Key stuck in ignition Colorado Safety bypass to remove key.
มุมมอง 5573 หลายเดือนก่อน
Dealers will take your money and replace several parts and your key will still occasionally get stuck in your ignition. When this happens the power stays on and will drain your battery if you can't get it out. I do not encourage you to do this because it is bypassing a Safety switch. Engineers created this lock to prevent the key from being removed unless the vehicle is in Park. By bypassing th...

  • @862057

    I just went through this problem. My slide in the bed camper doesn't have brake lights mounted on it so the truck did not recognize that there was a trailer connected and the 12 volt power to the camper would not activate. I'm going to mount little lights in the camper and hook them to the left and right signal wires coming from the trailer cord lead. I didn't see your video until after spending 2 hours checking fuses and wires and finally hooking my little utility trailer to the truck to prove it needed to see trailer brake lights were now connected so it would turn on the 12 volt feed. Ford goofed up on designing this one.

      Clean all the old adhesive/rust off the connection on the glass and then use some spray lube on the new rail and on the rubber on the glass. Put a towel on the floor, turn the window upside down and press down on the rail pushing it onto the glass. Be careful not to break the glass. It's a tight fit. Looking back I wish I would have made a better video but at the time I decided to make something just because I had such a hard time finding the part. I already had it apart by then. As you know you need both hands on reassembly so I couldn't film it going back together. It was cold out so I stopped in to use my moms garage which is near the parts store. I only had limited supplies to do the job.

      @dach4mp85 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrismiles1369 correct terminal? As in the trailer battery terminal? I mean this is the way the trailer came, and the dealer even tried swapping wires in the plug, but that fed the trailer brakes constant power. This trailer battery is for the emergency break away battery. Honestly after reading through some of the comments it seems like some people are saying that itll only provide power while all doors are shut and key inside the vehicle. I dont remember all of the ways I checked, but I just remember I could never get a solid charging light on the battery. Only ever lit up when I had my foot on the brakes, then would shut off when I let go. LOL

      @@dach4mp85 you answered my question.....when they switched the wire and it applied the brakes. This tells me you have it on the correct 12v tab. All I know for fact is right there in the video. It works for our wheel chair lift which would be the breakaway battery charge line that you are talking about. In the "good old days" you had a fuse in a hot line from the battery and it always worked. This is how I use to run a power inverter to run a mini refrigerator when we camped. Now days it's more complicated...sounds like each year is programed a little bit different.

    • @dach4mp85

    Dumbest setup from a manufacturer I've ever seen; engineers definitely sit back and ponder ways to fuck things up while imposing their eureka moment ideas upon us all ... I've encountered so many work trucks and friends trucks where the "intelligent" trailer battery charging system has shit the bed and won't charge for whatever reason.... Ford really screwed the pooch on this "upgrade". I've wired up so many charging relays on these trucks so it's purely electro-mechanical it would make your head spin and they now charge and provide up to a circuit protected 30 amps right to the rear (I run a redundant charging circuit wire to the rear 7 way plug) under a KOER situation only... So while snowmobiles are being hauled the diesel heater is churning along in the ski-doo trailer keeping the trailer at a toasty 21 degrees Celsius and all the sleds are plugged in to keep their batteries at the fullest charge available and the deepcycle batteries in the trailer are always at full charge...

    on my 2018 f150 xl 4x4 crew cab with 5.0 and tow package. assembled 4/18 in kansas city, i installed the trailer brake controller, used forscan to turn on in 2 places, ( enable and enable gain). when plugged into a fully equipped and wired trailer, once the pickup recognized a trailer, the 12+ line became hot, ( the engine had to be running before the 12+ became hot) brakes worked, with in dash gain display, even have reverse pole hot while in reverse in the 7 pole trailer plug.

    • @chrismiles1369
      @chrismiles1369 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is correct. Plug in a trailer press brake and it will power up. In our case a wheelchair lift doesn't put any load on any trailer terminals so it doesn't "see" anything plugged in and won't turn on the 12v. I ended up wiring the lifts' license plate as a right tail light. It will turn on the 12v now but it also notices the left trailer light is "out". We just clear it and the lift works fine. It is kind of a pain as you always have to start the truck press the brake then go back to lift the chair. For getting out you have to leave it run, lower the chair then go back and shut the engine off. Not bad but when you're wheelchair bound it's a lot of extra work. Would be nice if it was always hot like the earlier models were.

      Our old truck was a 2012. It had a towing package but the relay and fuse needed to be put in the fuse panel on top of the radiator area.
