Chrysler engine code p1391- 4.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee
The right side timing chain tensioner failed after installing a new timing chain kit. After the install chrysler engine code p1391 popped up, Knowing the chains and tensioners are new, this lead me to believe it was the cam and crank sensors. After I installed the new cam and crank sensors the code was still on and the engine was jumping around still. I took off the timing cover only to discover that the new tensioner failed. Moral of the story... buy reputable parts before you spend money on parts that are not needed. Hey at least my jeep has new sensors that shouldn't go bad for several years!

Excelent bro, thank you
Thank you so much. I had brand new tensioners that failed, only lasted miles. I couldn’t figure what it was. I tested the harness and everything worse I thought it could be. I found this video and decided to pull it all apart again and found I had the same issue.
Nice engine! Did you change chain guide and tensioner arm? or just changed tensioners and chains?
Yes I changed out the guides and tensioner. The old chain guide was cracked and this kit included new guides and tensioner arms, but I recommend getting different chain tensioners as these failed.
@@lobolj53 Yes, I will try to buy Mpar tensioners. Thanks for the tip.
Cheap Chinese parts that faulty part ?
chinese kit sucks mate
Same w mine, worn chain guides, broken hidraulic chain tensioners holder and broken chains... Same error
Lmao 😂 I bought the kit and same thing happened the slack sound
That's awful that it happened to you as well. The company has no customer service at all. So I went with mopar tensioners and I haven't had any problems, chains are solid. Next I will be adding solid lifters instead of the hydraulic lash adjusters it has now.
LOBO LJ did your Mopar tensioners come whit the metal plate
@@headhancho6406 yes it did.
LOBO LJ on both tensioners?
@@headhancho6406 No. The right doesn't need one, but the left one does and the left one was the only one that has a plate.
DUDE I FUCKING LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOU JUST SAVED MY LIFE IVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM FOR A MONTH I’ve done everything to figure this out countless hours of research and troubleshooting and you my friend have saved me a lot of money and stress can’t thank you enough for this video
Hey mate i bought the same kit with the tensioners and chains. Ive changed crank and cam sensor and still have the same p1391 code and with the new cam sensor the car runs like crap miss firing and hesitates on acceleration.
Then you might be having the same problem I was experiencing. The chain tensioner came out defective and ended up buying new ones from mopar online. After the new tensioners the jeep runs great.
