Day 4 Sick Week 2024: Drag and Drive at South Georgia Motorsports Park!
I got an f150 that felt like it would down shift after it had already stopped at a stop light, turned out to be dry splines
Rear axle issue
Oil leaks in small amounts are a good thing. A leading engine saved the floors of my 64 Nova, pristine gooky original steel.
worked! Thanks
Third gear? Lol that's the 2nd gear or intermediate clutch that's burnt not 3rd or direct.
Yeah, terminology is tough for me sometimes. But two years later, multiple trans brake launches at the drag strip and driving thousands of miles. The transmission is still doing great. I guess calling it the wrong thing. Didn’t affect the rebuild.
@RocketGarageService yep you're right but calling a intermediate clutch a direct clutch is usually not a good sign when you're the builder. Everyone has to start somewhere i wasn't trying to come off as a dick.
@ that is understandable. And I to cringe when I hear people stat parts incorrectly. So I get what you mean. Also I am not a transmission builder. Just a guy who wanted to prove I could. Now I have done a few for myself and friends with great success. But some folks take things over the top with terminology, which I have a pet-peeve against. For example, rims or wheels; engine or motor. Like does it really matter.
Thas wy I can’t find it
Glad this video helped. Thank-you for the comment!!!
The subtitles say music😂 they’re right
That's awesome. I have had a few comments like this. I kinda want to just record some awesome engines and there exhaust music. With no talking just the engine and exhaust. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Well that worked! Thanks heaps!
That is awesome. Thank-you for the comment!!!
That was my dream. The small square body with inline 6. I didnt thinh I could fit the extra 4.5" of engine in my 82 without a torch and welder. Great job!!!
Yeah, you can make it work. I am glad you like the video! Thank-you for the comment!!!
Where do we find a 292 GMC L6?
Man, it is tough. I see them on facebook. But folks charge a pretty penny for them. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Looks like your rear end Springs are broke or come and loose
So, I'm learning a lot about this movement. This is pretty common, and it is called Axle wrap. Especially on trucks for after market wheels and tires. Alot of folks are recommending traction bars. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Nice I have one in my 1948 Chevy fleetline got it from a 75 nova
So this engine came of something similar. Of course it was swapped. But they thought it had a wiped a camshaft. And they yanked it for a SBC. But it ended up being a bad distributor. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Nice.
Thank-you for the comment!!!
Ya know I was telling the same thing to my old lady about that open valve and her lubrication system.
It is interesting, being why I wanted to share. Thank-you for the comment!!!
That’s a beautiful thing. Sounds amazing. It’s not always about making a thousand horsepower.
Yeah, it’s just pure fun! So simple and works. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Very nice...engine stand...@RocketGarageService
I think thats what im hearing on mine also but never could figure it out. Now, is that movement back and forth normal?
Glad the video helped. So, I'm learning a lot about this movement. This is pretty common, and it is called Axle wrap. Especially on trucks for after market wheels and tires. Alot of folks are recommending traction bars. Thank-you for the comment!!!
Is there a reason to do this? Or is it just to get zeroed out?
Just to zero it out. I been doubting its accuracy for a while, being it is showing 2 psi, with zero pressure. Then I went to drag strip, and had traction issue. I started adjusting tire pressure. Which never really helped. But then I really started doubting the accuracy.
I have the same sound. Appreciate the video
Glad it helped. Thank-you for the comment!!!
nice!
Yeah, I have used this tool at couple of times. Great to have in the tool box. Thank-you for the comment!!!
@RocketGarageService I made something like that 30 year s ago, but it was for a Ford y-block with no bolt holes. My bolts were used as pegs or studs to turn the spokes of the hub/balancer. Mine was a straight bar with tons of holes not circular. The two you've got are alot nicer.
A 2 piece drive line will do this when the Carrier Bearing is going out, because there are 2 slip joints.
I didn't know that. On my Sonoma, when the carrier bearing was going out. I started going a bad vibration based on load (on and off throttle). Thank-you for the comment!!!
Torque converter solenoids as well. Also look into VCM muzzler. Not sure if your year had VCM but if it does it’ll help with smoother acceleration
Good information. We parked the van. I am torn if I want to mess with it or not. Thank-you for the comment!!!
I'm about to replace my gaskets for my valve covers on my 02 Chevy silverado 1500 5.3l ls exd cab Should I replace the valves covers to these new Updated ones or stick to the original for that truck ? I've seen the thing about drilling holes in the inside is that highly recommended ? Will I really notice a difference I do not run a catch can yet
I am torn on it. IDK. Cause you can tell, without destroying the baffle. And the valve cover isn't cheap. But if you play safe then sorry. You can't go wrong with replacing it. Thank-you for the comment!!!
I can barley turn my computer on and this walked me right through it. By following your directions it worked the first try. Thanks.
I am so glad it helped. Thank-you for the comment.
Being it's a Chevy it doesn't give a damn about minor details
LOL, It didn't care. But greasing it, made it a little more comfortable to drive. Thank-you for the comment.
