This is great, thank you.
It’s a song for a narcissist
💙💙💙😍
YES!!! Awesome Rocking Song. I can listen to it over n over.

OP, please contact me. i am not 100% sure the location is correct, if so, it would be the only Lawrence, KS show i would have missed. They played both the "Off the Wall Hall" around 82, and Hoch Auditorium at the University of Kansas in 84. It is possible they played another show in town, as they were very popular there, and William Burroughs lived there as well, which was another draw. The recording, to my ears, sounds like a smaller venue than the Opera House, now called Liberty Hall. That was my other reason for the question...The Opera House may have been a bit of a large venue for where they were at careerwise in Nov. 82, since only their E.P., "Chronic Town" was out at this date. Murmur came out in April, 83. i dunno...gonna make some texts, and do more reading.
You are 100% correct on your assumptions here. Off the Wall Hall, 11-03-81, then Hoch Auditorium, 9-14-84. They were supposed to play OTWH in February, 1982, but their scheduled changed because they were blowing up.
@@getsmartdrummer257 i have some unbelievable REM stories...up close and in person...but thats a lot to type. My Buddy was a DJ at KJHK, and lets just say, for helping offload, setup, then reverse, i got the show, beer, and Buroughs afterparty, twice...then they outgrew me, once they moved to Memorial Hall.
Learned Driver , before it was lyrically populated fully, from Mr. Buck. They were really approachable in their early days. I played the scene there as well, so i had various ins...oh to be young again
@@getsmartdrummer257 and yes..., my mistake...soon to be eighty two...i remember some later songs like Hyena being played early.
@@kilgoretrout3966 Cool! Our band Get Smart! played in Lawrence 1980-82 before moving to Chicago. Last fall played our 40+1 anniversary at Bottleneck (OTWH) and another show in Chicago. Also had many KJHK friends and Burroughs was in our loft a few times! We probably have a few mutual friends!
Hey! I was at this concert. Didn't know it was a recorded as an album. Thanks for posting.
Yeah, but no video - why is REM so shy of ive versions of this song?
yes!!!
This is one of my top 3 REM songs (for the record, the others are "I Don't Sleep, I Dream" and "The Great Beyond")
Country Feedbacks from the Monster Tour are the best!
@Cerakel Not all of them! Let me in is the only direct ref to Cobain!
Love bootlegs.
this song isn't even a well known REM song yet, it is far better than pretty much everything I heard on the radio today.
TEMAZO
I think this is the best song REM ever made, and they made quite a lot of good songs!
Former girlfriend kept for her this digipak-cd single, it had 'Losin my Religion' Live as the B-Side. I love This song, though they never play it live
the bassline is the kick!
great band and one of their best songs,
is this song about sex?
TONY HART This song is about the gay culture. Specifically, when straight men experiment with gay sex and they enjoy it, they will then feel guilt and take it out on the gay man. The want it, but become angry and abusive. It can be applied to many situations. Great song.
@@nicholasvalletta8203 I believe Michael Stipe said the song was about Nicole Smith and OJ Simpson. Please do not put a gay agenda to this song that isn't already on there. Leave the good songs to us and keep the crappy ones to yourselves. LOL. :)
@@nicholasvalletta8203straight men that experiment gay sex are just gay and definitely not straight lol
lovely song
thank you so much for posting this version, the very best in my opinion. It brings me back 15-16 years ago when I bought a maxi-CD with Bang & Blame, Losing my religion, Country Feedback & Begin the Begin. Although I like the other tracks, this one was deeper & more mysterious.
This is the best version of this song from intro to ending
