If your frame is not sealed up by the bees at the bottom of the frame it will leak. It's not rocket sience. It must bee sealed 90 procent before you turn that key. Please use it as you should before you say it is not a good product...

To make it MUCH easier to crack the cells, get a second 'key' and use them together. Look it up. Its far, far easier
I might be a bit late with an explanation but here goes anyway. The first swarm that you had was a prime swarm, that was your mated queen and 50-60% of your workers. She left quite a few queen cells behind. Those subsequent queens leave as virgins with smaller swarms called cast swarms. They will keep swarming as long as they feel overcrowded. I'd set up a couple of bait hives if I were you. You might not always be so lucky and they might not always land where you can reach. If you don't end up catching your own swarms, you'll probably end up catching someone else's. 300 quid flying into your back garden, wallop! Love the channel by the way, can't wait to see what's what in spring😎
Hi there. . . You've got to much (Comb) Space ! In that a Colony of Bees needs to be 'Consilidated' down to say a Brood + Half, or less in this case, if your Bee Hive Population is no bigger than a Regular x1 Box Langstroth "Nuc" Hive. Especially so come Winter. . .🙄 And with Burr Comb : if a Gap is more than 'Bee Space" they will fill it uo with their own 'Drawn Comb.' (Better to have that Glass or Plexiglass closer to the Comb Face : with just enough room for the 'Worker Bees' to Crawl across that Comb and nothing more.) 👍 Maybe if doing another Build or can do a Retro Fit. I suggest doing a way of : Adding in a Slider 'Division Board' where the Suoering Area is Closed off to the Bees. At the same time Feed them a good amount of Candy (Bee Fondant) almost at or adjacent to the Brood Nest Area. (In the UK this this is when Freezing Temps are experienced !) Bees cannot reduce down the Moisture Level of say 2:1 Sugar Syrup after eg end of October ! And if the Cluster is Small such as in this Footage, even though they have Honey Stores, the Bees can 'Chill' and not break that Cluster (Warmth Mantle) to get to Feed that is just near them ! And end as a "Deadout." I would also think your Setup : Observation Hive needs more Insulation ! If not using a Nuc. Maybe remove those Empty Frames, and insert some Builders Foam/Foil Home Insulation Board : with a Screwed on Top Bar (insert say x1 in that x3 Frame use Space. And add a Roll of Foil Covered "Bubble Wrap" down the Surfaces of your Viewing Doors to maintain a good internal Hive Temp, and reduce Condensation Run Off. Having said that, Bees need some internal Water, if they cannot get out to get it in Freezing Weather. Odd Droplets are OK but not if 'Moisture' is pouring down those Clear Panels. 🙄 Tip : Bees only like x1 Entrance, and for that to be at the Bottom of a Colony ! Guard Bees need to Control all activity carefully. If their are to many upper Vents or Entrances they cannot do this and the Colony cannot control their internal Heat retention either, as there is to much dead (empty) Frame Space for them to 'Control' (!) Finally if this Colony is Small it needs Boosting by maybe thru Combining to another (Weak?) Small Colony : where both might be too Weak to Survive a long Winter ! Not x2 Deadouts ! Have say a "bigger" Single Hive : Choose the Best Queen and 'dispatch' the lesser one ! (Add your Ex Queens to eg a Dark Glass Bottle of Rubbing Alcohol: to make your Own "Swarm Lure" via those well Steeped QMP in that Liquid over time !) Works a treat. . .😏 I think a lot of Beekeepers on TH-cam think an Observation Hive is for Annual use. Where in reality the Colony often die in the Winter Months, when if in a Single Box Poly Nuc, will survive well until Spring ! 😎 Why not use the Observation element say from Spring to late Autumn. For 'Breeding' off your best Queen(s) via a New Install by doing a 'Split' (Artificial Swarm) each Bee Season. Just saying. . . 😉 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 Happy Beekeeping 2024 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