My deddy built one when he was younger and dropped it in a ford fairline and people would be so mad when he gapped them then popped the hood and they seen a baby Chevy 6 just whooped their 327 stroker 😂😂😂
They are so awesome. I want to build a real hot rod version. So simple and works.
Hello, "Rocket Garage and Service" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or ig or where?
I don't think "Notchy" is the word you're looking for. You could have a notch in a belt or describing a spline as a notch. I only see a normal "slip"
LOL, you had be look up Notchy. I am on point with my word selection. Thanks for the comment.
That is normal. It's called a slip yoke because it's made to slip when the axle moves up and down shortening and lengthening the driveline. In the video, you accelerated causing the rear to squat a little snd the pinion to raise a little shortening the shaft length, but all the springs mostly hold it steady because they can hold more load weight, if loaded (I don't think you had a load). Then you hit the brakes and the front generally lowers and the rear spring and shackle raise lengthening the needed shaft length, especially because the unloaded soft spring can flex more. Its obvious about the braking as you see the abrupt shortening when the truck suddenly comes to a complete stoo. It's only a problem if you have a lot of suspension flex, especially off road. You could replace worn parts, or put on limiting straps, or change the slip yoke output to a fixed yoke and get a driveshaft with a longer travel spline on it.
Thank-you for the comment. Yeah I am learning alot. I do want to lengthy the driveshaft. Being this truck has a 6 inch lift. It would make me feel alittle better.
Where did you add the grease?
On amazon. It is Motorcraft PTFE grease.
Ima give her a call
LOL, huh
Leaf spring life
Yup, seems some what normal. Especially with aftermarket wheels and tires. But I am looking into traction bars. I just dont know yet.
This looks like excessise slide play cant be right

I have a 03 ram and I think my drive shaft os doing the same shit 😮
Well, at least you know now LOL. Thank-you for commenting!!!

Thank You!
Glad it help. Thank-you for commenting!!!
Hi, thanks for your video. My hero3 silver is connected to the QUIK app but i can’t see on my screen what the camera sees. It says That I have to Check the connexion. Does anybody have the same issue ?
Thanks for the comment. You ever figure it out? I haven't had a problem with my Quikapp.
Hi thanks for your answer. I think my iPhone is too recent and incompatible with the GoPro wifi :( Sometimes I can see the « image preview » on my iPhone but post of the time it doesn’t work. However both of iPhone and GoPro are connected
Man that’s crazy. Watching this led me to figuring out what was wrong with mine. My rear axle U-bolts had come loose allowing the axle to move under power or harsh braking. Thanks for the vid!
Glad you were able to figure out your problem. Thank-you for commenting!!!
Yall needs traction bars😮
Apparently LOL. I am learning alot. Especially with my wheels and tires. I am researching what I want to do now. Thank-you for the comment.
Hi the files are no longer avaible. Can you provide the link for 3plus black edition?
@@rubenlazaro726 link is in the video description below the video. Everything is still working. I just double checked.
@@RocketGarageService Thanks for the quick reply.😄
I did not realize that a drive shaft comes out and goes in and has that much play while driving
Thank-you for commenting!!! So, I'm learning a lot about this movement. This is pretty common, and it is called Axle wrap. Especially on trucks for after market wheels and tires. Alot of folks are recommending traction bars.
Ok now how do I fix this problem
Check out my channel. I made a video on how-to. Here is link for faster access: th-cam.com/video/lq-MBIkfaBs/w-d-xo.html
You are looking in the wrong place the rear is shifting back
Thank-you for commenting!!! So, I'm learning a lot about this movement. This is pretty common, and it is called Axle wrap. Especially on trucks for after market wheels and tires. Alot of folks are recommending traction bars.
This is a rear end movement leaf spring issue. The Yoke shouldn't move out of the Trans that much when braking!!
Thank-you for commenting! So, I'm learning a lot about this movement. This is pretty common, and it is called Axle wrap. Especially on trucks for after market wheels and tires. Alot of folks are recommending traction bars.
Took us forever to figure out what was making that noise on the Silverados when they first came out back in my dealer tech days. You’re welcome. 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing your experience! Thank-you for the comment
Great swap. I was disappointed Chevrolet/GMC didn't put their awesome 4.2 inline 6 in any pickups. Would have bought one.
I know right. A 4.2 is a bucket list swap for me. Just can't come up with the perfect combo.
Sweet conversion! I have a similar fantasy about putting a slant six in my 720...
What is a 720? I assume a mopar of some sort? Or it this a Datsun? I had a 1971 Datsun 521 as my first truck.
Whats the fix to that
I made a long form video on my channel. Go check it out. Or click this link: th-cam.com/video/lq-MBIkfaBs/w-d-xo.html
Easy fix .its the rear end moveing abnormally.the trany isnt moveing as you see.the shaft is solid .going all the way to the rear end .now whats moveing on the rear end .i know but look yourself its not my truck an im not getting paid for my knowledge.
