Chocolateria Equador - Coimbra - the best hot chocolate in Portugal!
Wecome to Chocolateria Equador in Coimbra, which quite possibly has the best hot chocolate in Portugal! Also recommend the Ginginha (cherry liqueur) which is served with a cherry chocolate on the side.

I absolutely adore Portugal, and wouldn't usually post about the negatives, but a lot of you have been asking me if there are any downsides. Of course, no where is perfect, and these are a few things that you need to be aware of if you're visiting Portugal (or relocating here) from the UK or USA. The things I dislike about Portugal... 1. Slippy pavements (calçadas) 2. Beaurocracy 3. Bead weathe...

Sick to Death Chester - Happy Halloween! Medicine through time exhibition

Stuff like this really freaks me out, but a few of you insisted that I visited 'Sick to Death' while I was in Chester. The plague doctor and medieval actors were really fab - this place really brings history to life. There were some gross topics including the plague, an autopsy room, the spread of cholera and how they used to treat the mentally ill. Gosh, with all my ailments I don't think I wo...

ahhh o desejo de ter uma tuna que me acompanhe numa declaração de amor

Really, a British woman complains about Portugal? The shamefull behavour of the brits in Algarve is disgusting, always drunk, naked on the street, vomiting, simulate sex and somethimes doing it in front of childrens. And lots of fights and distrucion of propraties special the futball holligans...
Desculpem pelos britânicos bêbados! Isso não é mim! Adoro Portugal e eu estudo Português! Viu o meu vídeo no total? Ponto 7 eu falo sobre isso!
Only 7? Any average portuguese person has a much longer list of things they don't like about Portugal. Numbers 2, 5, 6 and 7 are included in their lists, that's for sure. Btw, Coimbra is not Northern Portugal, it's right smack in the centre. 😉
Thanks and I’m sure you are right. I love Portugal so much, but of course nowhere is perfect! I do have more actually…..I forgot to mention the mosquitos! Thanks for stopping by. Amy
How long have you been in Coimbra? There are so many more, even better restaurants. Not that some of your suggestions aren't worth, but... some are the run-of-the-mill touristy bait. Things were better a couple year ago too regarding restaurants... With the influx tourists standards dropped a bit tbf. If you want a semblance of proper sushi, go visit Ishi. Not to mention Ma, but that's an experience, not a meal. For an Italian experience, Italianino. Mia Bella is also a prized pizza place. If you're feeling more rustic and just want to eat a damn nice pizza, on the out skirts you've got A Variante. And for crying out loud, you've got to try a proper tasco, "Churrasqueira da Cidreira". For a bit more instagramable quality dishes or the "leitão", you've got Santos And do yourself a favor, on lazy weekend, go visit Afonso in Tentúgal and have some roasted chorizo with fresh/cottage cheese and corn bread freshly made. And if you expand your options to include the triangle between Fig. da Foz and Aveiro, then the offer explodes. Follow Gastropiço, he gives some cool advises. A bit from all over the country, but he also speaks about the area.
Amazing thank you! I’ve been here for about eight months, and yes I’d love to try some more authentic local places. Absolutely love these recommendations and I’m gonna start checking them out!
This made me laugh 😂 I am from the north of Portugal, Porto specifically. If I didn't go out in the rain, I'd stay inside for 8 months in a year, Porto is a hell of a lot rainier than the UK (I lived there). We go outside of course. We are just careful.
So glad that this made you laugh haha! I think I’ve been basing my concept of people staying in during the rain on Lisbon - the streets are dead there when it rains! Of course, with Porto, you’d rarely leave the house during some months! You have lived in England, but maybe not Manchester, because I lived in Manchester for 7 years and rarely a day without rain there! Manchester is definitely rainier than Porto!!!!! Thanks for stopping by and keep watching my Portuguese adventures!
Imagine a brit reading number 3 while visiting the Algarve during the past week... I bet they'd wish they were somewhere between Leiria and Viana do Castelo during those days. 😄
@@module79l28 hahahhaaa! Exatamente!
The calçada is just the worst. It made sense in the XVIII century not in the XXI century.
Exactly.
So sad lady nathing good to say about take that and be appy🎉
Plenty good to say if you actually watch my channel haha!
The Curvee Bread and Oilves used to be free or very cheap, only in the 90s become a paid commodity, butter, pates and specially cheese has allways been paid for.
Yes exactly!
You are going to discover a lot more that you don't like, especially if you usually drive in Portuguese roads, from the small ones to "motorways", Portuguese have a tendency to drive like they only have rights and absolutely no duties towards others, that's one, and there are many more.
Are you sure is not a bit like that in Britan? Specially in London.
I have heard about this also! I’m a non-driver so this shouldn’t affect me directly, but a lot of my friends complain about it haha!
Ya, she will hate it, the portuguese have the crazy idea of driving against the traffic! They drive on the right side of the road!!!
@@TempleSeeker Hard to live in Portugal without driving.
@@argonauth UK has 68 Million people with 1624 fatal victims in 2023 "0.002%", Portugal has 10.53 million people with 479 deaths from road accidents also in 2023 "0.004%", I'm afraid it is not. There are far more accidents with fatal and seriously injured people in Portugal, proportionally than in UK.
I had no idea that in Britain people get things for free... Nothing is for free here in Portugal, even more at a restaurant.
Those breads are usually complimentary with a meal in Uk, but you will pay WAY more on the bill! So although they are technically ‘free’ you are paying for them indirectly! My bill in an average restaurant in UK is usually double or triple what it is in Portugal.
@TempleSeeker that I have no doubt. It's like taxes... One way or another you don't get rid of them.
Exactly! They get you one way or another!
Go away.
All true! Even for us, Portuguese, all those issues are very challenging. Cheers, from Lisbon. :)))))))))))))))))))
Thank you so much for stopping by! Obrigada :-)
I´m 100% Portuguese and am extremely proud of my nationality, nevertheless I am not blinded by it. On the forest fires issue, I believe it´s intimately connected with the high levels of corruption that are prevalent in Portugal. How else can we explain the year upon year repeat of the same crimes without consequence? Year upon year, we invest more resources to fight these crimes, but with very little to show for it. Point nº 8: CORRUPTION!
Sim André, já percebemos
I'm Portuguese and I also agree with all your points. I personally suffer with the dogs everyday because the street I live in has many houses with dogs barking on the terraces all day and , believe it or not, there's even 1 lady that has more than 30 dogs!!! Cheers
Thanks so much for your comments. Yeah I don’t know why some people don’t walk their dogs and then bring them inside to sleep. Maybe it’s a different mindset where the dogs are more as guard dogs - but yeah it can be a problem! I still love Portugal so much though and would rather be here than in UK every time haha!
I feel like you would stay in your country 😂😂😂what about that
I would rather stay in Portugal for sure! (See my other videos!) But lots of people ask me for both the good and the bad so that they can make an informed decision when they move. So I give the good and the bad on my blog!
yeah could be better but those are small complains so .................
Exactly. No where is perfect! But at the end of the day Portugal for me is oh so much better than Uk.
@@TempleSeekerwhy do you find Portugal better than UK??
Mainly for me the climate because I suffer from asthma and a few joint issues, so the warmer weather is much better for my health. However, there are a lot of other things about Portugal that I prefer to UK including the food and the more relaxed pace of life.
As Portuguese I agree with all, the British live in a community, if you want to escape it, should moved out of the Algarve region
Yes absolutely! I much prefer the North. I am enjoying the student life in Coimbra right now, and later on I may consider a move to Braga or Aveiro.
Go back to your country!
@@TempleSeekerim going to give you a bit of wisdom given to me by a woman that always wear heels lol, ALWAYS walk on the black stones on the pavement when its raining, they are not remotelly as slippery as the white ones.
@@isabelinhagomes9076 Para que esse comentário ? Isso é deveras reles
Amazing thank you! Great advice! It’s raining right now in Coimbra so I will put this into action!
I would be terrified to wear heels in half the cities in Europe, haha. I would break my ankle.
Exactly! Walking boots all the way!
I am Portuguese and I have to say that I agree 100% with what you point out. I guess you already know us quite well😁
Portugal is my second home haha! In fact, I think I actually should have been born Portuguese!
You know me and fooooooood!!!
Yesssssss! You would love Coimbra!
I love walking along the river Dee with the dogs.
It’s also a very dog friendly city 🎉
Hi Amy, I have a general question - as a travel blogger have you found traffic diminishing as AI search results become more prominent?
Good question. I have indeed! But, I don’t believe that it is a result of AI content being better than genuine travel blogs, but I feel that Google is favouring it because they can earn more $$$ with their AI partners! I’m hoping that eventually people stop trusting Google (because the AI content they favour highly in their search engines is crap), people will go to other search engines (such as duck duck go) and then Google will either panic and revert back to bring up genuine search results or just go under completely!! What do you think?
Amazing! Don't know how you have done this so quickly xxx
Best day ever!❤

