@@ajgameguy3674 Not good enough to warrant a company to continue making it. Not good enough to turn a high enough profit for a company that, relatively speaking, is okay with turning over financial stinkers every now and again. It is a concept that is fun for 30 minutes and then you realize that it is repetitive and boring, completely at the blame of the gameplay being that way.

@@immewingatm I mean, just because the game wasn't a smash success with several sequels, it doesn't really mean that the game itself was terrible. Just that Nintendo didn't bother making another game. And trust, that is NOT rare for Nintendo to do. Kid Icarus Uprising being loved by fans for rebooting the series, it's comedic writing, and it's fun gameplay? Hasn't had a sequel since the 3DS. Chibi Robo, F-Zero, Metroid for a very long time, etc.

@ajgameguy3674 The thing is, it once was. Then the trope got tired because game mechanics and gameplay in general evolved beyond it. The first game sold millions of units because it was new and fresh and innovative. Then the sequel comes out and it sells more, but then another and another. Suddenly the well is dry, the gameplay is dated and everyone has moved on. Kid Icarus Uprising didn't sell well due to many things and sadly, the controls on that game were ABYSMAL. If you have to crab claw it to simply walk and aim, there is a problem. As such, it moved fewer units because sadly it hurt to play. If a game had the same writing and better handling of controls, we would probably have a sequel by now. Also, Metroid Dread was very recent. Metroid Prime 4 is also in the works. Chibi Robo did have a sequel but the sequel was HORRIBLE and killed the franchise. Sadly, it is the way it is. F-Zero also has cult status and recently had the F-Zero 100 celebration, but it is just that, cult status. Always a bridesmaid and never the bride. The bride of racing for Nintendo is Mario Kart.