How long does the fondant last ?
@@mariasnell6868 depends how hungry they are

A wet hive is a dead hive. I think that you might have too much condensation in your hives. Maybe you should use the "burlap in the Anel feeder" trick. Might help. Best of luck.
i think the mesh top would still be usable to feed the bees because if you put the icing sugar block thing on the mesh then they might be able to lick the sugar by sticking their tongues through it.
Nice, that's cool looking.👍
Ya I’m taking mine out soon to drain them, did you leave any in for the bees for winter?
whats the link
I cannot think of a more colossal imbicility and ignorance about honey bees than the flow hive. It does not help the bees nor the 'beekeeper' in the least. Everything the flow hive does and represents is just a deeper move away from what bees need and want in their natural pre-disposition for DNA resilience through natural cell size, natural foundation and comb, natural materials, natural behavior, their own decision making and timing, disease resistance, productivity, vitality and living their best life. It is a shame that Flow hives are made to sound good simply by claiming that conventional honey harvest is a problem. Hosting bees in Any kind of hive for the priority of harvesting honey is easily the most degenerate method you could hand to beginners and others too uneducated to have any other purpose in mind. The commercial success of the flow hive is a global failure of knowledge.
How is this hive doing? I’m considering a hive in a shed as I’m moving to a location that having a a hive concealed in a shed would be a better option.
@@marlysjcollins8775 The beehive is doing great. I’ve had five swarms off it this year, bear that in mind. If you’re going to put it in the shed, don’t position it like I have put it on the floor otherwise you will find it difficult to inspect the hive and leave yourself plenty of room to get around it. The position I have placed mine gives me a headache
not a good example,, needs the full weight of the hive to work against,,, bit more torque needed...
Yes close up to keep the mice out. Absconding bees is something I never used to see in the past - but in recent years it seems to have become 'a thing'. In my case I put it down to my non treatment of my colonies. I don't treat any of my colonies and I think (but don't know) that absconding may be part of my bees dealing with the mites.
👍
Feel for you lad. It's worse when you can't work out why it's happened as it just niggles away at you.
Shame about that hive . Sometimes we never know why . Hope the up and coming months are good for you .

dude just delete this mess from youtube lol its not that its chinese its just that you cant think before you put that tool inside
Excruciating
If it is not a Flow Hive, but a Chinese Clone, don't have "flow hive" in the video's title.
Put the key a third of the way in and turn it, then go further and crank it in sections until the whole frame has been cranked. The Flow hive team in Ox explains this method.
@@colinhills5249 This is a Chinese 🇨🇳 flow hive it does not work
Have you moved all your hives from the garden to the allotment or are you doing both. Do you think these anel hives are good? Cheers lad
@@razashah4728 I still have my first hive from just over a year ago in the shed, and I have the observation hive in the shed. I also have the Bee boxbarn at the side of the shed and five hives at the allotment going commercial now. 😆🕯️🐝☕️🫖🚬
Looking at these Anel hives myself, might get a couple as they seem cheaper then the abelos
Simple design flaw that needs to be rectified by the designer.

Do you find the fondant infront increases robbing or any problems with wasps, im still feeding mine on the crownboard but its a long way to climb two brood boxes and supers
@@flazzy6931 I only put a little bit of fondant on the front only last two days not a big deal I don’t think, if you’ve got two brood boxes and two supers above the brood boxes you shouldn’t be feeding them. they will use fondant to make honey which is no good.
@@Honey4myHoney-fv2wu just for drawing frames
Do you use the new frames just as they come without putting wax on them?
Plastic sucks.......it's not eco, it's just a crime putting more plastic in. the nature...bees are linked with trees since millions of years, for all natural reasons......and plastic has becamed a mass nature killer, despite all the information about, capitalists still sacrifying the planet for their benefit, and they are planning to do even worst......damned chemicals poisons !! Damned capitalists, real terrorists, those cleptocrates rulling and calling themself "democrats"....
Can you provide a link to buy one of these? I have seen them at £150 but a £20 saving is always welcome.

Love seeing how these bees are doing in these Anel hives . 😊
Good to see the allotment apiary expanding steadily. To colour co-ordinate would it be possible to swap the yellow entrance from the blue Anel with the blue entrance from the yellow one ?
@@rj9444 cheers 🍻, yes you could swap. I just didn’t want to disturb them at this stage.
These are so good, but so expensive, mind you, if you take away the cost of an extractor from the price of the hive it makes a little more sense. I cant understand why these are being so difficult, I have seen them emptied before andit was a 2 minute job.
Эти рамки опорожняют только и исключительно в улье.Тогда этот процесс будет идти быстро
It's not the original, but a Chinese clone.
I wouldn’t recommend pulling on those wires, they are what holds the frames together. I find picking the loosest frame and with the hive on its side pushing up from the bottom. Leave that first frame out and the rest are easy. You can tell when the frames are ready to harvest through the windows and back. It’s the brood box you need to go through when the flow starts to get rid of any swarm cells. The Flow people put lots of really helpful information on U Tube . All the best on your beekeeping journey.
I bought some wood last year to make a gate and frame and was shocked how much it cost me, what would you estimate the cost for the wood for a Bee Barn and 20 frames? I think once you get some brood hatched out, with so many bees the rest will get drawn out and filled pretty quickly. I saw those Bee Barns when Jim released them and I intended to build one but I think the lack of videos from him over the last year made me forget about them until I came across your channel.
@@AndrewAHayes between two and £300, frames you can Google and make them yourself 👍🕯️🐝
