor sticking out. I'm debating 2.5' ft 3 ft height. 3 ft might be too high though.

I use the ram mount to stop my trolling motor from bouncing probably do the same for the mount

Use the ram mount to hold the back end of the pole when you stow it.

I did mine this same way, my bike mount was a little different but the principle was the same. I looked at the store bought mounts and while I don't mind spending money on my habit, I mean my hobby, they want way too much for those things. I might experiment with some rolled aluminum one day, but until then, PVC is good enough.

Great idea using the bike mount. I curious while using your live scope while trolling does the bike mount hold the pole vertical with out bending due the force of the water? I built a setup very similar to what you had with the ram mount and the pole and transducer keep bending unless I keep my boat stationary.

I'm just in the "shopping list" stage of Livescope but I think this is the route I'll go for a pole mount! In my mind I want a mount in both the front and back, so on a windy day I can spotlock down and fish towards the wind blown bank. Do you think it's needed or do you think just pointing the ducer to the rear would be sufficient? Great vid and new sub here!😎🤘

Great video! I'm strongly considering going with the RockBros mount on a homemade pole. One thing I can't find are the actual dimensions of the base where you bolt it down. I'd be looking to put it on a mount for a track system, but it looks awfully big. Amazon doesn't give the dimensions of the mount and I tried emailing to company with no response. You have any guesstimates on the length and width of it?
