Turbocharging my Fiat NH 110-90! Part 3
Probably the most in-depth and technical video so far. In this video I connect the oil lines and fittings, review the stainless steel pipework and talk about "screwing the pump".
The first half of this video was recorded in November, but in order to ensure the tractor actually ran as expected, I held off on any other recording until January. No point in me posting how to videos if it doesn't work!
At the end of the video, I go to a local quarry and collect stones for a project at home. My passenger records a pure sound video, and I talk about the tractor's performance.
This is the key video to the entire project and I highly recommend you watch in full.

    Hello, could you put a. Y fitting or a T where your return oil goes into the block. This could b an easier way to fill oil. Probably not as fast but much easier.

    Oi, you need to turn the center piece so the oil drain is pointet more downwards, otherwise good job!

      I hear what you're saying. That's exactly how it came off an 8340 manifold tho! All I did was clock the compressor housing to suit the Fiat.

      ​@limitedslipdifferences I definitely recommend clocking the core cartridge so that your oil fittings are vertical, the way it's cocked at the minute will act the maggot as if you've the wrong orifice sizes in your fittings. At least as vertical as humanly possible. Seen lads in the PDVW scene cook brand new turbos with that small mistake

    Just take to turbo boost pipe off from the inlet manifold and let it suck n/a and you will see standard power without turbo, then back on for 2nd run to see increase

      You'll over rev the turbo shaft at that craic. Alright to limp around and get ya home but it's madness to do power pulls with the compressor blowing to atmosphere

    Do a dyno without turbo, then a dyno with the turbo on standard pump setting, and then a 3rd power run with a tweak of the pump,, I am guessing 95 pto then 110 pto then 150 pto,, and if you went mad 170 pto, don't do that, forget that

      I mean I could do that and put the pump back to how it originally was if I had to. I reckon she was 115 on the shaft prior to the turbo as it was a very good going tractor. Can say now it isn't 170 and it never will be.

      @limitedslipdifferences they normally do about 150 pto with a turbo and small screw in,, don't worry if it isn't 150,, even 140 is good and reliability is good

      I couldn't even give it a full screw, injector pump said no. It's seen about 5/8 of a turn over what was done pre turbo - but she'd been tinkered previously I'd say

      @limitedslipdifferences yea definitely I am thinking the same,, not a bad thing in some ways it won't have done it any harm. And now the turbo will clear up and black smoke and more power to boot., see if you can get an intercooler from a TM series, the top tank in and out should just fit over the top of your radiator, it will work lovely.       originally did think that, but then you're close to the side panel and still need to put a 90 on it anyway. It's under plenty of pressure, it's getting oil no problem, but I hear what you're saying.

    Do away with that Vacuum hose and get some proper braided oil feed and return lines made up, hot oil going through there is going to end in disaster.

      The vacuum hose was only used to size it up so I could take it to the place that does hydraulic hoses and get it made up properly. That's all in the next episode. I'm using proper rated hydraulic and rubber hose on this build.

    I got a 2004 110-90 with a holset turbo last August. As far as I know, the turbo was fitted from when the tractor was fairly new. 5030 odd hours on the tractor, and everything seems okay. I'm not mechanical minded, but love the 110 always wanted one.

      I believe the TB turbos were actually a Holset, but I don't think they're as big as a 35? Problem with my HX35 is it has a massive compressor housing and therefore needs more fuel to maximize the amount of air you'd want coming in.

      ​@limitedslipdifferences I'm not sure what the model of the turbo, it's wore off, I can see the serial number. But it looks about the size of the garrett turbo you have. It's not as big as the holset 35

      ​@@AMCL5Aye TB scraped the model number off them. Looking at the size of them they're either a HX27 or a HX30. They're not big and I think they're set up with a smaller compressor housing for no lag

    Quick question with the engine upgrade to turbo as you put a Garret turbo was it best first option to a holset turbo and obviously by dynoametering shaft on pto 1000rpm roughly what did pto spec give you would it be same as 130-90dt spec and from flywheel back had a stronger clutch disc and dual clutch pack to take torque loading just getting info is dt tractor 40k/m which I assume thanks for all the info us past fiat drivers love the work you have done they are so simple a tractor to manage they have their flaws but great heart in them👍👍cheers Declan

      You'll hear me talk about the Holset in future episodes. Especially when we get more into the nitty gritty. It's hard to say if it's anything different to the 130-90, you've a beefed up back end and the pistons are different in the engine. I'm not sure if the 110-90 clutch is different than a 130-90 to be honest!

    I can't imagine putting a turbo of a 7.5 litre engine on a 5.9 litre will work that well..that's from 25 years experience as a mechanic

      How mechanic dose not know that turbo as diesel go's strong? Engine size dose not mean any thing same engine can have 3 or 4 diffrent power outputs with 3 or more diffrent setups n/a, turbo, intercooled or big fuel system.

    Great video lad. We done our 110 here. Really made a tractor out of her. Might be worth considering a oil cooler unit under the oil filter closer to the cab. Bit of pipe work involved but will keep the oil from getting burnt out.

      Tbf there's nothing wrong with keeping things cool. At a later stage I'd consider intercooling this thing and an oil cooler as well. I'd run the oil cooler right up to the front of it tho rather than below the cab?

      I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous about your machine. Drove many 110s in the past and ran them hard. I put the needle up on them when under stress so worth considering a bit of cooling help I’d say. Both coolant and oil

    Really really good put together video with two different views from the same run just made it more enjoyable to watch and easier to watch for being over 1hr video keep em coming and hopefully this gave conor the Ich to get into a rwd 😂

      This wasn't originally the plan but when Conor and myself ended up having the same idea I thought it would work well. It took a while to get all the transitions sorted but we got there in the end!

    Falvey is a legend. Following him for last few yrs on socials & his videos wud help anyone on a bad day. Also a very approachable lad spoke to him in Kilkenny at a car show when he had the 3 wheeler on display!

    Its abour timw farmers started to pay inheritance tax albiet much less than the rest of the population. Time farmers play by the same rules as the rest of us mere mortals

      But you also know that's not true because asset wealth doesn't mean actual wealth in terms of cash flow, and you would only inherit wealth if you sell it.. which nobody does. Granted there have been lots of rich people that have done this but the key word is rich...... Why should 99% of farmers suffer for 1% of wealthy corps playing the system

      ⁠​⁠@@limitedslipdifferences.especially in todays economy not a lot of people have the money to go buy a farm for like 3 million it could sit on the market for years think people forget that land prices have skyrocketed and family farms having to sell up makes more room for your rich folk to buy it or some housing development flatten everything and dump a housing estate on it
