    Subbed. Hope you continue to make content. It’s great! Researching places to go away after mental gymnastics with TUI that I only have a week to decide. I’m restricted by locations to stay (unfortunately) and mainly resorts. Flipping between La Palma and Gomera. Down side is I don’t drive or speak a word of Spanish (terrible with language) Any advice for a first time visitor to the canaries? Thinking may, but with the August Perseid meteor shower? Argh decisions decisions!

    Very informative with wonderful footage, thankfully nobody was killed during the eruptions, many may curse the disruption to family life and livelihoods but we also need to give thanks to natures power which created life on these islands in the first place, it wouldn't have happened without volcanic activity, I'm sure the Palmeros will come back strong. ❤God Bless from the Azores.

    Human nature makes it difficult to think in geologic time scales. However, with practice, one can. And, then, you start to recognize the tentative nature of our existence, particularly in places like volcanic islands.

    This idea has been put forward as being 'about to happen, maybe' since i first began reading about green energy options....in about 1980. I think if you really look at how much anything of this kind contributes to actual global energy use, or storage, it won't turn out to be even hardly a measurable amount in terms of percentage in the big picture, and I suspect it will stay that way.

    Beautiful shots of a beautiful island. I visited all the places in the video except Playa de Santiago. I've walked almost 300km on La Gomera... If I can recommend, the Ermita de San Juan above Hermigua is very nice. And it's probably accessible by car. The most memorable experience on the island for me was hiking from Agula to Mirador de Abrante. I walked it twice because the first time there was so much fog that I even got lost above Mirador de Abrante.

    • @CanariesExplorer

      That's a lot of walking, well done. La Gomera is a walking paradise and perfectly safe like all the islands from people and creatures. Most people are ignorant of the beauty and advantages of the Canaries.

    Thanks for the beautiful video. It seems to me that there aren't that many commented videos on TH-cam about the Canary Islands considering that it is the best holiday destination for Europeans in winter. I hope to be able to visit all the islands in the next few years.

    • @CanariesExplorer
      @CanariesExplorer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you should do. Ideal in winter, easy to get to, no mosquitoes or venomous creatures cheap, diverse scenery, places to explore and beaches. They all offer something different. I'm going to do a video soon comparing all of them and which is better for the type of experience you want.

    • @Nhkg17

      @@CanariesExplorer So far I have only visited Tenerife and La Gomera. To tell you the truth, I'm not really interested in beaches, I go to the islands for hiking. I didn't encounter any mosquitoes there, but on La Gomera there were some pretty annoying spider webs in places where not many people go. This year I plan to spend the Christmas holidays at La Gomera or Hierro.

    • @CanariesExplorer
      @CanariesExplorer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Valle Gran Rey in La Gomera is one of my favourite places because of the beautiful setting, the facilities and not too many people.I have never been to El Hierro but I expect it to be a a more basic version of La Gomera and La Palma with less infrastructure and facilities. All are great for hiking but La Palma has more diversity with both volcanic and green regions.

    • @CanariesExplorer
      @CanariesExplorer 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The vast majority of people go to La Palma to explore and hike in the natural beauty not to sit around beaches. If you want beaches then go to Gran Canaria or Fuerteventura .

    • @zafira976
      @zafira976 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no need to sit around, even for a quick swim it's just not appealing at all. Why are you getting all butthurt when the beaches are clearly looking like swamps and the sand like mud? I get it that people want to have a break from the miserable European winters and need some warmth in Jan-Feb. But You can't convince people that ugly is pretty. Look at Majorca, Corsica, Sardinia or the Greek Island. That is real beauty from all points of view. The villages and towns also look a lot better than the Canary islands. The all year round nice climate is a good selling point for the Canaries, not their beauty, that's for sure

    • @esther223
      @esther223 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zafira976I actually really liked the black volcanic beaches of La Palma, it’s unique and something different than the general white sand beaches which can be found everywhere. Also the structure of the sand is nicer as it’s a bit more rough and can be easily swiped off. But well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess

    Good video but not actually true. This section won't complete the ring road. As you say it will join up with the ring road at El Tanque but that only goes as far as Las Longueras. From there it is 12kms of single carriageway until it picks up the ring road again on the edge of Puerto de la Cruz. This section is still in the planning stage so given the 8 year delay so far I'll be surprised if it's completed before 2030.

    • @CanariesExplorer
      @CanariesExplorer ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair point but I did say that there is a single carriageway until the motorway. However, the slowest and most tedious section in the route will be avoided. The single carriageway section is fast moving and having a dual carriageway would probably only save another 5 mins. In that sense, it is like completing the ring road - ring roads aren't alway dual carriageway in many countries!

    • @paulnovak3864
      @paulnovak3864 ปีที่แล้ว

      No one local wants the final section as its fast and no hold ups and it will ruin the coast - still waiting for my by pass in england since 1982 so tenerife is much more advanced then the foggy island

    • @nigelhodgkins7166
      @nigelhodgkins7166 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paulnovak3864 You're probably right about it ruining the landscape. The plans I've seen show it passing less than a mile from my house with multiple tunnels and bridges so will probably be prohibitively expensive.

    • @barrypickles6546
      @barrypickles6546 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will probably ruin Santiagos thriving little stop off industry. I can't see it ruining the coast, from the video it looks like it is exiting far above el Tanque and will run down to the high section above San Juan and gerrachio. It is possibly the most impressive road tunnel I have heard about, imagine when the lava starts seeping in.
