Welcome to my backyard garden! I do most of my gardening in containers, although I do have a few plants in the landscape. I enjoy the process of seed starting, propagating and watching plants come alive. We have a long growing season here, so that gives me lots of time to experiment. I hope that I can encourage you to have fun each day in your own garden, wherever that may be. It’s just the best place!!Hope you enjoy!

Hi friends! It's the last week of July, and we've had milder weather this summer, so I've been able to enjoy being in the garden. My goal is to keep everything alive and green through the month of August! Hope you enjoy seeing some beautiful flowers and plants, and maybe get inspired to be outside as much as possible! Cheers!!

Hi Friend! Welcome to my new shade garden! This has been a multi-year project, with most of the work happening just in 2024. I'm excited about how I can use it for a calm & shady space when it starts heating up hear in Texas (which it has already!) It has taken me a few years to break through the paralysis of analysis...I finally decided to just start, and look how it turned out. I couldn't be ...

Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words!
Such a great and beautiful garden, so nice and peaceful, thanks for sharing your video, I like this garden
I’m from PA and recently took a trip to Florida. I got such a kick out of the anoles!
so beautiful plants!!!
@@JulianaLima-gb6nc thank you! ❤️
Love your display of containers by your door. Those coleus are amazing! 😍
@@mycarolinagarden Nicole! thanks so much!!
Where are you in Texas?
Thanks for sharing your ( container ) garden and indeed it gives me the inspiration to keep going with my garden. Mine is 7b, so hot last few weeks and all flowers - in pots - look so pathetic. I thought it was just me because a lot of times what I see was somebody else's garden with all the colors, so green, so bright, so full , so ...intimidate !!! I've got some of what you got, salvia, gomphrena, red yucca, butterflies bush, zinnia , ... It's hot but it's not gonna be hot forever , hope that all the delicate flowers will survive and grow strong together . There's one plant that you have at 7:07 and again at 20:9, what's the name of it ? I loved it and tried to get the name - gar ? - but I'm not so sure . Thanks.
It’s gaura, the white sort of butterfly-looking flowers. It’s perennial for me and I see bees on it all the time. Thanks so much for watching!! Sounds like you have some beautiful plants as well!
@@summerofstacey6676 Thank you, I'll search for some seeds or plants to add to my garden.
When you install your rabbit fencing upside down, that'll happen. The small holes are supposed to be on the bottom.
@@stephenmadl5609 yes absolutely true; that’s my storage area on that wall so nothing for it to destroy 😉
Beautiful ❤️🥰
Great selection of containers and plants, they are the bees knees.
I love your garden ❤❤❤the ambiance there is so heavenly..most of my plants are on pots /containers too..enjoy gardening!!! Watching here fr d Philippines 😊❤
Aw thank you!! So nice to hear from another container gardener!! ❤️
Sorry that happened. That sucks. Maybe you could try tying on a strong stick or something for support.
Aw thanks. Yes, I could probably do that, just need to find some tall stakes (not gonna lie, I’m pretty sad right now. They took out 4 sunflowers today)
@@summerofstacey6676 Oh no! 😥
So damn true. They will kill a sunflower before it can grow the seeds they cherish. 🤯
Looks great!
Aw thanks so much!! It’s a really cool place to be!
Thank you so much, my dear friend for another great video and another great garden tour beautiful beautiful flowers
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! ♥️
You've done such a good job of supporting all of your plants!
Your containers all look so pretty! I have 2 feeders and we don't have any hummingbirds either. I don't know what's going on?!
Hey thanks for taking the time to check out my video!! 🌸 I just wonder if this past winter caused the hummingbirds to move or something.
@@summerofstacey6676 Of course, I can't wait to watch more of them! Us Texas gardeners need to stick together and stay pepped up for this summer season that's about to kick our butts ;) Yeah, I bet they moved on too...
I had 4 sunflower "volunteers" pop up in an unused pot (must've been from birdseed I spread around earlier). I babied them for weeks, only to find out the hard way that squirrels love to behead them! I have 1 left and I am taking no chances with it! I bring it in at night and I have it where I can see it from my kitchen window. Next year, I will be more purposeful and careful when I plant them!
It’s a constant battle for sure!! I try to plant more than i really want knowing that some will be for a squirrel party 🎉
@@summerofstacey6676 Good strategy! I'll keep it in mind for next year! I've never grown sunflowers before, but watching these babies grow in a pot that is probably way too small, yet still become beautiful giants makes me want to try again next year. Also, just wanted to say I love your garden and am impressed by how many plants you have and that almost all are in great shape! You really know your stuff!
@@bevmaloney aw you are really so kind to say that! I wanted to follow up and ask how does that sunflower do with changing the temperature by going in and out of the house?
@@summerofstacey6676 I only just started doing that recently and it seems fine. However, it is fully grown so I don't know what would happen if I did it when it was still growing. It's not too hot here in Southern California right now, so there isn't too much of a temperature variation between inside and outside.
If you time it right, and have patience, you can actually watch the buds open. They smell heavenly. Enjoy!
which flowers are you referring to?
Beautiful looking containers of flowers, they are the bees knees. We have a small front garden with three flowerbeds, fifty two containers of perennials and six containers of annuals on the front windowsills. My wife has no interest in gardening and tells me it looks like a mini garden centre. I water the containers and flowerbeds with a watering can and feed the containers with tomato food once a week. I mulch the flowerbeds and add two handfuls of fish blood and bone every March and they don't get anything more until the following March.
What do you do in the Winter with the container garden?
I bring the sanseveria and elephant bush inside…the rest is left outside. Depending on how severe the winter is, I’ve had verbena and petunias come back some years. Perennials like gaura, hydrangea and salvias will come back…annuals I replace every year 🪴
Beautiful container garden, Its the bees knees.

