Boston marathon training post injury. Boston Rebuild Vlog 01.
I'm training for the Boston Marathon post injured (and while still recovering). This will be a delicate balance between staying healthy and getting the appropriate training stimulus. Follow along, and let me know how your training is going!
This was the first month, which I view as an introductory period before the actual training block. The goal for this period was to see how my body and injury (psoas tendinopathy) reacted to running again after 3 months off.

I’m quite nerdy about kit like this! i do have various kits but took quite a few tips from this video,i forgot about those fiber repair spokes also a larger pump especially in winter to get that tyre aired back up …thanks 🙂👍🏻
Awesome, glad the tips could help!
This is on my bucket list. See y'all someday. . . 🔥🔥
Great video Seth - thanks for taking the time to present all this. Wondering why you like / choose / prefer Orange brand sealant over Stans? I've always gone with Stans, and fingers crossed, have never had to use out in the field...just topping up on long rides if need be. Getting ready for Tour Divide 2024 and rethinking all of my gear and making sure i'm 100% good to go with what I have.....If that's possible :)
Hey Stephen, sorry for the delay! I’ve found that Orange endurance has sealed quicker for me than Stan’s. I haven’t had any big issues with Stan’s, so I’d say it’s more of a preference based on experience. How was your TD experience??
Get a redshift shock stem to relieve your hand issues.
Late to this party, but cool video. Dig that local flavor!
Merci pour les conseils qui peuvent être appliquées en voyage à vélo. 😊
Some needed info for me I'm setting out in march for a event and you pointed me in the right direction for some good stuff
Awesome, I’m glad to hear! Best of luck in march!

How did I ever miss this film?! I am a big fan of Bikes or Death and I never miss an episode. Wow! The fun the participants seemed to have is inspiring. I only hope to be able to one day get over there and ride the Slowdown. Thanks Patrick, and Seth.
Thanks so much Jaque, I’m glad you enjoyed watching! Patrick and BOD rock!

If the bevy did get a lot of condensation, or just wet inside from any cause, how did you balance letting it dry with the need to get back out riding? Especially when you got up it was still dark/cold.
Fortunately I didn't deal with too much condensation since I kept my head outside the bivy. However, there were a couple instances where I wanted to let it dry, so I would pack up my bivy in the morning as usual and then wait for a longer stop during the day (ex. a big lunch or resupply in town) where I would take the bivy out, flip it inside out, and let the inside of it air dry! This is also a benefit of doing period guest house overnight stays - to let your gear dry out while you're sleeping.
@@seth.dubois terrific, I appreciate the insight.
Great effort on finishing the race! Thanks for the insights. Just wondering what size of frame you had and what your height is?
Thank you, happy to share! I’m 5’9 and ran a 54cm frame.
Thanks for sharing, planning on racing 2024 or 25.
Awesome! I miss Kyrgyzstan, you’ll love the experience.
Thanks and congrats for finishing the SRMR! Respect. One question: do you have more details about your sleeping system?
Thank you, I appreciate it! I’ll have a more detailed video regarding sleeping gear and clothes, but I utilized a Sea to Summit Spark 28F bag, an Outdoor Research Alpine bivy, a klymit inflatable pillow, and a gossamer gear 1/8” thin light foam pad cut to 3/4 length. On the cold nights I wore a big agnes synthetic down jacket and long tights.
Just wanted to follow up and let you know my newest video is an overview of my sleep system!
amazing mate! wow
Thank you!
Great Video! Greetings from Canada🎉
wish i could find a event like this in colorado!!!
If I remember right, there is one in Trinidad, Colorado. Can't remember the name of it, but think it's in June or July
I'm from Groveton, TX. The route is full this year, but next I need to get out and show the tourists how the locals can throw down.
Getting pumped
Will the 16 gram co2 reseat the tire? I went with a 25 to be safe but prefer the smaller 16 Thanks
16 typically will do it, but I typically stick with 20 or 25 to be sure (for 50c+ tires)
Enjoyed the film. Keep up the great work.
Much appreciated Chris!
Patrick, love your podcast, awesome to see this very well done film after hearing you speak of the sweat, love and dedication you put into getting this off and running. Congrats man.
Appreciate the kind words! 🙌
Thank you so much! It's a privilege to serve this community.
Ps - you can get a lab film that’s used to cover Petri dishes, flasks, and the like that work very well for covering the tire pump valves and water bottle openings to protect them from mid. Cut a bunch up in little squares to replace what you use.
That's awesome, thanks for the heads up!
Great Stuff! Happy to be a part of this years race!
Is there a link to the route somewhere?
Here it is: odysseyvog.com/route
Man, I’m excited to see the full feature! Will you be riding or filming at the VOG? We’ve got a little peloton coming down from Spokane, it’ll be great to finally meet you proper.
Heck yes!!! The stoke is high for this one. So far, it looks amazing.
Hell yeah. Looking forward to this. Your content is great!
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Yours as well!
Wonderful journey!
This production is on point 👌👌
Much appreciated Jeff!
Greatest line “ quit and do what, go home..? And do what?” Great video of what so many of us think. Pretty sure I wouldn’t bring the firewood with me though.
Haha agreed, the firewood takes quite some effort. Thanks for watching!
You mentioned spare bolts, so I’m sure you had it but I will never be without spare cleat bolts. I lost one, which allowed the cleat to spin as I tried to get out of the pedal and down I went. Nothing on my bike would fit as a replacement and the remainder of the ride was a nightmare. I eventually shoved a twig in the hole to keep it from spinning. I second the fiber spoke recommendation, I’ve been saved by one too. Great video Seth, I leaned a few things that I wouldn’t have thought of!
Thanks Richard! Absolutely great point, I definitely need to double check that I've got some spare cleat bolts on there!
Subbed right away. Loved it. The fun of it was all summed up by that happy, energy emitting smile on Zkristen’s face! Looked amazing!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
Forgot to add one thing, don't spare forget zip ties!
That brs stove in the beginning niceee
Nicely done!👍
Thank you!
Looks like a fun event :)
It definitely is!
I take a lot less than you but probably can't fix as much.
Yea this is definitely an extensive setup. I'll be racing the Silk Road Mountain Race this year, so this is the type of repair setup I would use for a long race in remote locations.
The rain and mud was punishment for all the aerobars……
Those aerobars make a huge difference in multi-day events 👌
Always great to see what folks carry, I'd never even heard of FiberFix Spoke, that sounds handy as heck.
Yea, it's a great item for peace of mind!
At 00:16, do you know what that white sphere is in the top right corner? Thanks
There were power lines in that location, so I believe that's an overhead wire marker.
@@seth.dubois Thanks. Do you know where that location is?

Awesome film, captured the positivity and beauty and challenge of the course perfectly!
Thank you! It was awesome having you out there. Speaking of positivity, you always had the best attitude 👌
Awesome video. Love these documentaries. You have a great balance of mid race action and interviews. Great story.
Thanks Christian, I appreciate the kind words!
Amazing video. I would sure love to be a part of this next year!
Thanks Bo! Registration for 2022 is currently live at odysseyvog.com
And you ask me why I do what I do FREEDOM MAN & MACHINE !!!
Beware of soil composed primarily of decomposing pine needles, commonly found on the shady side of the mountain in New Mexico. So nice to ride on when it's dry. Afternoon rain storm it turns to death mud. You cannot ride it. You cannot walk it. The wheels will not turn. You'll have to carry or drag the bike out.