Even after the site got approval from the mediavine journey platform on October 29, today is November 7, ads are not showing on my site. When I open my site from PC or smartphone, instead of ads, I only see the promotional banner of mediavine journey in the middle of the content, whereas other ads should be visible in the content. So what should I do, I put my question on Mediavine Journey community but got no response

We thoroughly enjoyed watching the scenery of Chester. England, my friend! The city's beauty was truly mesmerizing and captivating. Thank you for sharing this amazing experience with us!
Ah thank you so much for watching! That is really lovely to hear. If there are any more UK cities that you would like me to explore on video just let me know and I will see what I can do! Have a great day :-)
Enjoyed your video. Took me back to the days when I worked at North West Bank (formerly North West Securities) by the side of the canal. Chester is quite a compact city, so it was easy for me to take a stroll in the park or city centre at lunchtime. Also one of the more delightful shopping experiences. And of course, Harkers every Friday after work. Fond memories.
Ah, so lovely, thanks for watching and commenting. It's a really walkable city, I love it!
Twenty minutes? York City centre is less than five minutes away from the station, and I’m a slow walker these days.
Thanks, I guess it depends on which part of the city centre! Sorry, I should have been more specific - 15-20 minutes walk from the station to the shambles. Thank you so much for watching :-)
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! If there are any more Uk cities you’d like to see drop me a comment!