Thanks! And I thought I had a lot of containers! My hubs has no interest in gardening either, but he does like seeing how things progress over time 😊 and that’s okay with me!
Seeds to share?
yay Im so glad it still looks good!!! Those peppers are looking GREAT! Was praying for all of you in Dallas 💜
Thanks! We were fine but definitely have family and friends who lost power and parts or their rooves. I know you know how it is down here!!
@@summerofstacey6676 yes unfortunately when it’s tornado season 🌪️ there’s so much unpredictable weather! Glad you’re ok and hope everyone regains power and their roofs back quickly!!!
Thank you for the review. Do you still use the earbuds now? They are no longer sold on Maffetone's site unfortunately
No, I had a running injury shortly after I made the review and was out of running for over a year. Now I just use my AirPods. I don’t even know if anyone is still using the maffetone method
@summerofstacey6676 so sorry to hear about your injury! I'm trying to turn myself into a runner (as someone who has always hated running) so I'm researching all the ways to do that. "Go slow to run fast" (or at least not want to die) seems to be a common theme and the MAF method seems promising.
@@nataliaex thanks, doll. it is a great method!! I think you’ll really come to love the time you spend in your training!
Your garden is great. Ive been trying to grow poppies for years. They are a cool weather plant [I am southeast of you in zone 8b] They do better for me when I plant them in late fall (after Thanksgiving) through February. The struggle is real!. I heard that Shirley poppies do better in the hot, humid weather I have. And that seems to be the case. California poppies do okay but no matter what - i plant thousands of seeds for a small result. I love poppies though so i will keep trying Good luck!
You know what, I was thinking the same thing about sowing poppy seeds in late fall!! Thank you for the confirmation on that and the encouragement!! 🌻
Where did you get that cute herb rack thing? It's so cute.
Thanks!! At Walmart, a couple of seasons ago

Nice carrot harvest. The soil looks fantastic. We did our carrot harvesting today also. But much small one. New to channel and friend.
Thanks for the review!
thank you for the review. it helped a lot. how do we know what heart rate we are at? is there any english voice telling the number or just above/below zone alert?
The app wizard walks you through to see what your top heart rate should be, but I also did research on Phil maffetone.com so I knew mine would be 131. The voice prompt (English) says either you are above the goal or below the goal..
Hi Stacey, I enjoyed your video review. Is the iPhone-only app required to get the voice prompts and signal when you are outside the HR range?
Nice job on the weekly running volume and 6 miler. Keep it up and I think you'll find those last 2 miles get easier and faster. And that 36 minute 5K time... I think it is going down this summer/early fall. Keep running...
TURTLE!!!
i know. we used to write our name in nail polish on the backs of turtles. (we pretty much lived outside growing up)
SOOOOOO MUCH RAIN!!! Do your plants like it?
they do. rain is so much better than water from the tap!
@@summerofstacey6676 I always feel like I overwater or underwater I can’t ever get it just right
@@CarolenGrayToday I learn something new every day
you SHOULD be proud!!! WAY TO GO!
I wish it would rain here, have to water twice a day, so hot...
Is that a cradle raised bed? Love what you’ve done with it! How long did the carrots take to grow and when did you plant them?
It’s from gardener’s supply. I put it together myself. Those carrots were in the raised bed 82 days. The package said 65 days, but when I checked at that point they weren’t ready. I sowed the carrot seeds on March 8. They were fine through snowmaggedon 😋
@@summerofstacey6676 very cool! I’ve had several plants (potatoes, celery, strawberries) underestimate their time from sapling to harvest so I guess mileage varies, thanks for the pro tips!
Everything looks beautiful
So many beautiful containers! I love all the colors!
Thank you! I’m doing better with flowers than with edibles right now 😉😉
The flowers look beautiful, Coleus is one of my favorite plants to put in the garden. The turtle was out enjoying the ☀️
I added another coleus today, too!!

That is some exciting progress, Stacey. You are doing great! Keep up the effort and string one week after another together and you'll continue to surprise yourself and be doing that half marathon before you know it. No pressure. All in due time. Keep running...
Thanks for the encouragement!!
Great work! You are doing great, keep it going!
Thank you! Do I dare say it’s fun??!!! LOL!!!
Yes!! The salvias and trumpet vines are a hummingbirds dream. How great that they visit u daily. Thats a blessing
