Wondering what bands the greasers were listening to in 1970
Hard rock. Deep Purple Led Zep but especially Black Sabbath. Plus Steppenwolf doing their 'anthem' 😅
@@richardingamells7213 well good stuff then. Much better than late 50s rock and roll
@@AVANTRecords Oh yeah much better than the basic rock & roll stuff. Especially the more country based numbers as opposed to the more bluesy/r & b based tunes. I did like the modern jazz groups from the mid to late 50s however. All contributed to the sound of many of the rock acts circa the late 60s into early 70. Plus the folk & classical influences also. From blues into psychedelia onto hard rock & jazz rock then beyond. There was so much brilliant music back then. Too many groups to name including many who never hit the big time or stuck to the club circuit. Lots can now be found on TH-cam thank the Gods. I was more of soul Motown & reggae boy back then but appreciated other genres. too. Whilst they were simpler more straightforward times generally musically & movie media wise much more simplistic & rudimentary these days. Whether it's the 'musical' output of Simon Cowall JK Rowlings novels or the never ending mega billion dollar dross of Hollywood. Even the more well established 'artists' such as Coldplay & Adele with their (at best) basic nursery rhyme level melodies
@@richardingamells7213 kind of agree with you although there's still plenty of good stuff, it just stays underground these days as the mainstream is only for silly music right now unfortunately
@@AVANTRecords Sure there's some great stuff now but you have to search for it. There's a few brilliant contemporary bassists I follow. However they're generally professional/session guys as opposed to being in a band. We've always had naff MOR & bubblegum chart acts such as The Osmonds & Mud through to Peter's & Lee (lol) whom I well remember. Still the quality of their output though easy listening & throwaway knocks anything musically by even the better acts now into a deep pit of dung without effort. For me personally the likes of Simon Cowall along with the Rave Scene explosion set music on a steep downwards path circa the early 90s in particular. No doubt many will (& do indeed) disagree bitterly with me 🙄
I wonder what become of them all😅
The skinheads look like a bunch of frightened kids compared to the greasers. They walked in terrified, like they wouldn't say boo to a goose. The greasers were full on taking the piss and they wouldn't even look them in the eye.
Bear in mind the greasers were generally older aswell as battle hardened. Many formerly rockers in the early 60s. A number did National Service too. As for the Bovver Boys it was more about the music & clobber with the younger ones. Of course there were hard cases aswell. Still way smarter & more dignified than the unemployable crackhead scum in hoodies trackies & trainers with shit taste in music we have now. With a dozen kids by different women & who'll spend half their adult life in clink. Both the skins & greasers here I'll add
The Skins looked way smarter than them Greasers 👊🏼💥💯
'Smarter' ffs lol. Good job you didn't tell them greasers that, you might have hurt their feelings.
@@claymor8241 sorry if I triggered some past trauma ffs 😂😂😂😂😂
Cool mayor
This is the best piece of original skinhead media I've ever seen
✊💯
We played a Scotswood school at football in 70s,half the team played in Doc Martens !! So funny😅
REAL SKINHEADS!!! 1969
13year old skin now. Never dies.. skinhead youth 🔛🔝
Top cloths shop back in the day.number 65 from Kingston to Richmond.
THE WAY OF LIFE
Blimey O’reilly !!! Just came across this. The bloke right at the beginning, with the long sideburns, is Danny Harkins. He was a face at Chelsea and his nickname was Eccles. I used to stand next to him in the Shed !!! 🤣🤣
I've been tradskin in for 2 years. I still don't undertstand when young people calling me a nazi. I aint no nazi, I am a passifist.
Harringtons never went away!
About time it came back. Time to become someone and not be the homogenised, spoonfed, brainwashed kids of today.
What a time capsule , ' Skinheads '. Listening to Ska ?
Loved that shop
What ever happened to British sub culture? It used to be very prevalent amongst the youth, nothing like it anymore
I've asked the same question many times. It's sad.
Song's ?
They also hated Pakistanis. You can't sugar-coat the fact that even some of the original skinheads committed what we today would call hate crimes against Asians.
My brother was a skinhead and I was a hippie we hated each other.
Nee skinheeds in Scotswood now...plenty of Rasheeds though.
I think it’s great to see wealthy people not listening to all the negative publicity about Skinheads.I have met many wealthy people, none of whom are snobs.I’ve met plenty of ‘wannabes’ that are as stuck up as hell 💯❤️🇬🇧
Class
'skinheads' with shoulder length hair?. .. lol ...I think we can see the demonization of whites taking place again here . . . . .
Great days of Britain ...No invaders or africans ruining our Land .
..They did everything going to make the Ethnic population look bad .....now we see what has happened ......hmmmm ?!!!!!! ...
These reporters reporting on these youth cultures sometimes meant well, sometimes not. But they were always cringe-worthy with their questions, you can tell they don't understand. They might as well be interviewing an alien. How would you explain why you like a certain kind of music? You just do.
Hahaha, the woman 2:32 just dropped acid and is tripping :P
hi i'd like to use some parts of this video for my next video clip,do you think it's possible ? Thanks😉
no proper skinhead haircut.

Great archive .. I always ask ....I wonder what become of them all ?
Married, had kids, got old, died.
Last guy had a trust fund. Ended up a banker in the city.
Lived with the Newcastle skins at that time. Really bloody Fridays in the chares and the station. No regrets. Anti hairies and drugs...Spit and Vom.Blackie Boy.Haway the lads.Long live Newcassel !
Eccles!!! Danny is still going, myself too. I'm 68 nowadays and still a skin. Long live Symarip.
Wish I was still part of the group...68...need to piss every right mins...equals no beer...retire
@michaelMix-fl9ic You'll always be part of it mate. Once a Chelsea skinhead forever a Chelsea skinhead 🤜🏼🤛🏼
That first skin has the most interesting cut. He has the cropped top and cut a part in, but his sides kind are slightly feathered. Not seen that before.
@@Mickyfrench65 when Skins started to shave bald?
@@Mickyfrench65 I very much know the history, mate. Been cut in for over 35 years. You can find me still shopping at Sherry’s , John Simons, and even Modfather. You can also see me at regular dances and festivals like The London International Ska Festival, The Great Skinhead Reunion, even plenty of gigs in The States. I was just noticing a particular style of hair on a specific lad that isn’t ever seen in other pics and vintage footage.

Danny Harkins...Chelsea leader....legend
08:35 what does he say?!
‘Boots. They don’t go in’. ‘You’re joking’. ‘Off, both of you’. You’re welcome.
Top !!!
Skinhead or Suedehead?
It’s hard to say, the Coronation Street wardrobe department probably didn’t bother themselves with the minutiae. The youngest one has a suede haircut and even the others have roughly the right hairstyle, but then again no sta-prest or tank tops or barathea blazers. And a lot of skinheads from the early 70s had more grown-out hair then the later shaved look.
