I NEVER seem to find the eight in the middle of the day, so seeing them a second time was amazing! Just when I'm starting to worry, I seem to find them. It was October last year when we started losing some, but so far this year maybe the trapper has greener pastures to attend to. Then, they all went nuts!

Saw some of our peas, but found a young peachick and her mom while running an errand in the eastern part of Pasadena. It seems this area has also been hit hard by the trapper.

Was looking all over for the eight lil peas and their mamas and suddenly there they were on this lawn again. They're coming out later than I expect. They're smarter than me running around at the coldest part of the day at dawn.

Almost all the peas were at or around this one house on this morning, all for the freshly seeded lawn. Later, Peamama 8 and her two kids stop by moms.
Dying or Drunk Opossum

I left thinking this animal was suffering... but from poison, or disease, or cat attack, or was it just drunk??? Never did find out, but the animal control guys left it alone it what I was told. They did come out and see it. He must have thought it had more of a fighting chance than being brought it and euthanized.

We got a special treat today with Henry. If you think about it, we are blessed to be able to see peacocks at all. Most of human history they were native to India and Sri Lanka and most of humanity never got to see all the glorious peafowl (or other lovely creatures). Nowadays we don't even have to leave the house, we can just click on something to see animals from every corner of the world. What a time to be alive!

That hen is going through menopause! Or something similar to that This is very rare! Glad you picked that up. There's a channel on TH-cam called "Dmfett" and they have a video on this topic. Glad all the peas are going well. I'll see if I can find the video for you

Honestly it's gotten to the point where I wish I never started following or caring about them. It's killing me. What's happened to them maybe only I know because of how closely I followed them, and it's been cruel.

I'd get a long stick or something to shepherd the peas across traffic. Plus cars won't try to hit a human.

When they have ear infections they can get disoriented. Sometimes they even walk in circles.
You are right, opossums do not carry rabies. And it definitely looks like it is intoxicated.
U r so wrong. Mother opossums carry their young on their back. To let you know she can only carry about 13 in her pouch. As they have 13 nipples. So the first to arrive live. Such is nature. And those that survive ride on her back. After feeding off her nipples. Which she has 13. And they grow from that; they need to ride on her back to get bigger and live. If not, well nature is nature. Not always pretty. As I have a few females who come to feed from my backyard. And I'm happy to help them. I have learned much...maybe you should
Opossums don't / can't carry rabies. Their body temperature is too low for the disease to survive. It was probably poisoned.
Can opossums carry the h5n1 virus?

I would so coral the peacock in a pen
Clearly the animal is injured or sick. Possums are nocturnal and seeing them out like this during the day is unusual.
likely poisoned or maybe it found some over ripe fruit... animal control found it and left it alone
@pasadenapeacocks thinking your black&white cat has been working over the baby possum for several hours. Domestic and Farrel cats are your top predator in urban and rural housing area's. Over ripe fruit...lol.
