The REAL Southernmost Point of Mainland New Zealand
Taylor and I continue heading south, all the way to what claims to be the southernmost point in New Zealand, and then we continue south to what we think is actually the REAL southernmost point in mainland New Zealand.

Taylor and I found some awesome waterfalls while driving over Haast Pass, through Mt. Aspiring National Park. After a few days of continuous rain, everywhere we looked had water flowing. We made our way over Haast Pass and over to the Queenstown Lakes District.
Exploring Fox Glacier and the Southern Alps

Taylor and I see what we can of Fox glacier. The weather made it difficult to get a good view of the Glacier. We did get an awesome view of the Southern Alps and Mt. Cook. We stayed at a nice campsite at Gillespie's Beach which overlooked the mountains and had a cool beach. We did a small hike from our camp to look at an old mining tunnel that leads right to the ocean. The weather never lifted ...
The Best Free View of Franz Josef Glacier
มุมมอง 22814 วันที่ผ่านมา
Taylor and I hike to Alex's Knob to overlook Franz Josef Glacier. We got lucky and had to fight through some snow on our way up. The view was worth the effort and we got to see the Glacier so much better than we did the day before when we just did smaller hikes. Without paying for a helicopter tour, I believe this is the best view we could get.
Exploring Franz Josef Glacier

Our first day in Franz Josef Glacier, checking out some quick hikes near Franz Josef Glacier. These smaller hikes did not get us a great view of the Glacier, so we are planning to do a larger hike to get us a better view. We then hiked to a old mining tunnel just out side of the Franz Josef Glacier town. It was a cool little hike and we even got to see some glow worms (go pro barely did). The t...

Checking out Hokitika Gorge, near our campsite we stop at a small waterfall before heading to Hokitika Gorge. After Hokitika Gorge, we kept heading South and explored some unnamed hot springs along our route. It took us a minute to find the hot springs.

Nelson Lakes National Park

Checking out Nelson Lakes National Park First stop was Lake Rotoiti, a beautiful lake that reminded me of Glacier National Park in Montana. Next lake was Lake Rotoroa, another sweet lake in the park. We camped on Lake Rotoiti and left the next morning. On the road we stopped to see a couple waterfalls.
Abel Tasman National Park

Checking out Abel Tasman National Park Taylor and I camped close to Abel Tasman National Park and caught a nice sunrise. Then we hiked along the coast for a few hours and saw some nice beaches. Next day we headed to another area of the park and hiked Wainui Falls and camped on the far end of Abel Tasman National Park

Peacock Farmhouse Chowder
มุมมอง 45หลายเดือนก่อน
Cooking up some peacock that I hunted in the Northland Region of New Zealand. Taylor and I made a peacock farmhouse chowder, a soup that I've cooked before with chicken. We used just the breast meat for this and it turned out better than expected. Everyone we asked, including the individual that took us hunting, said peacock was horrible, but we wanted to give it a try. This was a younger male ...

New channel to me, so was wondering how you were going to present the video. Actually enjoyed sitting back and watching you both enjoy a walk along the coast. I'm based in the UK and in my mid seventies, and care for my wife, so don't believe I will ever manage to visit New Zealand.

Very cool, what driveavility issues were you seeing on that test drive? Also any insight on the mechanical fitment. What did you do about motor mounts? Flip them or move one back and use a relocation bracket and a custom mount? You running the stock v10 manifolds? Stock or tubular K?

    • @erichakes323
      @erichakes323 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks for the comment. No major issues on the test drive besides the engine lagging. In the past, the engine would die at stops if I let off the gas but this most recent test was the most "normal". Motor mounts were aftermarket 4.6l V8 mounts (stock would have worked) and were mounted on the back set of holes. On the passenger side (I think) I had to weld a bracket to move the motor mounts back. The driver side (again i think) had holes in the block for the mounts to bolt right up. The mounts bolted right into the stock k frame, I eventually want a tubular one but haven't wanted to spend the money on it just yet. It has stock manifolds but I heavily modified the driver side to get around the steering linkage. This manifold will not be a realistic ling term option. My modification cuts down on the flow a good bit and I need to get a better manifold made (likely custom).

@erichakes323 very cool!!! I am assembling one and it will be going in a 94 gt. I had the same thoughts as you about one side going in the rear holes and the other needing a steel plate to relocate it further back. I have a UPR tubular K for it to go on for extra room. Good to know about the stock manifolds, I imagine they would be difficult to work with. I may try and use a set of 4.6 bbk long tubes and ratchet the collectors together and add a primary to the front and just tie it into a pipe behind it

Ford did this as a prototype back when new edge firsr c0ame out. They used a aluminum block with cobra r v10 heads (impossible to find). It had a crossflow dual intake. Powered by 2 ecm's. One for each bank. NA it made nearly 500 horspower. Thanks to Obama this was shelved and a good reason why new edges didn't come with loads of hp from factory.

id start by getting a wire schematic of the old truck. then check all your ground wires and make sure to run a ground from the engine to the chassis if you haven't already. just use the K.I.S.S. method. (keep it simple stupid) first grounds, fuel pressure, a data logger to get into the sensors and see what the sensors, fuel trims and what the timing is doing would also help. Good luck!
