Just off the north beach of Elk Rapids in the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay are hundreds of old pilings just under the surface. These are left from a long pier that was built in the 1860’s. It’s amazing how good condition they are still in considering the wind, waves and winter ice they endure. I agree, this captain nailed this docking maneuver.
Live and work near Elk Rapids. I had never heard of those before. One of the old city docks? Wow, you don't want to run over them things.
They are very interesting to see in the clear water. It’s amazing to think low long they have survived in all the waves and especially the ice in the winter. We love Elk Rapids and Shorts Brewery.

I would NOT recommend using Orion Hydroseeding for erosion control. My yard had has a slight slope and the first light rain a week after seeding caused much of the seed to wash away.
