Why does my back ache? | A Short Story
มุมมอง 144ปีที่แล้ว
A short story about a dad being exhausted after a long day of solo parenting his two kids. We shot the majority of this film from March-June of 2022 when Katelyn was mostly 2 years old and Hayley was 8-10 months old. We finally wrapped up production in January of 2023 when we finished the opening and closing scenes.
The year we introduced our 2yo daughter to her baby sister

2021 was a year of big changes for us - we moved, Katelyn started attending preschool, Ken quit his job to pursue his own business, and we welcomed our daughter, Hayley into the world. The year had its challenges, but together we overcame them and went on to have a wonderful year. 00:32 Toddler bed transition struggles 01:23 Amusing things toddlers do 08:49 Pregnancy woes 09:56 Preparing big si...

Love your family, great job!
Thank you!!
I appreciate this video #girlDad you are an awesome mom you have an awesome family. Thanks for sharing this day with us it gave me so much ideas to do with my daughter
I need that baby couch!😂 Looks like that’s where she sits with dad to hang out
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. So glad it gave you fun ideas of things to do with your daughter. ☺️
I got it on Amazon. They don’t have it in the same color we have anymore. But here is the link to the brand: amzn.to/3W3CYu3
Lovely
What brand is that smock she uses for meal time??
The yellow one she used was Bibado, though I’m not sure they make that design anymore. amzn.to/4aOgJ0S. The purple one was Tidy Tot. amzn.to/3PXKG6W
so cute!!
You have inspired me! ❤ Great job for real!
Awww thank you for the kind words! ☺️
😂😂😂😂 Hilarious
Hilarious😂
Amazing. Well done ❤
She’s so precious I’m getting baby fever 😭
Thank you! She certainly keeps me on my toes! 🤪
She looks so happy, but please get her a helmet, head injuries are scary
Yes, we had the same thought. She now has a helmet, but getting her to wear it has been challenging. Do you have any tips?
@@denisekohlmann9234 Yeah, that can be difficult. From my own experience as a child, make sure that the helmet is comfortable. If it is too large, it won’t sit still and be distracting, and if the chin strap is too tight it might feel like it’s choaking her, and too small a helmet is going to hurt, so make sure that the helmet is the right size. If ahe’s wearing a beanie under the helmet, it could feel like it’s blocking her vision even if it physically doesn’t, to help with that you can puah the beanie less far down the forehead. I’m sure that there could be other things that she could find difficult, like the higher point of balance, that you can’t do anything about, but try to talk to her about why she doesn’t wanna wear it. She might not even realize that it shouldn’t hurt, for example, so you telling her how it is meant to feel us important. You could also explain that it will protect her when she falls. All in all, best of luck
It’s always been a challenge to get her to wear something on her head. I like your suggestion about telling her how it’s supposed to feel. That’s the only thing I haven’t tried yet that you’ve suggested, so hopefully it will be the ticket! 🤞🏽🤞🏽
Oh my goodness so cute!
Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉
It was a lot of fun! Maybe next time you guys visit, we can all go ice skating. ☺️

Such a cute playdate!
Thanks!
I love that! 🥰
Thank you!
Can you help me to understand how you put her in the crib and she slept on her own. I have 21 months old boy and he still needy patting on his back for 30 odd mins with singing rhymes! I hope you help me with this. Thanks
We tried all the gentle parenting techniques to get her to that point, and ultimately ended up abandoning them and did the Ferber method. Letting her cry was very hard to stomach, but ultimately the best for her and us. It took about 2-3 weeks to get her to the point where she would fall asleep on her own and every night would get a little easier than the last (on the whole). It's totally worth the 2-3 weeks of rough nights (again each night was generally better than the last). She is 3.5 years old now and still falls asleep on her own when we leave the room at night. Good luck to you on whatever you decide to do! :)
Ferber method is the best! My son started sleeping independently and for the whole night at 6 months, now he is 15 mo and stills sleeps independently
Love her, she is so cute!
Thank you!
Love the video!❤️

