My channel is mostly about trains, both from my perspective as a railfan and as a volunteer at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum in Campo, CA. Music is also important in my life, including playing clarinet again after not playing for a very long time.

Returning on one of PSRM's "Ticket to Tecate" excursions. The Mexican railroad required us to have one of their engineers and conductors in the cab. We stopped at Lindero where they got off the locomotive and our engineer took over for the remaining 6 1/2 miles east to Campo. International border Tunnel #4 is a short distance from Lindero. Video recording and editing by Randy Houk.

Outstanding Randy. Say, I am not familiar with where that is....could you send me a map showing that route?
Maybe tomorrow. On my way now to run North Pole trains.
@@RandyHouk Have fun today Engineer Bill.....green light, red light!!!
Nice. Thanks for giving me a free ride!😅
I hope they can revive this
Why? We've spent bazillions of dollars. Had a dozen different operators. Every one of them failed. Even when it was running at it's peak it was way below the break even point of income vs costs. It might be romantic to look at but as a business venture, it's proven true to it's name "The Impossible Railroad".
Wow the sand was really built up in areas. As of 2024 much interest is again on this R. R. These guys are lovin this job 😂
Apparently there is yet another study ongoing whether the entire line can be used again. In the meantime, come out to PSRM Campo to ride one of our trains. Next up are the North Pole trains starting on November 29th.
I thought it was illegal to have your phone out in the cab?
I was not part of the crew, and I used a camcorder.

Just a rail carters paradise
here we are 2024 and tunnel collapses and wash outs
The film is Lost but there may be a print in Australia, it is rumor or rumored that John Wayne is possibly in the film as an Extra but we are yet to know.
Nice performance
Thanks!
Nice ❤
Beautiful camera work. I love how the engine passes through the shadows on the curve. Well done!
Nice video
Thanks Randy. Wish this ride could be duplicated now, hoping for someday!
Yes, the scenery is very interesting, and Tecate is a nice place to visit. I crewed close to 100 Tecate trips, mostly as conductor and engineer.
The MRS-1 that is in this video is the EMD MRS-1, and not the Alco MRS-1. You can tell the two MRS-1 Diesels apart based on the roof. Alco MRS-1’s have a rounded continuous roof. EMD MRS-1’s have an Angular roof, and a flat portion.
Wait wait so the US army made this locomotive like they did planes in ww2 so 1 model is built by many diffrent manufacturers?
The MRS-1 Series of Locomotives (produced by Alco & EMD) are fine locomotives indeed. Sure wish there could be official HO scale models of them.
what a lovely song!
That was my favorite piece! Lovely, lovely music!
cool to see that dismantled wigwag at 6:24
Everything along that line needs to be replaced. I think the Goat Canyon trestle would probably need to be replaced as well as everything is rotting away.
32:21 A flat loaded with brand new Western Electric KS-15676 microwave antennæ , possibly headed to Phoenix Main. AT&T's Bell System was accelerating expansion of their nationwide nicriwave radio network to meet toll traffic demands of those times. I used to work on that stuff.
This must be Super8. Resolution's too good to be 8mm.
As a danish train fan, i see these and their electric variation the ir4 all the time in Denmark. i find it really interesting when it goes to other countries
Thanks for posting this, Semper Paratus!
A genuine harbinger of things to come! DMU's to Escondido!
На самом деле она так бы не сделала. Это опасно!
Brilliant video thank you for uploading!
You're very welcome!
This is really cool, wish they still used bonnets on this line but its always cool too see the new H4 scheme on some of these ex-ATSF bonnets

5 chime is nice. Isn’t this 2353s original whistle or feather river shay 3s original 5er??
What number is the low trailer coach?? Not the MUs though. Original specifically
Hundreds of millions of dollars to repair it ???? You forgot that the rails are outdated and need replacing as well !!!!
Thank you for sharing. My pops took me out too at Cajon when I was 12 years old in the late 80s early 90s.Brings me back so much memory as a boy.
Cool footage! But hard to watch, with all the bouncing and scene cuts.
Coos Bay #11 is lucky to still be around today in preservation, with the exception of it’s sibling #10 unfortunately. It could’ve been in operation at the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, Oregon rather than being scrapped.
Men that’s long ago the bridge and tunnels were fresh back then but now land sides and other things the old rail line needs ton of work if they want it to get it working for example making the tunnels wider and bigger trains just get longer bigger taller.
I think that was Jim Kipp on clarinet that year. Yes! Wonderful! (Lee)
Yes, and freshman Mike Raab on oboe, if memory serves.
If you’re a trombone picker or any brass member, how could you not love this classic march. One of my favs….
still got it !!! :)
Thanks Randy!
You can see Juan Flores, current drumline instructor really digging it!
Oh that brought back memories.
I could see some of the band members swaying to that cadence as if they were marching on the street!
I must admit to doing some swaying!
Randy. Thanks for posting this!
You're very welcome, Tim.
It's a better performance than you might expect from a high school band at that time. But it was a big school with first-rate instructors in the area.
Mt. Miguel was noted for its "light concert sound," even on the march.
a bit slow in tempo for street marching, but nice job band. By the way, those chairs for the band members are horrible. It doesn't look like it promotes good playing posture....just my observation.
Not a bit slow, way too slow!
Great job band.....The Army of the Nile is one of my favorite marches. ......Russell D.
