Outro theme sounds like "Do it Again" by Steely Dan. Zia's response to the question at 22:32 is very interesting - why did rubber bridge get abandoned on the marketing front? To be fair, I think the appeal of four-deal bridge makes more sense... the fact you can eventually win a war of attrition and just bid partials on your way to victory is weird. But why is comparatively little focus being put on encouraging people to just sit down at a table, shuffle, and deal? It doesn't directly make money for bridge organizations, but it's a short-sighted approach. If the casual game is encouraged, the pipeline into tournament play is bolstered.

Thank you for posting this series. Just ran across these. Zia's play on the 2nd hand and the speed with which he works out the hand is magnificent. Also interesting to see his approach to the 1st hand.

Splendid to see how bridge was played (and televised) in the last century. I could smell the nicotine ! Is there some 21st century coverage of players bidding weak 12-14 NT ACOL that is played at a reasonable tempo ? From what I've been able to find, much modern competitive bridge available on TH-cam is played (particularly the bidding) at a glacial pace. Can anyone suggest other uploads to watch ? Well done for making the series available - now where are those cigarettes ???
