Nostalgia. Learned of the minimalist approach to composition at the Berklee College of Music, Boston through Rick Applin. This piece, in particular, reminded me (instantly) of the guitar players of the Congo, Juju Musicians of Nigeria (Ebenezer Obey, King Sunny Ade both Nigerian guitar players). Also, the ostinatti tendencies in Traditional African folk music... Heard the piece for the first time, at night, on the NPR Radio Station, around 2:30am, on the Charles River, MIT, Cambridge side, 30 years ago! It reminded me of home, 10,000 miles away... Thank you Mr. Steve Reich.
This makes my days better, the sun get's brighter, the sky more, the coulds more white and funny, the rain more confortable, makes everything beautiful
I'm sat in a discord server with a group of people watching an absolutely dreadful 'comedy'. Bored, I start browsing Aphex Twin videos on TH-cam and read a comment about how he is influenced by Steve Reich, I look him up. This is the first track I listen to and I've discovered the influence behind the music from Sim City that I liked so much twenty years ago. Lovely stuff.
When I used to study music in I-GCSE, we only heard the 3rd Movement of this whole song which by itself is already pretty amazing. And now finally, I have heard the whole song and I can't believe I never heard the whole thing before. It's unreal!
As someone who also studied music at IGCSE, we also only heard the third movement. I remember being amazed that day and spending the rest of the day (our lesson was in the morning) keeping the song name in my head as the guitars stayed in my mind all day, until I could get home and search it up. I was absolutely captivated by it and still am today!
the visuals go great. the random lion at 7:55 lol this more the driving type music i'm looking for. perfect. it is such a strange feeling.. listening to it i hear emotion.. it is so good
Wonderful. I also hear some of The Orb in this. For a fantastic mix of this and other Reich works listen to Megamix by Tranquility Bass. Spine tingling goose bumping stuff.

Music beyond words, thanks for posting. The Orb connection is sick. Love the Dali pic too.

Ah..so is this where the sample for Little Fluffy Clouds comes from?
An interesting fact I am a healer and use Mr. Reich with my neuro-divergent patients. They find it very calming. And I love it too!
Hi ! Does anyone know where i can find the first picture? Or where it was taken from?
First heard "Little Fluffy Clouds" over 30 years ago and I'm just getting round to listening to this!

Argh! The monotony is maddening
10:20 Where the real fun starts
So glad this music was interrupted by a piece of shit advert trying to sell me something that I will never ever buy. God damn these people!

or you hear some Steve Reich in The Orb
Heard this on Cracow Last Night of The Proms by Łukasz Kuropaczewski. Amazing!
I've heard it in Kraków as well, on Sacrum Profanum, played by Jonny Greenwood! Fantastic
This is the piece that made me like minimalism. It takes you away somewhere on a musical journey.