Please what brand is your life vest
The swim floaties are by Body Glove. Here's a link to one I found with a similar design: amzn.to/3Ox1dLC (affiliate link). I couldn't find the exact design we had in the video because the ones we have are about 10 years old and were hand-me-downs from her cousins. They are Coast Guard approved.
I really want to teach my daughter the matching skills and how to pick up toys after she dumps them all out. I need all the tips I can get!
I like to use modeling and fun for these things. ☺️ If you show them how to do something and then let them consistently see you doing this, eventually they will start doing it too. Toddlers have a very strong sense of order so if you’re constantly modeling for them where things belong and putting things away, eventually they’ll follow suit. So when they’re really little, you model for them. When they get a bit older and are able to follow one or two command sentences, you can ask them to grab a specific item to put away. Then, you can start asking them to help you. And later, you can remind them to put something away as you see them move from one toy to another. That said, I think I need to follow my own advice because I’ve definitely let life get in the way of my consistency and am now struggling to get both my girls (I have two now) to clean up on their own. 🤦🏽♀️ Also, with cleaning, I find that I have more success when making things fun. So try making a game out of it. For matching, I suggest pointing to one object and then pointing to an identical object and say they match. Any opportunity you find to match something, label it that way for them. For example, when getting ready, you can say, “look, it’s the matching sock,”or “here’s the matching shoe.” At lunch you could say, “ look, I have two grapes. They match.” The more often they hear this type of comparison from you, the quicker they’ll pick up on the concept and be able to start matching. I’d also start with identical objects first, and then once they start to understand that you can move on to matching 2D to 3D objects. Hope this helps! ☺️
Katelyn is so cute. Happy belated birthday princess ❤️
Cool. My 15 month old can’t walk or talk. He just wants to put EVERYTHING in his mouth.
I have a second daughter who’s almost one now (I’m waaaay behind in video editing) and she is also still putting evvvvverything in her mouth too. Lol Every kid is so different! ❤️
It's normal, especially boys learn to speak and sometimes to walk later. I could only walk at around 15 months and talk when I was almost 3, but suddenly fluently and with no pronunciation problems. And despite these delays I was never ever behind at school, quite the contrary. How is he now?
@@Lilaliba88 he’s now 17 months and we found out he has a rare genetic disorder. He’s still not walking or talking. Maybe one day though. ☹️
She's soooo darn cute!
Thank you!!
Thank you for the video. Please keep posting.. some of us need to see other parenting styles or activities to improve ours..
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I have a backlog of videos filmed, I just need to do a better job getting around to editing them. 🤪
🥰🥰
Thank you for your video, I have a baby of the age of yours in this video and is very inspiring. They so capable of doing so much if we the parent and family take the time and the patient of include the little ones. Blessings and again thank you💐😊💐😊💐😊
Thank you so much for the kind words. I think that was probably the biggest eye opening thing for me after having kids, is how much they truly are capable of understanding and doing if given the opportunity.
Hello! I recently found your channel and I’m obsessed! ♥️ I was wondering if you could make a video on tips on how you got her to crawl and talk early? And how you went about blw? Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm happy to hear you are enjoying my content. I'd love to make a video on developmental milestones and BLW, I just don't feel qualified to advise on such topics at this time. In the meantime, there are some great TH-cam channels I can recommend to you that cover these subjects. "Learn with Adrienne" is a great channel for speech development (she is a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist) and "The Carnahan Family" covers developmental milestones. For BLW, I read the book, "Baby-Led Weaning: Helping Your Baby to Love Good Food "by Gill Rapley. I also referred to a Facebook group I'm in called "Baby Led Weaning for Beginners and Beyond (BLWBB)." Both are really great resources and have guides to help you know how to cut foods appropriately for your child. I liked the Facebook group too because if you have any questions you can ask them directly on their forum that is moderated by people who are very knowledgable on BLW. Some quick tips from me are to help your child to practice, practice, practice! For example: - For speech: narrate everything you do for your child as you go about your day and read lots of books to him/her and point out things in the pictures and name them. - For gross motor (and other) skills: observe your child and give him/her every opportunity to work on whatever skill they are engrossed in at the moment - so for crawling, give them lots of time to work on that skill by giving them free range of motion and keeping them out of carriers, enclosures, and jumpers as much as possible, under supervision and in baby-proofed rooms. - For BLW - have lots of patience and embrace the mess! The more opportunity they have to get their hands dirty, the faster they'll get proficient and understand how to manipulate food/drink to get it in their mouths. Lastly, if you have any concerns about your child's development, I would suggest to speak to your child's pediatrician. You can also refer to the CDC's developmental milestone guide to see if your child is on track and look into early intervention services if you think your child may need some assistance (www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/actearly/parents/states.html).
Okay, I’ve been thinking a lot about your request and think I found a way to deliver the content you requested in a way that I’m comfortable with. Stay tuned!
Cool :)
Thanks!
So cute!
thank you!
